  • Madeline was an incredible host. We arrived late into the night and she happily met us at the end of the drive to help us navigate the massive farm and find our room. Her family and everyone on the property was incredibly genuine. We had a great time sharing stories over a delicious, home-cooked breakfast. We plan to return during the warm summer or fall months when the property is likely at its finest.

  • We only stayed two nights at Penmerryl Farm but enjoyed one of our best Air bnb experiences ever! Deanie and her family were so warm and welcoming and treated us like we had known each other for decades. During breakfast we ended up talking about life, politics and dreams for hours and it was so inspiring to hear their life story. The area it self is breathtaking - we walked around in the forrest for hours and inhaled as much fresh air as we could. The cabins are perfect, very clean and comfortable and then you get to see and pat a lot of horses and dogs. This place couldn't be better - do it! Thank you Deanie + family.

  • We really enjoyed staying on the ranch, despite the unexpectedly terrible weather. The room was welcomingly warm, with a delightful coffee cake and mints left out for us.
Breakfast was amazing. Especially those cheesy potatoes! But also the pancakes and fruit salad. We loved the sweet and well behaved dogs, especially my friend Sheila who was missing her own pup. And it was so great to get to say hello to the horses.
We only wish we could have stayed longer and the weather permitted us to take advantage of the pool.
Hope to make another visit someday!

  • This was our second stay at Penmerryl Farm and we will definitely be back. We are already planning our next visit. Deanie, Ken and Lydia are fabulous and fantastic hosts. I would highly recommend a visit to Penymerryl to escape the city for the weekend. We love the area -- Staunton has cute restaurants and there are great wineries all around. You will not be disappointed!

  • Where do I begin? I've stayed in a lot of Airbnb spaces and Penmerryl Farm is simply unmatched. The farm is beautiful, the area is incredible, and the rooms are clean and comfortable--but the true gem around here is Deanie herself. What a wonderful, sweet, warm, hospitable, comforting, charming and delightful woman. Her morning breakfasts are way, way over the top (she used to own/run a restaurant) and the conversations that follow are always entertaining and heartwarming. Her daughters and her husband, Ken (what an amazing guy) make it all the more enjoyable. If I could give 5 more stars I would.

  • I can't say enough about our experience at Penmerryl. The surroundings are like no other. There are beautiful trails that lead to the lake. You can jump into a canoe and relax while watching bald eagles and other beautiful birds. If you prefer to stay on land, there are plenty of places to stroll through on the property. I particularly enjoyed walking by the pastures and barns. Nothing like it! If you're looking for Heaven on Earth, this is it. The location is wonderful, but doesn't even compare to Deanie and Ken and their family. We were welcomed by Deanie and were immediately charmed by her spirit of joy. They are some of the lovliest people we have ever met and made us feel like family right from the start. We so enjoyed the conversations over coffee and Deanie's delicious breakfasts. We were heartbroken when we had to get in our car to leave. We plan to come back as soon as possible as Penmerryl Farm, for us, is the most beautiful and happiest of places.

  • My stay at the farm was absolutely perfect! My best friend and I arrived in the evening while on a freezing cold motorcycle trip up North. Madeline immediately met us with the most welcoming hospitality. Going above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and taken care of. Breakfast the next morning was so delicious and we got the chance to walk around her farm which is beautiful!! Highly recommend staying here if you're passing through! You won't be disappointed.

  • If you're into a laid-back, super-friendly atmosphere in GORGEOUS Virginia country, this is for you. Not only are Deanie, Ken and their daughter, Lydia, incredibly warm and inviting, (by the time you leave you feel like family!) but there's so much space... excellent walking trails through the woods, boats and trails around the lakes, gazebos to just chill out under and read a book... relaxing, gorgeous, and friendly. When we got to our room we had a plate of homemade cookies waiting for us! And the breakfast is spectacular...hello cheesey potatoes. yum.

Would definitely go back. If you're looking for a place as cozy as home but with land and space to breathe some fresh air, this is for you.

  • Our visit to Penmerryl was a quick one, only wish we could have stayed and enjoyed all the amenities offered. Deanie and Ken were wonderful hosts, the breakfast was delicious and the conversation was even better! Next year we will plan our route to allow more time at Penmerryl farms.

  • Tucked away off the main roadways, the farm is a beautiful place to stay. We were looking for a quiet and relaxing stop before moving onto DC on our east coast roadtrip and this was perfect.

Deanie was an amazing host! We got a tour of the property and saw some beautiful horses. Breakfast was cooked by her on the spot and it was fresh and filling. A must stay if you live nearby.

About
My husband, Ken, and I have raised our children here at Penmerryl and really enjoy sharing this wonderful place with others. We love to meet and host new people from all walks of life and all parts of the globe. I cook for and take care of my guests just like my family. I am originally from St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada and Ken is from London, England. We spent 7 years living on a boat and sailing before coming ashore to raise our family,
