The space
Additional info and links are provided after booking and you cancel up to 5 days prior to check in. I do not live in-country, my co-host Francis will assist you with your reservation and arrival. Before booking, please take note of the following:
1. You will need to get in touch with Francis at least 3 days prior to arrival. You can contact her through Airbnb. Spanish is preferred but English is fine, please be patient with Francis as Spanish is her first language.
2. The last 3km leading to the Finca Bellavista community requires a 4x4 vehicle. A river will need to be crossed on foot and the average hiking time is 30 - 35 min with some parts up a steep hill - please pack accordingly.
3. There is no shop, restaurant or onsite services. The home is fully equipped for cooking your own food, please bring what you need for meals, there is a fridge freezer and propane gas oven/stovetop. The home also has everything you need for sleeping and showering and basic toiletries are provided. This is an off-grid home running on solar power - weather can affect the batteries. The experience is best described as 'Glamping'.
4. This is a private community made up of residents, owners and other on-site guests. At times, there may be no one onsite. You are free to explore the various hiking trails, rivers and waterfalls at your own risk.
5. Please note that the house is equipped with a security camera. The camera is aimed at the entrance and its purpose is to protect the house from intruders. Because of its isolation, the house was recently targeted by thieves. The camera will not see or hear any activity taking place in the house, it will capture only the front door. The footage is automatically delated after a few days.
6. Special requests can be made to Francis but are not guaranteed.

RECOMMENDED FOR:
A refreshing jungle vacation, couples looking for privacy, a family wanting to get back in touch with nature - digital detox. Bird and wildlife enthusiasts, potential life change, come see if off-grid living is for you. A comfortable base while exploring the Osa Peninsula / Southern Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, known as a world premier rainforest destination dubbed one of the most biologically intense places on earth by National Geographic. The pristine peninsula is bound on the northwest by Drake Bay, on the west by the Pacific Ocean, and on the east by the Golfo Dulce. The Osa Peninsula offers breathtaking, untouched scenery, secluded beaches, and abundant wildlife encompassing lush primary rainforest and a complex system of freshwater and marine resources.
Guest access
Home is prepared for arrival and a time will be arranged beforehand to meet in the community car park. From there, you will be escorted to my home (about a 30min hike), please note that a river will need to be crossed on foot. As I do not live in-country, please direct all your questions to Francis. I highly recommend bringing boots or at the very least, closed toed shoes - you are coming to a jungle in one of the most diverse regions in the world.
The river can be dangerous to cross during or shortly after a rain, in heavy rains it will be impossible. In this scenario please use basecamp to cross as the path there has a bridge. It will be pointed out to you during your walkout. Please note that basecamp is private property and permission to use the bridge has been granted for emergencies only.
If you are uncomfortable being alone in the jungle or do not like wildlife and insects then this place is not for you. The experience can best be described as glamping.
Other things to note
IS FINCA BELLAVISTA RIGHT FOR ME?
No, it's the jungle silly! Only us crazy people live here. This is the furthest place from a resort and you will quite possibly be just as far away from your neighbor. There are no restaurants, shops or staff onsite. If you are looking for a real authentic off-grid nature experience then you will not find more authentic than this.
HOW DO WE ASK QUESTIONS OR FIND OUT MORE INFO?
