AIRPORTS: Columbia Heights Metro, our closest station, is only 5 blocks away and is on the line that serves Reagan National Airport. The same line serves L'Enfant Plaza Station where you can get the 5A Express Bus to & from Dulles International Airport. Baltimore-Washington International Airport can be reached easily from our Metro Station as well; just take the Yellow Line a few stops to Greenbelt and connect to the express B30 bus for a quick trip to BWI.

ABOUT OUR BREAKFASTS
Each morning -- 7:00 to 10:00 weekdays, 8:00 to 11:00 weekends -- we offer a cold buffet with a variety of items with an emphasis on healthy choices, carefully selected. In addition to bagels, croissants and muffins from our local bakery, homemade preserves and jams from our own fruit trees are a highlight. There's a good selection of cereals (some gluten-free), including the BEST ever pumpkin seed granola. For those looking for a high protein, low carb alternative, there is rich, creamy Greek yogurt that is delicious with walnuts and almonds and a touch of honey. Our organic milk is delivered to us from South Mountain Creamery, our local dairy. A variety of fresh-cut fruit rounds out the selection. Of course, we have orange juice, good coffee and a nice variety of teas. Bon Appetit!
Besides a comfortable bedroom, guests are welcome to enjoy the main floor double parlor, the spacious old-fashioned porch and the sunny dining room.
Interaction with Guests
We respect the privacy of our guests. Leslie and Joe both have full-time careers and, while we try to be available to help with guests' needs and answer questions, we stay busy and out of the way.
Mt. Pleasant is a quiet, tree lined neighborhood nestled alongside Rock Creek Park and the National Zoological Park, about three kilometers (2 miles) due north of the White House and city center. One of Washington's first streetcar suburbs, Mt. Pleasant was developed from a small 19th century village just outside the old city. Most of the homes, apartments, and storefronts were built in the early 20th century and the neighborhood has preserved that historic "village in the city" flavor.
Today the neighborhood is an exciting but cohesive urban area that is home to a wide range of people from all walks of life and from many different parts of the world. It's four block long shopping area is a model for small, independent merchants.
There’s no lack of places to grab a cup of coffee. Heller’s Bakery has been around since 1928. Dos Gringos, a vegetarian coffeehouse, and Flying Fish gourmet grocery are more recent additions to the neighborhood. Many restaurants cater to Central and South American cliental; Don Juan and Haydee’s are two of the more popular. We also like Corado’s, a Guatemalan restaurant. The Raven Grill, which has been around since the 1930s, Marx Cafe and Tonic are neighborhood hangouts with good food at reasonable prices. On Saturdays, eight months a year, an organic farmer's market is open on the plaza one block from our house.
We have more than 8 different bus lines and 2 subway stations that serve our location. The closest Metro station is Columbia Heights, only 5 blocks or a 10-minute walk away. Almost all DC attractions are accessible in about 30 minutes by public transportation from our neighborhood. Uber and UberX car service is usually available in less than ten minutes at our location and offers a cheap and easy way to get around. Also, you can learn about and sign up for the Capitol Bikeshare bicycle rental station one block away by visiting (website hidden)

Our stay at Leslie & Joe's BnB was nothing less than delightful! They were wonderful hosts, immediately welcoming us and making us feel well taken care of, providing us with everything we could possibly need from water to maps to towels to shower toiletries, etc. The BnB is in a really convenient, safe location, easily accessible to downtown attractions via public transit or walking. We were in awe of the charm of the BnB-- Leslie & Joe have thoughtfully furnished and decorated the place over the years to make it feel exceptionally cozy and inviting. The breakfast is fantastic and very generous; it was wonderful to wake up to classical music, fresh berries, and hot coffee. The shared bathroom situation is not an inconvenience at all, and fellow guests were all friendly and eager to share sightseeing tips. Can't recommend this place enough!!!
What a wonderful place! Leslie and Joe made us feel extremely welcomed, and they have sweet and friendly animals that made the BnB feel all the more homey. The breakfast spread was great, the location was convenient (and close to the very cute coffeeshop, The Flying Fish), and the lodgings were clean and comfortable. Thanks Leslie and Joe!
Joe and Leslie were excellent hosts. The room and bath were clean with all of the amenities. The location was in a beautiful neighborhood with restaurants close by and a reasonable walk to the Metro stop. Breakfast was delightful with a variety of options.
We have stayed with Joe and Leslie four different times and always have a good experience. Theirs is a very comfortable home in a convenient location. We always enjoy the breakfast and meeting interesting guests.
We had a great experience. The house was very warm and cozy, the breakfast spread was as described, and the bed was quite comfy. The bathrooms were kept clean and warm. The downstairs powder room came in very handy, especially in the morning. The walk to the bus stop was very short (2 blocks), although the metro stop was further away. I really appreciated that there was hot water/tea and drinking water available at all hours of the day, and there was a lot of seating area around the house. I also appreciated that Leslie and Joe were flexible with allowing us to leave our luggage in the house after check-out. There was a lot of privacy, even with other guests just down the hall. Overall, a great experience!
Second stay at Mt Pleasant. Hosts very welcoming and helpful. The village is an easy walk with restaurants and metro. Good healthy breakfast fare provided and the common area is large.

Leslie & Joe are 50-something professionals and long time DC residents. Joe's an architect and Leslie is a government relations consultant. We like to garden and cook and hike, and since we aquired this big old house, we spend all our spare time trying to fix it up.
