About This Listing
We are located in a cozy three bedroom Garden Suite (no it does not feel like a cave), by Trout Lake in East Van. So, if you like Farmers' Markets, Fire Spinning, playing on the swings, or just sitting and watching the ducks, this is definitely the place to be.
We also have a number of Chinese and (24 hr) Vietnamese restaurants, a vegan pizzeria, a vegetarian Vietnamese, a late night Dosa place, lots of sushi, and arguably the best Thai food outside of Thailand. All easily accessible either walking or by transit.
We are located a five minute walk away from the Nanaimo Skytrain station. Where you can quickly connect to downtown, Stanley Park, UBC, SFU, the airport line, funky Main Street and artsy Commercial Drive.
There is no reserved parking available, but there is usually street parking just up the block, in front of the new Community Orchard.
The room is simply furnished with a comfortable queen bed, desk, small dresser, book shelves and closet. The living room, kitchen and bathroom are shared spaces with two super cool people. We are frequently around, so you will most likely meet both of us while you are here.
We occasionally have random people over for coffee and/or drinks. This usually involves some guitar playing, singing, perhaps a violin, harmonica, spoons, or even a keyboard. Feel free to jump in at any time.
Hope to meet you soon!
Guests have full access to the bathroom, kitchen, living room, and laundry room. Please note, these are shared spaces in our home.
Also, please feel free to help yourself to any of the myriad of tea choices available.
Interaction with Guests
We are not tour guides, but will do our best to answer any questions you may have about things to see and transportation options.
We are a five minute walk from the Nanaimo Skytrain station. This will easily and quickly connect you with all other points of the city.
The house rules are really very simple.
1) Please help keep the place looking tidy. So, please don't leave dirty dishes laying about and if you spill something, wipe it up.
2) Please do not cook meat in the house. I am a veggie and the smell of cooking meat is unappealing. There is a grill you may use to cook with, outside. You are welcome to eat meat, eggs, and/or dairy though.
3) Smile at strangers and laugh often. :D
I stayed here for 13 nights.
The location is very nice. Few minutes walk and there is trout lake and the beautiful park, a little farther but on walking distance, there is commercial drive street where all kinds of restaurants, pubs, cafes and shops can be found. Nanaimo skytrain station is also few minutes walk away as well, so going downtown doesnt take much time. The street and neighbourhood is very quiet, safe and peaceful but if you want to find some city noise, nightlife culture or vibrance, you dont have to travel long.
Jennifer is very nice, welcoming and generous host. It was my first trip to Vancouver and Canada and Jennifer guided me so much about different things, I'll always be thankful for that. She did not seem annoyed or irritated by my questions and she always encouraged me to ask more.
The room was exactly what it looks in the pictures. It was nice, cozy, clean, and well organized. The room has everything that you could possibly make a use of, a big comfortable bed, shelves, drawers, wardrobe, working table, chair, heater and a walk in closet.
Overall the atmosphere in the house is excellent and very friendly. I really enjoyed staying here and would highly recommend. Thank you Jennifer! :)
Very cool flatmates ! They received us with big smiles and really helped us for our first steps in Vancouver !! The place is very well located, very close to downtown by Skytrain, but quiet since it s in a residential area ! Trout lake park is just down the street and very relaxing... I definitely recommend it !!!
The room is simply furnished and very much as described. It is located in a very pleasant, somewhat eclectic residential neighborhood with a fantastic park a half a block away, and a nice restaurant and bar area on the other side of the park.
Jennifer and Clint are friendly, caring hosts, who will happily help guests navigate the city, and promptly invite them to share a drink. The apartment has an open door for their many friends, and on weekend evenings they gather for relaxing parties, to which guests are invited.
Great value for a short stay!
