Single Bed room in lovely home, walk to ferry, bus to all island towns, and more. Vineyard Haven near clay tennis courts, Vineyard Playhouse, Island theaters and more. Black Dog Harborside dining and other great restaurants and the Art Cliff diner within walking distance.
Perfect, reasonably priced room in great location near all that the Vineyard has to offer. Enjoy the Islands natural beauty or cultural amenities all nearby.
There is a great outside shower with towels, and pleasant sitting area in the yard to enjoy the evening air.
Access to all island towns done easily by bus or "bike and bus".
Public buses available to all island towns within walking distance from house.
I stayed for one week in October at Mary's house. I had a wonderful time there. Mary and her tenant were both very kind and helpful. The rooms were cozy and warm, very nicely decorated. I was the only guest at the time, and stayed in the little room, which was perfectly fine. I think the house has a lot of the typical Martha's Vineyard charme, and I would come back!
Mary's place was so convenient to the town of Vineyard Havens. The bus is a short walk that will take you anywhere on the island (some stops you have to transfer to another bus but very easily done)
I would stay again at Mary's as I felt very comfortable.
Enjoyed my stay at Mary's. I was there for a week and found everything as described. I was in the single bed room and would probably stay in a larger room next time. The single is good for a night or two. Location very convenient, easy access to town and public transit. Love using an outdoor shower.
Mary is a wonderful host and she has a delightful home. If you're young, active and mobile, this is the perfect place to stay on the Vineyard.
Terrible. Host never to be heard from or seen over the four days I was (website hidden) to MV around 3pm and Left my bags on the back porch to find food an a bathroom after calling airbnb and being told to give the "host" a couple of hours to respond. Around 6:30 i went back was let in by the very nice lady who lived in the basement but apparently had no information about who was supposed to be coming or going -as a single female traveling alone that was disconcerting. The house is left completely unlocked for people to come and go as they please -even more alarming. . Room was not clean: dirty rug, dead moths. not sure if the linens had been changed before my arrival.
Stayed anyway because I was exhausted and had nowhere else to go.
Next day Fruits flies In the room and figured out they made they're way up the stairs from the kitchen where the counter had pieces of watermelon and rinds all over the counter and a bowl with some moldy onions and the sink full of dishes. The nice lady from the basement must be used to this because I actually se her in the kitchen and she simply toasted something in the toaster and went back downstairs.
The outdoor shower was "dirty" : filled with lots of stuff probably things left behind by other guests. There is a huge difference between an environment that makes you feel like your at home and one where you feel like you're invading someone's personal space because the house is kept like a sty. Something no one especially paying guests should not see or experience.
I am sorry that this guest found her stay so unsettling. The Island is a
trusting place. Her room has a lock on the knob. Clean sheets and towels
were provided, although I was called off island and did not greet her. The
outside shower has toiletries and towels for her use. No one else has
complained of those as dirty and unpleasant. I am sorry for her discomfort
and hope her future journeys are more satisfying.
Mary is a welcoming host to her lovely home, which is conveniently just a few blocks to the center of Vineyard Haven. The room and amenities are simple. But for this price on Martha's Vineyard, you can't beat it. I'd stay here again. For those new to the island like I was, take note that Vineyard Haven is still a dry (website hidden)/wine can only be served at restaurants if you are also ordering food.
Mary was pleasant and her home was lovely. I slept in the small single bedroom which was a bit stuffy, but adequate. There were two other rooms upstairs as well, and they really were much more comfortable in size and space. I'd stay with Mary again, but would choose a bigger room. The outdoor shower was a treat!
Beautiful historic home very close to the ferry. I really enjoyed the peace and quiet and the beautiful outdoor shower.
I stayed almost two full weeks with Mary in her lovely home. I was most drawn to the idea of an outdoor shower and when I arrived, it definitely did not disappoint! The little cedar house was an absolute dream and the soft water that the house naturally had was a huge added bonus for my long hair! The miniature room I stayed in was quaint and sweet and the bed was surprisingly comfortable. The location of the house is excellent, only three blocks from everything you need including the excellent public transportation system. The house was slightly louder than expected which made sleeping in tricky. It was full of happy people, though, so the noises were joyful. Thank you so much Mary for your kind hospitality!
Mary's room was very clean and comfortable. She makes you feel right at home and I would definitely recommend her place to anyone seeking a place on the Vineyard. Two blocks to town and very conveniently located! Thanks again Mary!
