Light bright and airy - this spacious penthouse has room for the whole family, and a choice of outdoor living areas, along with every American amenity you could want! (Plus many you'd never think of. )
Acropolis View Alpha Plus is our largest and most requested penthouse with Acropolis and Lykavittos views from the living room and wraparound balcony, sleeps up to 10 guests in three spacious bedrooms, one with a Queen bed and a twin bed, one with a King bed and a twin bed, and the other with a Queen bed and two twin beds. The spacious living room accommodates two additional guests on a sofa sleeper. There are three full baths, two of which are en suite. One en suite bath has a jacuzzi style whirlpool and hydromassage shower, while the other two bathrooms have hydrojet showers only. Every room in this home opens to a wraparound balcony, and the Terrace Studio opens directly to a private area off the roof garden. Additional roof garden space for dining al fresco and relaxing in an outdoor living room is shared with between our Alpha and Beta apartments. (My husband and I own the roof terrace so it is only accessible to us and our guests in the Acropolis View Alpha and Beta apartments.)
Our fully air conditioned penthouse was designed to offer our guests a true home away from home, familiar and comfortable with the same amenities they have at home. We may be the only apartment in the Athens area in general to offer a full size washer and clothes dryer, luxury bed and bath linens, plush bath robes, and all natural bath and body products.
Our guests in also enjoy the use of FREE UNLIMITED high speed wireless internet along with FREE UNLIMITED international phone service to the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and several other EU countries and IPOD docking stations in each of our apartments. Each apartment also has a computer (and a printer is available on advance request).
And finally, for our North American guests, we've tried to consider your needs by including an area for charging your 110v cell phones, IPODs, laptops and small hair appliances like shavers and curling irons (although we provide hair dryers, a curling iron and a flat iron in the bathrooms). We are quite certain you won't find a furnished rental, b & b or even a 5 star hotel in all of Greece with this unique amenity!
This penthouse is conveniently located in the museum area of downtown Athens (Pagrati/Caravel), between the Hilton Hotel and the Old Olympic Stadium. It is a 15 minute walk to the historical center and Syntagma Square, past the Old Olympic Stadium and Hadrian's Arch or through the National Gardens. The Evaggelismos metro station is 5 - 7 minutes by foot as are most of the finest museums in Athens (the National Art Gallery, Benaki Museum, Museum of Cycladic Art, the Byzantine Museum & the Museum of Contemporary Art). Most of our guests choose to walk to Plaka and the Acropolis from the apartment, others prefer to take the trolley from the stand around the corner.

This apartment is a gem in Athens. Location is in a very residential area, but with plenty of shops/kiosks and supermarkets nearby. People use "nearby" too literally sometimes, but in this case, there really is a kiosk just outside the front door which opens till late at night. Plenty of authentic (to me at least) Greek restaurants a short walk away down ymittou avenue, or if you're not in the mood for that, there's a KFC 2 doors away from the apartment.
Syntagma square is a fair bit further away, and is walkable (25 minutes at a stroll), but cabs are cheap (about 3-4 euros) and plentiful anyway.
As for the apartment itself, it's generously sized with extra beds in every room. Furnishing and toilet amenities are modern and it also comes with a lovely dining area complete with dishwasher, oven, induction stove should you want to cook, and a full sized fridge. Other amenities include a PC (in case you don't have your own device), thoughtful umbrellas for your use and a washing machine and dryer - it really IS comprehensive.
As we rented the full apartment (it is cleverly designed and allows the landlord to lease out a smaller or larger unit dependent on customer needs), we had a choice of viewing the acropolis through the lower floor balcony or the gorgeous upper floor terrace (as pictured in the brochure). Nothing short of spectacular and I highly recommend getting the complete unit even if you don't need the sleeping space. (The upstairs floor includes another room and toilet along with the aforementioned terrace)
Loved it and will be back surely!
We had a wonderful 6 days in Athens. Carole was great help before the trip. The roof terrace is spectacular. There is a taxi rank 50m from the apartment and we found taxis cheap in Athens.
The listing was very comfortable and clean, a great place for a family/group holiday. There where 4 of us and the apartment provided a room for each of us. so there was adequate privacy. the two balcony spaces were more than adequate . Elevator was a little small could only take 2 at time, so usually we had to shuttle or take the stairs (6 floors). Traffic could be a bit noisy but it is a down town apartment so no real problems. All in all a great place to stay. lots of shops and coffee bars nearby.
Carole and Basil have the most beautiful apartment. Everything was in working order. Carole will provide you with a 40 page welcome document that pretty much tells you everything you need to know about the apartment, the area, and places to go. Basil, Carole and Nadia are on hand to answer your questions. Instructions for the wifi are listed next to the router. Instructions for the TV were listed next to the TV. There were six of us and she provided extra towels and a welcome basket which included treats and wine. After just coming off our flight, this was a very welcome and appreciated surprise. Carole arranged pickup and dropoff at the apartment with Nikos - who is the best. He is knowedgeable and personable. We had originally signed on for two tours with him, but we decided to do our last day with him also because he was a pleasure to have host our visits to the various sites. It was like driving around with my greek cousin, except I'm not greek. I felt like we were family as he readily talks about his family and his life and life in Greece. This made it an even richer experience for me. He took us to a secret gem of a restaurant where it was definitely not touristy and the food was inexpensive but tasted like heaven. In short, my experience with Carole and Basil and Nikos epitomizes every benefit I expect to get from renting on Airbnb rather than a commericial hotel. There is a personal touch and attention to detail you just can't get anywhere else. I highly recommend this fabulous, comfortable, fantastic apartment and Nikos as your private driver. I was particularly happy because I chose Carole and Basil's place to celebrate my sister's 50th with her and 4 other people and everyone was delighted with the place.
Carole and Nadia were amazing throughout our entire trip. The house is exactly as depicted in the photos. We were comfortable, had a lot of room to move around in. The rooftop deck was wonderful and provided plenty of space. It had views of the Acropolis, wrap around deck and all the amenities you could need. We had access to many food options, shopping and walking distance to other areas. Carole and Nadia were very accomodating. Answering all emails, returning calls, arranging for trips, stopping by to make sure we were ok. Thanks again and excellent apartment!
7 family members and 2 friends had 4 nights in this well appointed Apartment in early May. It is in a great location with fantastic eating places on the street below. Handy to visit the sites of Athens. The Apartment itself was spacious and had all you could want and more.including a much enjoyed "welcome pack" very comfy beds. I would certainly recommend this Apartment to anyone wanting to visit Athens...

Who would have thought when I boarded a plane for Greece more than 20 years ago, planning on backpacking through the mountains and then heading north through then Yugoslavia I'd end up making Greece my second home?
But here I am, 20 something years later, running a fabulous Greek vacation rental business with historic homes & penthouses in Athens and traditional Cycladic homes on the island of Tinos, planning Greek travel itineraries and leading small group tours around my adopted homeland and loving the life that I am lucky enough to be living. Of course I did pick up an equally crazy, workaholic Greek husband along the way, as well as a stray Greek animal or two!
Update: End of August 2013 .... This year Basil and I celebrate 10 years opening our Greek vacation rentals with guests from around the world. All these years we've been hopping between Basil's home city, Athens and Carole's home city of Chicago. Time and time again guests in Greece ask us if they can stay in our Chicago home while we're in Athens.... so we're finally doing it - we've just completed the renovation of a fab 2 bedroom 2 bath loft in our 10,000 sq foot Lincoln Park hybrid warehouse (which in a previous life housed a bar and a dance hall, followed by a costume and magic card factory and then a photography studio where probably every Butterball turkey advertisement in the 1980s was shot .... the photos, not the turkeys!)
So come stay with us ... and then stay with us again. Whether we share an ouzo in Athens or a beer and a hot dog in Chicago, we know that you won't be disappointed.
