We loved our room and having a private bath. Location was great as well, we biked through the neighborhood and to the beach. We drove into the city for day trips, but you can also take public transit (learned from other Airbnb guests at the house at the time.) Since there are 3 rooms upstairs with a shared bath and 1 with a private bath on the main floor, it had a feel of staying at a quaint hostel as we met other people staying there, but not the host.
We had a lovely stay in Winthrop. The room is clean and spacious, with a big comfortable bed. The ensuite bathroom is great. We didn't have the chance to meet Gerta, but had nice contact with all the other airbnb guests. We didn't have a car, but there is a small supermarket nearby and you can travel to Boston in about 30 minutes by bus and train.
Gerta's house was beautiful and in a nice neighborhood. Didn't have any issues getting there. Gerta and her family were gone on vacation, so we didn't get to meet her. The house was nice and clean and ready for us when we got there. My only issue was that we didn't realize that we would be sharing the house with 3+ other families. That information was not given to us when we booked the room, but was not an issue. Everyone we stayed with was nice and friendly and was not a bother. Gerta is a nice host.
This was perfect for what we needed as a family...My husband and I child with our Toddler and it was wonderful to have a "home" like experience; along with our own private bath. It is very quiet and we were greeted by Gertas daughter. She answered all our questions and then some. The town of Winthrop is beautiful and we loved eating at local restaurants when we didn't want to deal with downtown Bostons busy atmosphere.
Thanks so much, Gerta! We will be back! Wish we could have met you...hope you had a great vacation as well. :)
Host is very efficient and helpful. Nice place and extremely clean and well maintained. I highly recommend to this place to anyone
This was such a beautiful room/house to stay at. The summer breeze at night is so relaxing and calming. The neighborhood is a small town outside of Boston and it's very cute and so safe. The only thing is that it was a little hard to get into Boston and back so we would spend a whole day in Boston and get back at night (no time for naps). We tried to taxi a few times from the closest station to the house and to the airport, but it can get kind of pricey.
The room was very clean and looked like the picture. Everything went pretty smoothly.
