“Bajtica”, a chalet built 1905, offers the classical “Vienna style” vacation in its surroundings of the 19th Century summer villas built once with the aim to provide families a secluded summer retreat. Situated in a center of Bled but in a most peacefull area, fully equiped and very comfortable.
Slovenia has only one island but its uniqueness makes it more attractive than many an archipelago. Sheltered by picturesque mountains, the island reigns in the middle of an Alpine lake. Its charm has made it a symbol for centuries of a town to which guests from all over the world love to return. This town, which has already existed for a thousand years, is BLED.
On the island in the middle of the lake, the ancient Slavs worshipped Živa, goddess of love and fertility. Pilgrims later came to the church of St Mary on the island. A thousand years ago, on 10 April 1004, the town of Bled was mentioned for the first time when the Holy German emperor, Henry II, gifted it to the Bishop of Brixen. At that distant time, a Roman tower already stood at the top of the cliff rising vertically 100 m above the lake, and it still forms part of the mighty castle that now houses a museum collection. The town flourished in the Middle Ages due to pilgrims, and these were replaced in the 19th century by the first tourists. The Swiss hydropathist, Arnold Rikli, discovered that the gentle climate and the lake and thermal waters are a source of good health and well-being. The local people supplemented the health spa offer with guest houses and hotels.
The town, already famous at the beginning of the 20th century as the most beautiful health spa of the then Austrian empire, attracted the European aristocratic elite. After WWII, one of the most attractive state residences of the former regime was located in Bled. Many of the world’s most important people thus enjoyed the beauties of Bled. And now, for decades already, the pilgrims of the new age have been discovering this town.
My husband and I spent 2 days in Bled and stayed in Annamaria's house. The house is very typical and cozy and Anamaria is great!Very kind and helpful.
We loved our stay with AnaMarija at Bajtica. The house is charming with its antiques and romantic feel. AnaMarija made us feel very welcomed and was extremely hospitable. We felt like we were visiting family. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom clean and big and newly renovated with a big tub. The room had a balcony to enjoy the beautiful quiet morning with coffee outside. Very close to walk to town. I feel when we return we will be visiting a friend and we definitely will be returning.
Great olg house with local atmosphier and historical family style, nice view from balcony, close to the center. Very kind and wellcoming communicative Ana Marija, that made our visit interesting and easy.
This accommodation perfectly suited us. The location was close to all amenities while still being very peaceful. Ana Marija and her daughter Mina were extremely hospitable and we enjoyed their conversation. We would recommend this stay to anyone visiting Bled.
My husband and I have traveled extensively and Ana Marija is one of the most wonderful hosts that we have experienced. We highly recommend you stay here.
We arrived 30 minutes early with our 12 day old son. She was incredibly accommodating and even made us homemade lemonade on arrival! She then brought us a map of the area and explained about the sites and what there was to do in the area and gave restaurant recommendations.
We did breakfast with her every morning we stayed. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. The room was clean and had so much character. The location was also excellent. We were able to walk to the lake within 5 minutes everyday.
We even had to leave early because of our infant son and she was so sweet about it.
Overall, if you are coming to Bled, you MUST stay here. I would love to go back for a visit if we can.
Thank you Ana Marija for making our first vacation with our son so enjoyable.
Super kind host, that helped us with maps and her tips. It really made the difference on our trip to bled. The house is rustic, full of character and tastefully renovated. a boutique bnb. recommended for everyone!!
The Bajtica Guesthouse is lovely and an absolute must! AnaMarija is an excellent and welcoming host. Every aspect of her home is thoughtfully considered and beautifully crafted. Our room was tastefully decorated and everywhere you look throughout the house there is something interesting to catch your eye! The garden and balcony were inviting and comfortable, making our time at the house relaxing. AnaMarija and her daughters were helpful and eager to provide tips and recommendations about travel and the local area. The house is perfectly located and easy walking distance from the center. Definitely stay here if you have the opportunity.
We stayed at Bajtica for 4 nights and had a truly wonderful time in Bled and the surroundings. Bajtica is very conveniently situated, away from most of the main tourist hotels, in amongst the local houses and only 5 minutes walk from the lake edge and 5 minutes from the bus station. The house itself is brilliant, over 100 years old and full of charm, fresh flowers from the garden in every room and a view of the castle from the balcony. AnaMarija and her daughter were very accommodating, the breakfasts were fabulous (we were lucky enough to eat in the garden every day!) and the bathroom was absolutely spotless. If we return to Bled we would most definitely stay at Bajtica again!
This is a fantastic place to stay in Bled – you'll have great difficulty finding a kinder host. Their quaint home is nestled close within the town between the foothills and the lake. A blink of a walk from everywhere and a great local feel. They will show you the best restaurants in town, help facilitate activities, and go above and beyond to accommodate your stay. Highly recommended for a great stay in Bled.
