I am a very easy going 25 year old female engineer with a spare room in my large apartment in downtown St. John's. It is within a minute walk of George Street, cafes, bars, restaurants, shopping, tourist information, a liquor store and pharmacy. There are onsite laundry facilities.
The spare room is huge with a double bed and plenty of storage space, and I keep it fully stocked with a variety of tea and coffee. If you're only in town for a short time then you can't beat the location, it's right in the heart of downtown, only a block away from the waterfront, within walking distance of Signal Hill and a very short drive from Cape Spear.
There's a bus stop right outside the building with routes to the malls and university etc.
I'll be honest, the building is old (just like most things in downtown St. John's) so you can expect a fair bit of street noise at night (especially on weekends), and the entrance to the building leaves something to be desired, but the apartment is nice and clean!
I don't spend very much time at home so you will likely have the place to yourself most of the time, but I love meeting new people and I would be happy to recommend my favourite things to see and do while you're here.
If you would like to cook, feel free to use anything in the apartment, I have a fully stocked kitchen and you're welcome to share space in my fridge and freezer.
Ask me about car rental if you're interested! Parking downtown is free on evenings and weekends. During the day it may be necessary to pay if you're staying in the downtown core.
And finally, there is high speed, FibreOp wifi available in the apartment.
I stayed with Andrea for 8 days total this month, and she's just so kind and friendly. My first stay I arrived at close to 10pm and she was still pleasant when I finally got in. Boots the cat is adorable, and the apartment is huge and clean. There is street noise, but you get used to that pretty quickly.
Lovely stay (:
Andrea was great, I had my twin daughters with me for 5 days and the weather was not behaving so well. So we hung around the place more than normal and she did not mind. She is very respectful and you can converse as much or as little as want. The area is close to the action.
Thanks Andrea will stay again when in the area.
I could tell you all about...
The lovely host, the cute cat, the awesome location and the neat room...
But, then you'll want to book it, and it won't be available when I want to visit St. John's again...
So please disregard everything I've said ;)
This apartment, and Andrea, are the best! I stayed for a whole month and have nothing but good things to say. The place is very affordable considering the location. It's a beautiful apartment chock-full of amenities and the internet is very fast. The room is lovely. I got a lot of work done at the table and had very restful sleeps. There's tons of cupboard room too. The living room is huge and a very relaxing place to have a coffee and read. I arrived in the middle of the night and had no problems getting in. There were power outages all over St. John's but this apartment was on a good electrical grid and did not lose power! I've realized this is quite important in Newfoundland in the winter.
Andrea herself was amazing. I had all these random requests and favours and she was extremely accommodating. She went way beyond the call of duty to help me out and make me feel welcome in St. John's. She's such a cool, friendly and easy-going girl that it's impossible not to feel totally comfortable sharing a space with her. I have absolutely no doubt I'd stay here again on future visits to St. John's. You really can't beat this location, apartment, price, and host! Oh, and Boots the cat was adorable! A very quiet and elusive cat that comes out now and then and cuddles only if you want her too!
You definitely can't beat this location - especially if you'll be visiting George Street at night (no cabs needed). It's also within walking distance of downtown shopping, eating, and the 10 bus to MUN or Avalon mall. The room was spacious, clean, and we appreciated the shower's water pressure. I honestly didn't notice any street noise at night and slept like a baby in the comfy bed.
Andrea was a very gracious host and quite tolerant of our all-hours comings and goings. And Boots the Cat is adorable!
The apartment is huge and clean and Andrea was really friendly and welcoming! The bed was really comfortable and the shower had great water pressure. We showed up a few hours earlier than we had planned and she was still able to meet us within 5 minutes with the keys. I would recommend staying here if you're passing through St. John's!
Great apartment - lots of room. I felt very at-home. While Andrea was in St. John's during my stay, she did ensure I knew exactly what to do in order to get into the apartment. As this was my first time in St. John's, she answered all my questions via email so I knew ahead of time what to expect. I enjoyed my stay and will come back the next time my business brings me back to town.
There is no better place to stay in St. John's!!
I spent a month at Andrea's apartment and it was amazing.
The apartment is right in the center of St. John's, so getting around was really easy.
It is a very clean place. The room is large and provides all facilities, and the bed is really comfortable.
Andrea was not just a great host, she also became a good friend to me. She was really helpful, welcoming, and she lent me everything I needed: hairdryer, slippers, and even her car.
I highly recommend this place without any hesitation!
Thank you Andrea for this amazing month!
I had a great stay at Andrea's place. My return flight was late at night and she allowed me to stay at her place later than I should have. She was really accommodating. Outside of that, the place was clean and perfect for the purpose of my trip. However, I'm glad I had earplugs, since Water Street can be a touch noisy at night . Overall, I recommend this place to everyone.
