Worst experience in bali by far. There's a whole list of reasons. First of which was no running water.
I stayed in villas for the same price range in ubud, seminyak, and Uluwatu for the last few weeks so I have a good basis of comparison.
First, the location is NOT what you're picturing as Uluwatu. You'll be in the middle of nowhere with sand loaded roads that make it difficult to ride a motorcycle. I don't think this was even in Uluwatu technically.
Second, the neighbors have dogs, some sort of buffalo or cow that moos all day and a bunch of roosters that go absolutely nuts at 5/6 in the morning. For this, we were handed ear plugs the second we got there.
Third, all previous places I stayed at that said "wifi" under my specific search guidelines on air Bnb, actually had wifi. Here, something is hooked up which is "4g" and loads a screen when connecting to it. It's all in Indonesian, and so Internet was impossible. This threw a wrench in the work I needed to do. Why would I pay to use your 4g lte when I have it on my phone already paid for????????
FOURTH: NO RUNNING WATER. we got there, and we're shown the villa. After the assistants left, we tried washing hands. Nothing. So we didn't think anything of it. Perhaps an individual tap. We went out to eat, came back and no running water that night. ANYWHERE IN THE HOUSE. called, and we were sent someone the following morning who "fixed" thE water at around 10am next day. By "fix" I mean that the water leaked out of the faucets in dribbles. Had to shower in less than a minute before it ran out completely mid-soaping. We were told it would be properly fixed, but that never happened.
FIFTH, we asked for motor bikes to get to any sort of civilization. We were provided those by the assistant. One "helmet" had the foam taken out and a piece of black cloth was casually slapped on as "cushion". The purple/fuchsia bike was misaligned by about 15-20 degrees. Kept angling while driving.
In essence, worst experience in bali. Ruined the end of my stay there.
My stay at the 2 bedroom villa with private pool for 9 days was excellent. Nicolas is very helpful in providing me with useful information on places to visit, especially white sand beaches and restaurants during my visit in Bali for a wedding banquet. His driver and Assistant are very helpful and friendly whom we feel so thankful. I had a wonderful stay with my mum. The only comment I want to make is that the villa is located near a busy road with cafes and shops within walking distance and you may find some traffic at night time... Depends on what you want. Overall my stay was wonderful. I love our villa in Bali!
Nicholas was friendly and made the necessary arrangements for us. The villa is a quiet and nice place to relax. Pool was kept fit for use. Komang and Pande, the friendly couple who made up our villa did a great job. Accessibility: Bluebird Taxis would be most useful in getting around.
We had a great time at this villa. Nicolas is a great host, and his staff (Pande and Komang) were also very kind and helpful. This villa looks 100% as it is shown in photos, and even better. Close to many cafes, shops and restaurants, close to GWK park. You will require scooter or taxi to go to the beaches. Villa is very clean and cosy, the location is quiet. We wish Nicolas nice customers and all the best to him and his staff! Thank you, Anastasia and Kirill from Moscow.
My boyfriend and I had a great time in South Kuta and at this villa. We were looking for something relatively basic, but private and comfortable, and it suited our needs perfectly.
As far as the location goes, you will need to rent a bike if you want to get around and explore, but that's the best part of visiting Bali if you ask me. Pande (Nicolas' assistant) was very helpful with the bike rental, and it's so affordable. I recommend Kafein in Balangan for nice coffee and good vibes, and the Samara resort or Karma Kandara resort for stunning views and great food.
There were definitely more ants in the villa than in other places I've stayed in Bali (as one reviewer previously mentioned), but if you don't leave food out you're fine! And since the great thing about Balinese architecture is the indoor/outdoor design, I think a few insects are to be expected.
Overall a very functional, private, and comfortable stay!
We had a great stay @ Villa Kencana. Nicolas was a great host . So very relaxing, but our 2 days was not long enough. Close to shops & restaurants. Loved it and we would, and have, recommended it to others.
We love our stay in this villa. Everything is perfect! Love the kitchen area, the living room and the room too! Is just a great place for us to relaxing. Nicolas also very friendly and helpful to us. Looking forward to stay there again
