Casa Buena Vista B & B room 1

Bed & Breakfast - Private room · Sendero los monos, Manuel Antonio, Puntarenas, Costa Rica

The Space

A private home lodging located in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica with a spectacular post card ocean/ jungle view.
A short walk to the beach and the National Park. We are not a hotel so if you enjoy staying in a home this is the right place.

A full kitchen is available for your use but breakfast is service in the main house. A large deck overlooking the ocean and tropical rainforest is a wonderful way to see wildlife or just relax with a cold drink and good book.

Manuel Antonio and the National Park is internationally known for its breathtaking beauty and abundance of wildlife. Without even moving from our deck you can see monkeys (3 kinds), sloths, coatis, tucans and lots more in their natural environment. Our garden has many species of tropcial plants including heliconias, cinnamon, allspice, papaya, bananas, pineapples and orchids. We are a 10 min walk to the beach. Everything you need can be found within walking distance. A small supermarket, banks, gift shops and some of the best restaurants in the area are a short distance away. Looking directly at the National Park we have one of the best views in Manuel Antonio. Our very small friendly bi-lingual staff with many years of living in Costa Rica, can make any tour reservations for you. If you would like to go sailing, river rafting, parasailing, horseback riding, kayak through the mangrove, or swing through the canopy we can arrange it for you.
All our guests may use the deck and livingroom/kitchen area of the teak house. The view is spectacular and there is a hammock and lots of deck chairs to sit and watch the monkeys passing though the trees.

I will only receive guests after 6 pm by direct request, so ask first if you plan on arriving at night.

  • I stayed for two nights in Manuel Antonio and for this time I booked a room in Casa Buena Vista. It is very well located. The beach is very close and also the centre of Manuel Antonio. The breakfast was very good and also the rooms are big and clean. Anita is very helpful and nice. She gives very good recommendations for Manuel Antonio and the neighbourhood. If I will go again to Manuel Antonio, I would stay again in Casa Buena Vista, but than I'll take a room with A/C because it is very hot there!

  • Our stay at Casa Buena Vista was a fantastic intro to Manuel Antonio. She is an incredible host and her place is gorgeous. It was fun watching monkeys while lying in bed! And she gave us many tips including two passages to beaches we would never have found otherwise. As others have said, there are some stairs to be gone up and down but that was no problem for us. I also want to comment on the wonderful common room and deck. We really felt welcome here and would love to come back one of these years.

  • Anita was very kind and helpful. The room was clean and had amazing views. I would recommend Casa Buena Vista.

  • Casa Buena Vista is a great place to stay in Manuel Antonio, with good walking access to the beach and national park as well as restaurants, grocery stores, etc. It has a great view of the magnificent Manuel Antonio coastline, and although the hills can be a bit strenuous, it's downhill to the beach and park, and you can ride the bus back up the hill at the end of the day. Anita was a great hostess, serving up a delicious breakfast each day, good conversation and in-depth knowledge of the area where she has lived for 40 years. Our room was quite pleasant as was the communal porch, but we didn't use the kitchen as it wasn't very well stocked with glassware and dishes. All in all, we would definitely recommend this B&B to others wanting a comfortable stay with a friendly and helpful host.

  • Anita was not there when we arrived, but we were well received by Nuria (her housekeeper).
A room very clean, beautiful view of the forest and the sea, an "alarm clock" with the cries of howler monkeys. Breakfast plentiful, varied and very good. A very good atmosphere, nice terrace, we warmly recommend the rooms at Anita.

  • We had such a great time there ! We had the room 1 and we really enjoy the way everything was set up at Casa Buena Vista, the deck is a very nice quiet place to relax, surrounded by Nature wherever we are and really good breakfasts we enjoyed sharing with everybody and with such an amazing view, great way to start the day. Anita and her very nice employee made our stay really really great ! Beaches are in a walking distance (little hike!) as well as restaurants and a 10 minute walk to get the bus to go either to Quepos or the Park, cheapest and most convenient way to move. Our only "regret" was most of restaurants and places to eat around had nothing very local, you have to go to Quepos for that, of course we knew we were going to a touristic area but we had this little disappointment about the area but that is a teeny tiny detail compared to the whole experience and regarding our place to stay, it is exactly how we imagined our -too short- trip in Costa Rica and we hope to stop by again someday !

  • We stayed with Anita at Casa buena vista for 5 days. While the accomadations are very nice and clean we do however have a few things we did not like. Casa buena vista is located on an incredibly steep hill which prevented us from venturing out too often, you really need a vehicle if staying there. Although we had a great view of the ocean from our room ,it was quite the trek up and down the roads just to get to the beach which we did not like. The other downfall was is there really should be a pool at Casa buena vista. Considering how hot it gets there and the fact it is far from the beach, a pool would have been perfect for guest to interact with each other as well. The room we stayed in # 1 was very nice but right next to the busy road and with there being no glass on the windows we heard every noise including the vehicles going by at 4 and 5 in the morning,so we never had a good nights sleep. While sitting on the deck from the kitchen we had the white faced monkeys visit on many occasions, we also had howler monkeys which are amazing ans scary to hear at 3am in the morning. Anita and her housekeeper are wonderful and make the stay easy. As I said, other than location on a steep hill and no pool, Anita does a great job with making guest feel at home.

  • It was very easy to get to the beautiful beach after having a lovely French toast breakfast at Anita's B&B. Thank you Anita!

  • We had a great stay at Anita's! She was very helpful and responsive. We were able to switch up our reservations last minute as our trip changed. Great location, and the best shower I had on the whole trip!

  • Anita has a beautiful spot in my favorite city in Costa Rica. The prices are incredibly reasonable, and her morning breakfasts allowed me to get to know some great fellow travelers.

About
I discover Manuel Antonio 38 years ago after graduating the University of California in Berkeley. Don Melton and myself first did a research project in the National Park and adjoining beaches and decided to make Punta Quepos our home. Don was the local historian and gave educational talks for many groups including National Geografic. We were among the founders of the first Chamber of Tourism in Manue Antonio, founders of ASCONA (Quepos first conservation organization), and have continued to be active in civic and conservations groups to date. I am currently working with a group to establish an animal shelter here in our area. (website hidden) We worked for many years on the problem of drownings (see page 7). I ran my gift shop LA BUENA NOTA for many years and because of my extensive knowledge of Costa Rica, I can answer most questions about our area and some advice about other tourist destinations in Costa Rica.
