We had a wonderful stay at Shabby Chic. We were in Room 1, which was lovely, comfortable, quiet. We did, however, have to share a bathroom, which was so-so, at best. The bathroom could've been cleaner and wasn't always vacant but, other than that, we couldn't be happier. The neighborhood is terrific and well located. The breakfasts were filling and had something for everyone. As a previous reviewer stated, this BnB is a bit more shabby than chic, but charming nonetheless.
I sent the inquiry to Leslie and Joe only two weeks before the date we stay, it was very fast and makes me feel relieve that Leslie contact me just next day. She spent not too much time to ask me all the plan of travel and gave some useful information which let me get there as soon as possible. The location of the house is very awesome, it is a historic community without any noise. Due to it is my first time to live the traditional America house, I feel very fresh and curious. There are clean bedroom, sheets, restroom and living room, in addition, I enjoy the breakfast every morning which prepare by them. Leslie and Joe gave me a great memory in DC, and I am going to recommend such comfortable place to other friends who want visit DC. I won't be hesitate to choose their house when I come there again.
Beautiful neighborhood! Great hosts! Their pets are really friendly! Thanks Joe and Leslie for having us!
Shabby Chic BnB was a fantastic place full of elegant antique furniture. Fruits and breads, cereals, all of which were very fresh and delicious, were offered every morning. Joe, the host, was very kind and caring. He even helped us to fix our car on the day we left. I would strongly recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience the old Victorian life in Washington DC.
Shabby Chic BnB is in a great neighborhood. The house itself is massive and has "wonderful bones." Joe and Leslie are clearly renovating it step by step. Potential guests should note that ShabbyChic's renovations are very much a work in progress. (It's currently somewhat shabbier than chic.) The wrap-around porch nonetheless proved to be an especially great place to convene in between jaunts around town. Potential guests who enjoy chatting a lot with BnB hosts might be forewarned that neither owner seemed inclined to engage in much conversation.
My family members stayed in rooms #1, 2 and 4 over the course of our visit. Of these, #1 was the most comfortable for us. Situated on the front corner of the lot, it was light and airy and the mattress was pleasingly firmer than the others. For visitors who don't mind sharing a bathroom - #4 has an en suite - we would recommend room #1. The water pressure for the shower in the shared bathroom was excellent.
This is one of the best places I ever stay. Great location, short walk to subway station, then you can easily get into any places in DC. Awesome neighbourhood, within 5 mins walk, you can find many nice restaurants. You can even rent a capital red bike near the house, very convenient. Check in/out was easy, Joe is very nice!!! The house is exactly as it's showed on airbnb.
We chose Joe and Leslie's home due to its proximity to the home of someone we were visiting, and we were very satisfied with our experience there. The neighborhood is residential, and this house is big and comfortable with a large porch and sitting room for use by guests. It is within walking distance of the national zoo and very close to Rock Creek Park. Our room was large with a king-sized bed and four large windows - very bright and pleasant in the morning (but with blinds and curtains). The shared bathroom was no problem even though all rooms were occupied. An additional half bath and a sink in the hallway help with demands for toothbrushing space. Breakfast was continental style with cereals, nuts, baked goods, yogurt. I was a little disappointed with the fruit selection on the first morning (apples and bananas), but on our second and third days fresh berries appeared - a real treat! Joe was very helpful and always available to us. There is a friendly dog and two very cool-looking cats, so it helps if you are an animal lover, but the pets were not intrusive. We will definitely plan to stay here again.
Cozy place, quiet neighborhood, and really comfortable bed!
It was an amazing esperience in Washington.we reallly loved this ancient house.our favorite room was the numer 1 it's really pretty ...white colour confortabile bed a lot of natural light, the bath is outside so if you want a private bath room i suggest the number 4.good breakfast with fresh mango and sweet.two cast and one dog...font miss this place if you want feel at home and you love animals
It was a pleasure to stay in Leslie and Joe's home. At the end of my sightseeing day I knew I had a comfortable and homey room to come back to. I would recommend staying here when visiting Washington.
Many thanks Joe and Leslie.
