About this listing
Our cozy, unique ocean front cabin has everything and more than what you've always thought a cabin should have. Come and see, and you'll never want to leave. The price listed includes cleaning fees for up to 4 people (extra fees apply if more).
Two cozy chairs for you to curl up on while you watch and listen to the Funday waves hit the shoreline just below you!
This ocean front cozy cabin is a private lot with access to the rocky and pebble mix ever changing landscape of the Bay of Fundy beach. It has everything and more for what you dream of having for a cabin on the ocean - come and see and you won't want to leave! It must be said that the waters are not meant for swimming in the summer - far too cold for most . However, the scenic view, sunsets, beach combing for sea life, mussel picking (oh yes a wonderful bed of fresh mussels) bon fire appeal, it is truly a wonderful place to relax. Every season has it's treasures.
We are located approx 1 hour from the city of Halifax - and for most tourist attractions throughout central Nova Scotia - 1 to 2 hours max of driving. It has three bedrooms, one on the main level a 3/4 size bed, two upstairs one is a queen the other a double - also a cozy couch for someone else to curl up on in the living room. If you are looking for a true Nova Scotia cottage, rural experience, this is it. With a wood fireplace and newly installed heat pump, along with electric heaters, you will never be cold even in the dead of winter. We have a wonderful selection of music in cds for the stereo or records to play on the record player. TV for watching movies (no satellite or local tv though), books and games- even if it rains you'll have lots to do. We recently added an outdoor soaker tub for two - great for starry nights! (not available Jan-Mar). And most recently....an outdoor Pizza cook oven !
We've built this cabin ourselves. It truly has been a labour of love we have built for our family. It is the perfect spot for young and old alike. It has some very unique features that make for lots of fun with faux stained glass work, unique water access, funky ceilings, and so much more. All wood flooring except the bathroom - which is equipped with a shower but no tub. There is a washing machine (not available in winter) and clothes line. Down by the bluff, you'll find (2) two seater benches and a beach swing as well as a hidden sheltered area lit at night with mini lights - There is access to the beach but if you have "unstable/arthritic" knees, we will direct you just down the road to a very friendly entrance. (appox 1 min. drive from cottage)
Fresh bedding (including the top blankets), towels, shampoo, conditioner, blow dryer, even a flat iron available - kitchen fully equipped including condiments, spices and standard baking supplies such as flour, sugar etc. - Barbeque on deck, lots of firewood for fireplace and outdoor pit (included in price). Just email us and we can let you know what we have.
We also do offer special rates for families - no charge for children 10 and under! Ask us when you request a booking and we'll give you a special offer. Our goal has always been to make it affordable for families too!
Just a two minute drive from the cottage you'll be at the harbour with a wonderful little German Restaurant with take out & ice cream which serves Canadian as well - and a local gift shop nestled in behind it. (This is a seasonal restaurant and closes September 30 for the winter) If you are looking for fresh lobster or scallops - depends on the catch but we have an inside track on a local fisherman we can share with you!
And from Harbourville, you're only 40 minutes away from Hall's Harbour which is a must see and has more local crafts, a small take out and a lobster pound.
In Berwick, (15 minutes ) you must take in an evening at the Union Street Cafe/Wick's Pub - check them out on the web - every Friday evening they have open mike night - which means if you are musically inclined, you can sign up to sing on stage for a couple songs - this is always hosted by local, more seasoned entertainers from the Valley and offers free mussels and garlic bread at 9 pm - The restaurant and pub menus offer food is second to none and the people are wonderful. They also have several selections on their menu for gluten free diets.
So much to tell you but take too long to write - so firstly - if you have time enough ahead - get yourself a Doer's and Dreamers guide on the Nova Scotia tourism site. We do have one at the cabin for your use along with many local brochures etc.
Another very good site for searching restaurants, local events etc of the Annapolis Valley just type in Annapolis Valley vacations and you'll find it -
What makes us unique is the authenticity of it's Nova Scotia fishing community cottage - We are not a motel/hotel so if you are looking for white glove stay - this is not the place for you but if you are looking for a good old fashion Nova Scotia experience - this is it. We take a great deal of pride in having the place crisp and clean for you.
There is so much to do and see you'll wish you stayed longer!
While you are there, the cabin is yours to use as though it were your own.
