Would you like to stay in a real old hause of 1800's ? Old Tuscany hause is located on the street that leed Greve in Chianti to Valdarno,on a magnific hill between grapes and olive trees just 3 km from the famous Greve's square. It's a perfect destination for anyone planning to visit either the beautiful " chianti classic" area or cities of great historic and artistic importance such as Florence, Siena and Arezzo. The hause was build araund 1800, restored in the year 2000. Completely furnished in real Tuscany style, it has a double bedroom and a single with bunkbeds, livingroom with satellite television, sleaping sofa and fireplace, kitchen, 2 bathrooms, private garden, parking space.
The fireplace works perfectly and give to the hause a very romantic atmosphere anyway if you are cold, during winter time, there is heating that you pay at consume, we have a gas counter that we check togheter at your arrival. Stay at my hause and you will taste the real Tuscany way of living!!!!

  • Simona's cottage was beautiful and cozy - the perfect Tuscan retreat. The kitchen was fully stocked with all cookware and with the cottage conveniently located a quick drive to Greve you have everything you need. Our favourite part was watching the sun set over the hills while sitting out enjoying a meal with local chianti.

  • We wanted to spend a week in Tuscany to share a special birthday - and what a fabulous place we found! The gorgeous location of the house in the Chianti hills made for views to remember from dawn to dusk. With a car the nearby cities of Florence, Sienna and Pisa are within easy driving distance and a venture further to Lucca made an extremely enjoyable day trip. We made full use of the kitchen cooking up meals sourced from ingredients at local farmers' markets and the well-stocked Coop supermarket in Greve. The weather was glorious and made driving in the hills a very special experience. Domenico greeted us warmly and with a very helpful tour of the house explaining how to use the water and gas systems. Thank you Simona for opening your house to us and to Domenico for being so close by should there have been any problems - of which there were none. A wonderful week's stay!

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Simona's house, and would certainly come back again if we have the chance. The house itself it great, especially the backyard and the gorgeous view of Tuscany. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed, and there was plenty of plates and silverware present. It was really nice to be able to cook after a week in other parts of Italy eating at restaurants every meal.

The town nearby is great, a lot of nice shops and restaurants. There are also plenty of nearby vineyards.

Check in and check out were smoothly. Simona was not able to meet us, so we met with her father in law, Domenico. Domenico was great to talk to (if you have some command of Italian), although I'm sure it would have been fine had I not known any. He gave us a few suggestions in the town and the surrounding vineyards.

The only negative was the hot water pressure. On the positive side, even though the pressure is low and you can't run more than one hot water source at once, there is a continuous water heater so you never run out. Again, only a minor nuisance. Note that we didn't contact Simona about this because we figured it was expected given the age of the house and didn't really care. But I figured I would mention it in case this is a real issue for anyone.

Thanks to Simona and Domenico for this great experience. We hope to come back soon!

  • Really lovely old stone house, just what our family were looking for to experience Tuscany. Great location near Greve in Chianti, what a memorable place. As far as the house, it was everything as described, loved having the grill in amongst the olives & vines. Simona & Dominico extremely helpful & patient! Definitely recommend.

  • Need to qualify my statements a bit by the fact it rained everyday we were there and it was quite cool and damp. The house seems to have been closed up for some time because it was damp and cold inside. It took a few hours to get the dampness and cold out once we got the supply of gas turned on. We called due to the lack of gas supply and Simona's father in law was there in 10 to 15 minutes to fix that problem. A very good response to our call.
If you are renting this house in the cold weather you need to take into account that heat is very expensive. We paid 185 euros (approx. $250 US) to heat for 6 days. We did not have heat the first day due to the gas supply. Also when it rains hard which it did on three days we had a strong sewer smell from the downstairs bathroom. This made us air the place out and then reheat. A safety issue exits upstairs between the bedrooms and the bathroom. To go from one to the other you need to cross and open stairwell. There is no way around it so for people with balance problems or small children this could be a problem.
On the positive side the house is in an ideal location. A short drive form Grave in Chianti and very nice little town with everything you need to live in the area. Good places to eat, grocery store, bakeries etc. and a very pleasant square. The house is in the middle of the Tuscany wine district with a lot of wineries to tour and taste wine. The views from the house are very beautiful as you see the Tuscan hills, grape vines and olive trees. With good weather it would be great to spend time in the back yard having meals and enjoying the scenery. You do need a car to stay here but you need that to enjoy the area anyway.

  • Thanks for a relaxing stay at your gorgeous home on the hills. We enjoyed watching the sunset at night, exploring the local towns & a few glasses of wine by your cosy fire! Let us know if you ever make it back to Australia Simona!

  • Where to start! The area is one of the most beautiful places on earth. There are tons of places to explore, little hill towns, great food, wine, olive oil. Firenze is 40 minutes away, so is Siena, San Gimignano and many other great places. The closest town, Greve, is only 5 minutes away and has everything you need: good restaurants, a full supermarket, ATMs, a nice plaza, a playground for the kids, etc. The house is great, the way houses used to be. Solid stone walls, great windows, an amazing garden with stunning views, a perfect patio, 2 full bathrooms and a gorgeous fireplace. Simona, Lorenzo and Domenico are the best hosts you can dream of. If you are staying in winter, consider that the gas is expensive and keeping the house warm will involve plenty of that.

  • We needed a holiday while we were on holidays so decided on a quiet retreat to Tuscany & were privileged to stay in this gorgeous Stonehouse. So rustic & full of charm, history & an amazing experience for us following 6 weeks of busy travelling. All previous reviews reflect our feelings, so quiet & peaceful, beautiful Sunrises & Sunsets, great position away from village & so nice to cook for ourselves in a kitchen that has everything! Domenico greeted us & with limited English explained the workings of the house. We enjoyed our 'Special Experience' in your house & Simona we thank you for sharing & allowing us to experience a little of the Tuscan Lifestyle. We hope to be back someday when we return from Italy. Australian couple.
