“Bajtica”, a chalet built 1905, offers the classical “Vienna style” vacation in its surroundings of the 19th Century summer villas built once with the aim to provide families a secluded summer retreat. Situated in a center of Bled but in a most peacefull area, fully equiped and very comfortable.

Anamarija is an incredible, kind, friendly and interesting host. Her house is treated with love and you can see this from the moment you step into the driveway, with beautiful fruit trees and long beads hanging from the plants.
Her house in full of fascinating antiques and everything you use in the house has a story behind it and a reason for being there. Her taste in all things is impeccable and whilst Ana enjoys the simple things in life (art, nature, conversation) she has a great taste for quality.
Her food is delicious and beyond anything that you would find in the nearby hotels and villas. Healthy and homemade food- risottos, dandelion salads and homemade marmalades served with herbal teas picked from the garden.
I 100% recommend Ana as a host she goes above and beyond what you would expect and treats you like friend and family. Everything she has recommended has been perfect and I wouldn't have had the same experience of Bled without her insight.
She has an in depth knowledge of local and Slovenian history and some of my favorite moments during my trip have been sitting with Ana and learning about current and past politics.
Her hospitality, openness and warmth really are beyond anything you would expect and staying in her home is a unique experience and a very rare find.
I wish Ana and her family all the best in the future! And that the kindness they bring to others is reciprocated x
The night I arrived, during one of many wonderful conversations we had over a homemade dinner, Bajtica's hostess, AnaMarija, used the phrase "plastic-fantastic" to describe some of the more modernized resorts/hotels in the area. The highest compliment that I could give to a guesthouse, one that I've never seen a B&B earn more so than the Bajtica Guesthouse has, is that it is exactly the opposite of "plastic-fantastic". The house itself is just as beautiful as the photographs show: authentic and well lived-in, thoughtfully furnished with pieces that fit its time and place, and decorated with local art and shelves full of books in various languages, books that beg to be read and digested and promise to tell of the cultural histories and artistic riches of the Slovenes and their beautiful country. (If you've ever read Patrick Leigh Fermor's travel books 'A Time of Gifts' or 'Between the Woods and the Water' and felt a bit awed by the wonderful generosity of many of the hosts who received him and by all that he was able to learn in their libraries and study rooms, then staying at Bajtica will be right up your alley: I learned so much about Slovenia and its wonderfully talented people through informative conversations and with the help of a well-stocked home library and an excellent nearby public one.) The gardens are lush and well-tended, and even in early-early spring, all of the breakfasts and suppers featured at least some home-grown delights. Ana Marija is not only a talented gardener; she knows very well how to use what she grows, and you'll really enjoy the fresh fruits and preserves, the home-grown teas and herbs, and many other riches directly from the backyard. (I will have to go back in the summer, instead of in March, just to see what'll be growing then!)
As others have said, and as I feel I couldn't possibly overstate, Ana Marija was a wonderful hostess and made me feel absolutely at home, as though I were one of her own family. Whether it's one or both of Ana Marija's two lovely daughters (along with their friendly dogs), her uncle (who lives on the same street in a house that also has a rich history), or local friends and relatives, Ana Marija is always being paid a visit by someone--and she made sure to introduce me to her visitors, in addition to including me in her daily life by encouraging me to accompany her on errands, and to making my trip a part of her own life by providing extremely thorough and insightful travel tips and even helping with logistical arrangements.
Sometimes, you are lucky enough to visit people and places that so closely suit your style that it makes you wish you never had to leave. I'm reluctantly far away from Bled and Bajtica at the moment, but as soon as I can, I will return. What an unforgettable experience this has been!
Erin, it has been a delight having you - you are just great companion and a specialy interesting young lady - your knowlidge is for such young person as you are incredible and fascinating. I liked your observations and found we shared many opinions. Take care/also your family/ and hopefully NASVIDENJE!
I booked my stay at the very last minute and AnaMarija answered super quickly. She is a very welcoming host.
The house is really charming, quiet and ideally located.
I would recommend this place with no hesitation.
Beautiful house and garden!
Around 15 minute walk to the lake!AnaMarija was very friendly!
Ana Marija's place is excellent! I loved her house at the first sight I saw the picture from airbnb, and it's exactly how it looks and much more than I expected! The room is lovely and I had a very big and clean bathroom which was decorated just like a 5 star hotel. The location is perfect which is just few minutes walk from the bus station. Marija and her family is very nice and her dogs are lovely.
The only regret is that the time I stayed there was too short! I highly recommend her place to everyone!
My stay at AnaMarija's home was just lovely! After picking me up from the train station, she brought me to her home. Her garden is amazing! After she saw me admiring it, I was getting settled. She brought me fresh grapes right off the fine up to my room. They were delicious! A great stay, great location, great host and I highly recommend her home to anyone interested in stay at the gorgeous Lake Bled!
Absolutely beautiful home. It was like staying in a storybook home. Very comfortable atmosphere. The floorboards even have that familiar creek in them that some will remember from their childhood. The table out by the garden is a wonderful place to sit under the grape vines and relax upon arrival. AnaMarija and her daughter made me feel extremely welcome and shared a cup of coffee with chocolates in the garden while they shared stories of Slovenia's history with me. They also showed me to the market place by the lake front and the most wonderful little restaurant. The home is on a quiet little street just a few blocks from the water. The whole experience feels taylor made to be a romantic getaway (Perhaps a honeymoon?). I can't imagine not going back again and spending at least a few days there.
