Interaction with Guests
I interact with my guests as much or as little as they wish, schedule permitting. This has ranged from having dinner together, going on a run in the neighborhood, taking a yoga class together to greeting them and not seeing them again.
We live in a very quiet, secluded area in the middle of the woods yet downtown is a 5m drive away.
A car is the most convenient way to get around. Bicycles also work.

We greatly enjoyed our stay at Judy's home in East Hampton and recommend her enthusiastically. Judy was very gracious, courteous and eager to please. Our room was comfortable and very quiet. The bathroom is huge. All in all, we had a delightful stay and are deeply grateful to Judy and her family.
I had a great stay with Judy over the weekend. She was very prompt in responding to messages and was extremely helpful with suggestions. Her house is a good value option in the area, which suited my needs perfectly. There are some good running trails in the area. Unfortunately it rained most of the time so I was unable to enjoy the pool, however it did look inviting. Breakfast was simple yet effective and Judy was fine with me storing a few items in the fridge, including fish that I caught in Montauk. I would recommend coming here with a car, otherwise you will be very reliant on taxis, which is not ideal. The Wifi also worked well, which is important as I have to keep an eye on work emails over the weekend. I would definitely stay here again.
Not only was Judy very hospitable, but her home also allowed for a well-needed weekend away from the city life, which was very comfortable because of how courteous she is as a person and host. She is very helpful in giving advice on places to see, etc. Thank you Judy, I had a great time
A friend at I spent 2 nights and 3 days at Judy's place in the Hamptons. She responded immediately to my messages and answered all my questions in a timely manner. All the information given by her was accurate and I would def follow it to keep your stay as comfortable as possible. Judy kept me up to date with any changes in the bookings (we were shifted to a different room in the house and the swimming pool wasn't operational because it was still cold) The room and bathroom were clean, spacious with lovely hot water and there was ample closet space. Everything was exactly as it looks like in the pictures ! The mudroom and private entrance were great, as it allowed us to come and go as we please and not bring sand into the house. We also had access to a private deck and the pool and garden, all of which we enjoyed sitting around ( it was too cold to swim, but the pool looked great!) The Wifi was excellent. Judy was a superb host, giving us all the advice we asked for as well as hints on which restaurants to go to and what beach to visit and the pros and cons of using taxis in the Hamptons ( we didn't have a car) She also gave us our space and it definitely felt like we had that part of the house to ourselves. We had asked for coffee and a cold breakfast to be available, and both were present in the mornings and thoroughly enjoyed on her deck overlooking the garden and pool. She also let us use her land line as cell phone reception is negligible in that part of the Hamptons. The Village center and beach were a short drive away and we wouldn't have minded walking if we had enough time. Though East Hampton is small, the towns nearby that we visited (Amagansett) were a short drive away and had great night life. All in all, it was a great trip and we are grateful to Judy for opening up her home to us and look forward to staying with her once more !
Wow Judy, thank you for your hospitality over the labor day weekend. Leading up to our stay, Judy communicated in a very timely manner and made herself available for any questions we may have had. The accommodations met and exceeded our expectations. Very roomy and clean and about a 10 minute drive from the East Hampton beaches. Judy had good recommendations for local dining too and we definitely plan to stay here again.
My wife and I had a very enjoyable, relaxing stay with Judy and Ted and their 10 year old son, Erick. The property is in the woods (yet breezy) with a nice-sized pool and patio chaises. The accommodations are exactly as described - very clean - and the bed very comfortable (with good linens). The bathroom is spacious and has a bath as well as separate shower.
Judy is very warm and welcoming and takes an interest in her guests' well being. We enjoyed breakfast every morning on the deck. Ted is an award-winning cartoonist and author, widely traveled and very interesting to converse with.
Highly recommended and we look forward to a return visit soon.
I booked this for my parents (both in their late 60's and both frequent travelers who are willing to stay in any conditions) and they did not have a good experience.
The toilet was blocked when they arrived. They had to ask for a second pillow and the shower also did not drain properly. I am aware that septic systems are sensitive in the Hamptons but if you are renting on Airbnb and charging as much as we were charged then make the effort to check your plumbing before guests arrive.
There was only one pillow which was tiny and they had to ask for another. There was little space to put there stuff. In general, and not helped by the incredible amount of noise at 6am on the last day, this was a terrible airbnb experience and I would not recommend it to anyone.
I will be making a formal complaint.
It was unfortunate that the toilet was blocked. There was a lot of rain the days previously but as soon as I was notified of the problem, I resolved the problem ASAP. Toilets can be blocked at the Four Seasons as well.
Since Matthew did not stay here, he did not know that there were TWO pillows. When his mother asked for two more pillows, I also immediately provided them.
Again since Matthew was not here, he cannot know that there were two large drawers provided for storage and half a large closet. This has always been ample storage space for every other guest who has stayed for a much longer period than two days.
Regarding the noise, most of my guests have enjoyed the sound of crickets chirping in the night and birds singing in the morning. It is unfortunate that Mathew's parents found it so onerous.
I can only guess that Matthew was so mean in his review because I declined his request to discount the room rental price. Since it was August in the Hamptons, I doubt he would have found anyone who would have done so. I certainly regret renting to him and his parents. The parents seemed nice enough, though rather cold and unfriendly. I never met Mathew, fortunately.

About the Host, Judy
The three of us (me, a partner, a 11 yr old) live here in what I think of as a treehouse, because of the wraparound deck surrounded by beautiful woods. We have a live and let live attitude but are respectful and considerate of the fact that our guests are on vacation.
We recently went on a mostly vegan diet for health reasons so we now offer extremely wholesome but simple breakfast stuff.
We welcome guests who are neat, quiet, considerate and respectful of the fact that this is our home. Our rooms have real furnishings that we use and like. We expect our guests to treat the rooms carefully and gently, as if they were visiting their grandmother's home.
We don't get to travel as much as we used to so love to do it vicariously through people we meet on Airbnb.
I love occasionally teaching yoga at local studios and enjoy having company.
