Come and experience ecological living in an authentic Carib Hut. Built from local hardwood trees for the flooring, local bamboo for the walls and home grown grass for the roof. There is a separate pit toilet and shower straight from the stream which acts as a border to the land. A small kitchen is available where you can cook on firewood or gas to your liking. The electricity in the hut is limited to one light bulb, but perishables can be kept in my refrigerator and electrical gadgets can be charged in my house. There is also slow internet access available.
The house has a double and a single bed and a large porch which overlooks the Atlantic Ocean - a little over a mile away - and the two islets of Castle Bruce bay.
Enjoy fresh fruit and vegetables from the organic garden. Pick your own or meals can be provided for you. Learn how to pick your own coconuts, make coconut oil, press your own sugar cane and many other traditional practices.
Hummingbirds abound and parrots fly above and below you occasionally, the evening is filled with the sound of the tree frogs and crickets.
Cell phones work and smart phones can access internet with a local sim card and charges. For emergencies you can use my computer and iPhone for emails etc.. Downloading anything else is painfully slow and best done at a local hotel or in town.
A four wheel drive car is necessary to access the site and indeed is necessary for sightseeing around the island.. Rental can be arranged for you or can be picked up at the airport on arrival.
Other meals can also be arranged if requested. For one person a meal will be $20. For two people providing they eat the same $30 for both and for three people $40.
Home made fruit wine, when available, gratis.
By the way I am now interested in selling all.

Magical setting with an exquisite tireless view. Patricia, a most wonderful and interesting character, provided a delicious island breakfast and conversation to start the day.
Our stay at Patricia's was phenomenal. I absolutely loved staying in the traditional Kalinago style hut and watching the sun rise from the Atlantic Ocean in the morning. It is peaceful here, with many birds flying from flower to flower. The kitchen has everything you need. Patricia offered quite a variety of foods for breakfast, and we were always satisfied afterwards. She is a very kind and accommodating person, letting you charge your electronics at her home, keep things in her fridge etc. We would definitely stay here again.
Patricia’s hut is really special and unique. Back to the roots! It´s a beautiful place, on top of the hill, the nature is incredible and the view from the hut is amazing. My Boyfriend and I had a good time at Patricia’s place. We enjoyed the silent, the nature and the evenings on the terrace with candles and local beer. The hut itself is easy, clean and comfy. There is a simple kitchen to use, but we often went out for lunch/dinner. The toilet (no flush) and shower worked really good, better than i expected. In the night you need a flashlight. For getting there you need definitely a Jeep otherwise it gets hard get up. Patricia is a very nice host. Absolutely easy, polite and friendly. She gaves us good advices where to go on Dominica and we really enjoyed our morning conversations during breakfast. Patricia made great breakfast. And she got a little buddy with her named Nemo – that dog is so adorable and a good watchdog! For us it was a great place and we would highly recommend it.
it was a great pleasure to stay with Patricia. I have stayed before, and I am sure I will be visiting again. Wonderfully relaxing and beautiful.
Patricias carib hut was beautiful. The view from our balcony was spectacular. You really live the island experience when you stay with Patricia. She was easy to get along with, was very accommodating and made great breakfast! The only downside to our stay was not having our own vehicle. Having a vehicle in Dominica is important to get aroud. But taking the public transportation was always an experience. Would definitely recommend.
I loved staying at Patricia's. I loved the hut; even the pit toilet had a beautiful view. It's wooden and it was clean. The view from my bed was unbelievable. You go to sleep there and you wake up early, and you wake up refreshed. I enjoyed my numerous conversations with Patricia. She is something else! A force of nature, a model for how one might live if one has the courage. I will never forget my time with her in her space or at the place where I stayed.
Patricia's place is really unique - with amazing view over the bay and Atlantic ocean and very nice host. Cottage is eco - local but absolutly comfortable, clean and pleasant. And directly from the bed you can see sun rise over Atlantic :)
And eat breakfast watching surrounding hummingbirds!
If you do not have 4WD you have to be ready for some pretty steep walk up but Patricia offers rides up & down when you are carrying your heavier bags.
For us it was great place that we would recommend!
What was there NOT to like about staying at Patricia's Place? Gisele and myself (her husband) spent the first week of our honeymoon in Dominica here and it was the perfect place to be in the middle of a natural paradise and (almost) completely off the grid.
The little thatched hut that we stayed in had the most incredible view of the Atlantic Ocean and we were surrounded by hummingbirds, lizards, and bats that came out at night. We had a great veranda on which we could read and enjoy the cool breezes.
Patricia herself is a wonderful woman. She has a great sense of humor, is unfailingly polite and helpful, and makes great eggs. Also makes AMAZING fruit wine out of things like bananas. We drank at least three bottles. It was one of our favorite parts of our day to wake up and enjoy her breakfast and talk about life in Dominica. She even helped dig my car out of the mud a couple times when I got stuck.
Gisele and I have traveled a lot and are used to staying in places off the beaten track. So if you don't like using an outhouse than this might not be the place for you. But even the rudimentary outdoor shower (with river (email hidden)pletely clean and drinkable) is a delight in many ways!
I could go on and on but I don't know what else I could say to get you to stay here at Patricia's Place. It is 100% worth it! I will close just by saying that we liked it so much that we always kept thinking about going back there to finish our trip because once you stay here nothing else is quite as nice.

Patricia is a great host! First, she rescued my wife and I after we had our rental car break down on the way to her place. Then, she helped us handle the rental car company, took us to her place in her car, and gave us a glass of wine and a snack while we waited for a new car!!!
The place is exactly like advertised, and included breakfast. You need a 4x4 to get to her, and the place is fairly spartan, but given her personal touch, I think the whole experience we had was well worth it!
Perfect place for the budget traveler and the eco-minded! Patricia gets her electricity from solar and micro-hydro! She has a beautiful garden that bears all sorts of lovely local fruits, and hummingbirds can be seen all over the place in the morning.
I would highly recommend a stay with Patricia on Dominica.
