There are 3 of us who live here, two American guys and me (also from the US). We work full-time in different industries but share common interests in art, design and music. We are happy to send along suggestions for nearby bars, restaurants and shops, and am always available by email for those insider tips for making the most of your Beijing stay.
Gulou is a historical and hip area of Central Beijing with tons to see, eat, and shop. Our cool converted courtyard house is a rare design gem. We are under 15 minute walking distance to Drum & Bell Tower, Confucius Temple, Lama Temple, Nanluoguxiang and major subway lines.
- Public transport: 17 minute walk to Subway Line 2 (Gulou and Andingmen, 757m); 30 minute walk to Subway Line 5 (Beixinqiao, 1.4km); 5 minute walk to a dozen bus routes including 635 and 107 to Dongzhimen
- Parking: There is no parking available.
- Taxi is the most convenient way to the house. If you take the Airport Express to Sanyuanqiao or Dongzhimen, you will still have to take a taxi. On a metered fare, this will cost under 85RMB.
- I can coordinate a driver pickup at the airport for 250RMB paid in cash to the driver upon arrival. Please let me know in advance.
Please note: no smoking, no pets, no parties. We live in a neighborhood with a lot of senior citizens who are sensitive, and will call the police on any amount of noise.
Our host is very nice and welcoming. Most importantly her house is simply gorgeous! Will definitely come back next time
Living at Nat's was probably the best decision I have made during my trip at Beijing. This loft made me fall in love with BJ. The area it is located is honestly the best place to be in BJ. Endless shops to go to, restaurants to dine at. Really great bars, lake, museums and close distance to the subway. The loft is so beautiful and clean. Highly, highly recommend this place more than any hotels I stayed at during this trip. Nat and Terence are extremely helpful and kind. Everything was perfect .
Super recommended!!!! Nat is a fantastic host, responses always very fast - with lots of tips about how to travel and where to go. The apartment is amazing, it is located in the best hutong area (with nice little coffee shops, places to eat unique food, massage...). Everything was easy going with Natasia. She kept checking on me during the whole stay. I had a really nice time @ her home. Can't be better!
Nat is super friendly and helpful. Although the place is a bit hard to find as it's located in a hutong, the area is central and close to everything. The place itself is really cool- modern decor in a traditional house provides a nice contrast. They also have two super cute cats! Overall great stay and would def recommend to friends
Staying at Nat and Terry's house was a breeze and I'd highly recommend it. They are proactive hosts as well, always willing to provide tips and advice. Was great to enjoy a burger at a microbrewery with them too.
The neighbourhood is sensational and I would set aside a a whole day to explore.
It can take a bit of timetable get to the subway stations . But I personally found the walks really interesting and a great way to start the day.
This apartment is just as advertised - very comfortable and in a terrific neighborhood in Old Beijing near the Bell Tower. (The hutong lifestyle is threatened in all directions by highrise development, so check it out while it's still there.)
Nat is very thorough with a list of close-by attractions and detailed directions on how to get to the apartment. Even so, the cab driver from the train station called for more info, mainly to yell at her, Beijing cab drivers being a notoriously cranky bunch. (Video available upon request.)
2 big bathrooms + spacious kitchen (you can cook if you want to) + a nice combination of open and private space + cordial roommates = a big thumbs up.
Wow! What a super place to stay and a great host! A lovely space in an ideal location in the middle of the Beijing Hutongs. Natasia went over and above her duties as a host. Highly recommended, 5 stars.

About the Host, Nat
I'm Natasia and I've made "Beijing's Brooklyn" home for the last four years. We (4 Americans and 2 felines in the house) have hosted dozens of people around the world at our Beijing abode, and have made great friends along the way. We enjoy sharing our unique house and neighborhood to Beijing travelers. Although my roommates and I work a lot, we try to make your stay memorable.
