Stay near everything cool in Austin including Barton Springs Pool. The Peaceful Haven is a spiritual retreat from your busy day or a crash pad at the end of the night. If location, peace, color, comfort and unique art matter you will love my space.
PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS BEFORE YOU BOOK SO YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE GETTING. The entire space is shown in the photos. The space is about 300 SQ. FT. I have three cats that might want to join you in the space (up to you if you want to let them). Sadly they clearly are not happy with other animals on the property so...I'm sorry but NO PETS.
SIX PEOPLE CAN SLEEP HERE. HOWEVER, IT WOULD BE VERY TIGHT AND A BIT UNCOMFORTABLE. I WOULD PROBABLY RECOMMEND ONLY FOUR. There are 3 double futons but the space would have the two on the main floor so tight it would be hard to move around with ease.
I am requesting a two night minimum stay on weekends but a one night stay is fine during the week. Requests for last minute (within24 hours) one night weekend stays will be considered. Please ask.
My house is located less than a mile from Zilker Park. It is pretty much near anything you would want to do. I am renting the building in the back of my home which is where I work.
There are two futons on the floor, tons of pillows, and another double size futon in the loft. There is no typical bed with a mattress. Just futons. It looks exactly like the photos. It has a very small bathroom. The shower is so small it is difficult to bend over in (just being honest). This is exceptionally small for a lot of people but I have had many groups of 4 or more. I like to think of it as a welcoming, warm, crash pad.
It is a very spiritual space that I like to call the peaceful haven. I am seeking very respectful, clean guests that will honor the energy of the space. Normally the space is used for my intuitive consulting and teaching. It's a quiet peaceful space and clearly not a place to party. Please don't even consider it. The neighbors expect not to hear each other after 10pm so thank you for honoring them as well as the space. No smoking of anything anywhere on the property. Thank you in advance for honoring these requests.
My house was entered in the most colorful house in the world contest and everything about my house is artful. It is also on the Austin Yard Art Tour. There is plenty of fun art all over the place. The fence is an entire undersea mural. It truly is "Keeping Austin Weird".
Everyone that sleeps here says it is peaceful and quiet. This is a fantastic location in a colorful place but there are no other amenities besides a peaceful nights sleep.
The zip code of the rental is 78704 which you might know is close to SOCO and downtown. Barton Springs Pool and Zilker Park are right down the street. There is a bus not too far away but I would always recommend a car to get around in Austin. Renting from me comes with free tourist advice. I have lived here since 1981 and really do know Austin.
I have three young cats. Boowee, Beauty, and Bunny (all female). You can let them in the space with you or not. It is up to you. If you have pet allergies, you should be totally okay as we clean so well between guests there is no left over animal residue from the last one.
ACL, SXSW, X-GAMES and F1 are $295 per night. There is a 4 night minimum for special events except for SXSW which is a 5 night minimum.
Yes, there is a hot tub but there are "issues", so sadly it is not available.
The neighborhood is filled with homes from as early 1900's to modern remodels. All the homes on my street started as 1960's Ranch style. Today you never know what you will find next door or a block away. Regardless, we are truly a neighborhood that has real neighbors who know each other and walk, bike, drive the hood.
I always recommend a car in Austin. Parking is in front of my house on the street. The closest bus is about 1/2 mile away. Airport cab is about $30 or the local public Airport flyer bus to Riverside and Congress. Taxi from that location is probably less that $10.00 or a long walk to bike rental 1/2 mile from my home.

We had a great time at Lois's place in Austin this weekend! Such a nice relaxing vibe, close to everything we wanted to do and an extremely unique atmosphere to say the least. The place was extremely clean and organized, and Lois was quick to respond to any questions we had regarding our stay. We will definitely be back!!! :)
This was my first Airbnb experience so I wasn't sure what to expect. Lois' place was so fun and different and helped to make our stay in Austin a memorable one. My kids loved exploring all the quirky, colorful art and fell in love with the playful and hilarious cats. Watch out for Beauty - that cat loves guacamole! Lois was helpful and gracious and the room was clean and pleasant. I would recommend this place for anyone who wants to experience the "Keep Austin Weird" campaign up close.
I loved staying here! Truly welcoming, clean, quiet, and peaceful. One really nice extra was the rain on the metal roof it was the icing on my stay.
You'll love how comfortable and soft the futons on the floor are. Also, there is plenty of clean covers, sheets, tons of towels and washcloths. Everything is just so, but very relaxed and the place looks like the pictures.
Parking was very easy as there was always a place open right in front. Can't wait to stay again.
Lois is just as amazing as her space. We drove in from SC and Lois accommodated us last minute very quickly. As tired as we were after our 17hr drive we found Lois' rental and presence energizing yet relaxing at the same time- exactly what we needed. Her guest home with a private bathroom is extremely clean and creatively decorated. Want the the authentic Austin experience? Stay with Lois, she's knowledgable (she leaves you with a really informative what to do in Austin locals' insider guide) and Lois really makes you feel at home offering the level of privacy you wish to have. Thanks Lois, you were so awesome!
The accommodation was great. We all had a good night.
The house is 5 minutes away from Austin downtown by car. All the decoration was positively original.
We greatly appreciate spending a night here. By the way, the cats are very nice !
Wonderful and charming, this spot embodies the ideals of all things Austin! Can't beat the location either - within walking distance to my favorite spots along Barton Springs road and Zilker Park! Lois was a great host - all instructions were very detailed, which is helpful, and gave great advice on places to eat. I will certainly stay again next time in Austin.
It was *so* nice to return to Lois's bright and well-vibed getaway after long days of conferencing in a monochromatic hotel. Lois is fantastic, and her thoughtful folder chock-full of Austin recommendations arm you with the knowledge necessary to experience all sorts of interesting places. Highly recommended!
Lois was a great host. Her place is very comfortable, private, quiet, and was a great refuge from SXSW. The neighborhood is very quiet and safe, and just a stone's throw from Zilker park. It's also in a great location for just seeing Austin. I would definitely stay here again.
Lois was very welcoming friendly and checked to make sure that we were settled in well. She helped us out with our dinner and entertainment plans in the evening. I would stay again and recommend her cozy cottage to anyone. To all future guests, Please enjoy. Cheers :)
If you're looking for somewhere to stay in Austin that's near downtown but has a quiet, chill vibe, this is the place. I only got to stay one night, but I had no problems. There are some friendly cats that will visit you so if you're allergic beware. I would not only recommend staying there, but I would stay again as well.
