Double room with access to large shared bathroom (bath, shower, vanity) and separate wc.
YOU WON'T FIND A BETTER LOCATION IN AUCKLAND, situated RIGHT ON the stunning Lake Pupuke, close to the Auckland CBD, beaches, cinema, theatres, pubs, restaurants and shopping galore. Everything is literally on your doorstep.
The average high in Auckland in winter is 15C which is warmer than my summers where I grew up in the north of England! We get out on the lake all year round. (Wet suits available for the faint hearted!)
Kayaks and 2 mountain bikes are free to use. There is a lovely cycle track to Devonport. Supermarket only 800 metres and Takapuna centre 1000 metres which includes the central North Shore bus station.
Help yourself to breakfast each morning - cereal, tea, coffee, milk, sugar, bread and spreads. Please feel free to cook your own meals in the kitchen at any time to avoid the expense of eating out.
Our home is not the Ritz as it is an older style property, but the location is. Stay in a double bedroom that is very spacious and bright. You also have access to wi fi in case you need to work or study during your stay.
This room is ideal for business people, back packers or couples who are looking for a relaxing place to stay yet want to be close to the action and everything that is going on in Auckland.
My daughter and partner live at the house permanently and I give paddle board lessons on the lake so I am often in and out during the evening and weekends. They have a cat but he stays outside or in their room and does not have access to the main part of the house.
There may be other guests staying at the same time but as it is a large house you have plenty of space for relaxing on your own or mixing with our other guests during your stay.
For the less energetic relax in the lake front garden with it's sheltered and sunny seating area overlooking the lake. This is a perfect place to unwind after a busy day sight seeing or working in Auckland.
We are in arguably in the best street on the North Shore. Close to Takapuna with it's huge variety of restaurants, cafes and bars, lovely beach, cinema and 2 theatres. We are also close to the main North Shore hospital and a 10 minute bus ride will take you into Auckland City.
I can help with any questions about Auckland or other areas of NZ as I have travelled extensively since arriving here 18 years ago with 2 small children. There is no place we would rather live! I can also recommend a local shuttle service for transport to and from Auckland airport, please enquire for details.
We arrived late at night so Bev left the key under the mat for us. The house was organized and had separate fridge space and shelves for us to store groceries, and full access to the kitchen. The neighborhood is full of nice homes and the house sits right on the lake. We didn't use the kayaks but saw many people on the water during the day. The bus station was walking distance and we were able to walk around downtown Auckland one day. Bev chatted with us and shared some of her NZ experiences. It was a nice relaxing stay before taking our campervan on the road!
Spacious bedroom, and nice view from the room a good place to rest after a long journey, near restaurant and beach.
Unfortunately I didn't meet Bev, but when I turned up I was greeted by her very welcoming mother from the UK who swiftly brewed me a cup of tea. The house isn't a modern 5 star hotel but it is extremely comfortable and has everything you need. It is conveniently located to central Takapuna. Bev's mother and the other guests staying at the house were delightful and I only wish I had spent more time there.
I stayed five nights at Bev's beautiful lake house and I didn't want to leave. The location is spectacular. The house itself is old but clean and comfortable. The people who stay there are absolutely lovely. I felt I was visiting friends. The house has a fully equipped kitchen and there is a grocery store walking distance so it was a very nice break from eating out. The house is not near the center of Aukland but there are buses and certainly there is panty to do in the area.
Checkout the Saturday market and stock up on some fresh fruit and veg. There is also a nice beach and lots of cafes and shops in the village. And of course the lake - there are canoes available to use.
Thank you Bev for the great stay!
I so enjoyed my stay at Bevs BnB in Takapuna. A real opportunity to relax in a wonderful location. Bev, and her whole family, made me feel right at home, wnd trusted from day one. Ieven extended my stay. I WILL BE BACK! Thanks Bev.
The most important advantage of the place, is the fact that it is situated opposite a beautiful lake. I did not meet the host, but had no problem commuńicating with her, getting some practical information.
Great location, so peaceful and convenient. Sadly I only stayed for two nights and did not get a chance to fully enjoy my surroundings or even the city. If you are looking for a place to unwind after a long day visiting Auckland or just a spot to work while away (my case), this is just perfect and Bev is a great host. Thanks
Although we knew Bev's place is by a lake, it was still amazing suprise when we reached there. Bev is a such nice host, she brought us fish & chips and trained us to do the water sports...it was a great fun staying there! Thanks:)
What an amazing place to start your NZ journey from ! It was exactly what I wanted it to be, and more : peaceful and cosy, with a great host and awesome roomates !
Definitely on my wish list for my next trip !
Bev is a lovely host who runs a beautiful house. I really enjoyed my stay here, I'd definitely recommend anybody that want to stay in Auckland to come here and relax around the lake :-)
