About This Listing
We do not have our new photos yet but this special flat has been newly renovated with a private terrace and new kitchen. Located on the first floor in the heart of the Gothic quarter I recommend this flat to anyone wishing to experience Barcelona!
Welcome to Barcelona!
This is a super cosy, central apartment, give us a message if you need help with the booking and if it is not available for your dates we may have another option for you...The calendar is normally up to date every day!
We would love to host you in the gorgeous studio right off Plaza Reial and the RAMBLAS. It is in the center of the Gothic quarter in Barcelona, in the midst of bars, restaurants and within walking distance to nearly all major tourist attractions like the Picasso museum, the famous food markets la Boqueria and the Santa Caterina, the Cathedral, the lovely Santa Maria del Mar, the Ramblas, Plaza Reial, the beaches etc.
It is an open plan studio quipped with a small basic but practical kitchen, WI- FI, double bed and two single beds, the couch also opens out into a small double bed in case you are a family... As an unusual treat it is located on the first floor so there are only a few steps up. There are some supermarkets located in the street as well as nice bars to go and chill out and have a drink. If you are parents there are at least 2 playgrounds very close by with the rare advantage of having cafe's and restaurants at a safe distance to keep an eye on the kids.
The kitchen is equipped with: microwave, kettle, coffee machine, some pots and cooking equipment, hot plate and of course plates, cups, cutlery etc. We also include coffee, tea and basic cooking supplies...
We provide all clean sheets, towels, hand soap and toilet paper. There is Wi- Fi, a plasma screen TV with channels (mostly Spanish TV though) and a telephone with a direct line to our home.
It is GREAT VALUE and it is right in the center of things, it is on an old and famous street in the Gothic quarter. Many artists still live here from older times and it is a pedestrianized street so it has kept its untouched local charm. Although the Gothic quarter can be noisy the apartment is receives very little noise from the streets outside, a super plus for this location!
The metro is less than a two minute walk away, there is a taxi stand around the corner, the bus stop is also a minute away. Mostly however you don't need transport to get around as walking will be more than sufficient.
We can also put you in touch with people who do great deals on airport transport (25 - 34 euro depending on the time of day includes 4 people and 4 bags and please note: we do have a late check in fee - but it can be discussed as sometimes we can make a late check in with no problems and other times not, generally please ask for check in's that occur after 22:30.
We do not charge for children under 3.
We love hosting, especially people who treat our spaces with care and respect :) If you have a question, don´t hesitate to ask - we do our best to answer in your language if possible we speak Spanish, French or English .
Depending on your reservation a basic self service breakfast can be provided for your first morning -
Milk, coffee, tea, cereal, bread and jam. If you had any specific requirements we can discuss it!
Note: there is an extra fee for air conditioning during the summer months, it is optional depending on the need or not!
Many greetings and maybe we will see you soon,
Anu and Flo
We really want you to comfortable and at home in this space, we just ask that you treat the apartment as you would do your home!
We ask the following:
- It is very important to respect the noise level for the neighbours, being in the centre of the city means sharing space with many more people, therefore you must be very conscious of your noise pollution. There are HUGE fines in Barcelona for disrespecting the neighbours, so keep this in mind!
- Please only smoke on the balcony, or by the window.
- Can you throw your rubbish out after 8pm outside the front door of apartment block
- Turn off all lights/electrical equipment when you leave the house
- Keep shoes off the beds and sofa's and when making the sofa bed please be gentle!
- We like to provide nice things for our costumers, but sometimes things go missing and that makes us sad :( Do try to be careful when packing that you take what is yours. If you forget something we will do the same for you!
- It is important to let us know your check in time (we can only check you in after 13:00 and we have a late check in fee of 10 euro after 22:45)
If you are going to be later than you arranged with us please let us know, we do not mind waiting up to 30 minutes from the time we agreed on but you arrive outside this it will be up to you to call to get the keys...
Thank you :)
I was pretty disappointed with my stay last weekend.
Prior to my arrival Anu and Flo were very responsive on email.
On arrival we were greeted by Anu and Flo's friend who showed us around. We then established the back not only didn't close properly but also didn't have a lock.
When I rang Flo to ask about it they reassured me that the next door neighbours who would have access to our terrace and back door were trustworthy I really wasn't happy with this set up. I had to put a lot of trust into somebody I had never met.
As 2 single girls it made us feel really uneasy staying there and we also had valuable/ sentimental things with us so we had to take these with us everywhere which is less an ideal in Barcelona.
Having a basic facility as a back door closing/locking is something no one should have to put up with in paid accommodation.
Air con didn't work.
On check out we waited for the cleaner to meet with us but she didn't turn up so we ended up greeting the new guests who also didn't seem impressed.
I tried to ring, text, what's app and email Flo and Anu to let them know what had happened but still 4 days later am yet to get a reply.
I have always had really good air bnb experiences but this have left me with a really bad taste.
We met with Flo and he was very helpful in giving us some tips on what we could do in Barcelona. Oviso (just a few blocks away) is as excellent for breakfast as he recommended.
The 'tree top' bunk bed was pretty cool. The apt was located in a great location and close to everything we needed, including transportation.
Some of the sheets on one of the beds smelled kinda funky and we didn't receive a response back to get new ones, so we just dealt with it. Wifi is pretty spotty and goes in and out.
Overall, it's a cool place to stay.
Flo seemed like a really nice, laid back guy who was helpful and gave some good advice about the city. However the apartment is nothing like the pictures and it's really not clean at all. The fact that it wasn't secure, the aircon didn't work and there were no smoke alarms etc were the biggest worry for me and whoever else stays there.
Lastly, the cockroach infestation is unbelievable. My partner was catching several every day - big ones as well. That made me really quite angry and disappointed in how greedy people can be...
Although basic, the apartment couldn't have been in a better location for bars and restaurants or for exploring the Gothic quarter. We were welcomed and given great guidance on what was around us. The outside seating area was a bonus. If you want to feel like a local, rather than a hotel guest, this is good for the price.
Apartment was clean. There was a mix up about arrival times and meeting for key drop offs, but Anu and Ben went out of their way to get things taken care of. Ben made some excellent recommendations of things to do in Barcelona which inspired us to visit some places we wouldn't have otherwise. Bathroom is enclosed, but outside of main living space.
This apartment is very near most main attractions in downtown Barcelona.
