Matt was super welcoming, and made the check in very simple. He gave us tips on where to swim in the river, talked to us about the ranch history, and gave good suggestions on where to find breakfast. He made us feel very welcome. The animals from Chevas the sweetheart ranch dog to the fabulous alpacas made the ranch a truly fantastic experience. The log cabin and the ranch are both absolutely beautiful and exactly as described in the listing. It couldn't have been a better air bnb experience.
Our host Matt was very accommodating in terms of arranging arrival and key exchange, and gave us great suggestions for what to do in the area. The unit had 2 beds in an upstairs loft, and the ceilings are very high. The walls are all wood and the cabin is just up the bank from the river.
Spectacular! If you are an urban dweller looking for easy access to pristine wilderness, the Ranch and surrounding areas are a dream come true. The cabin was both sophisticated and rustic, nicely outfitted with a comfy couch and beds, and a flat-screen TV. New and lovely bathroom with a large glass shower. As nice as the provisions were, the scenery stole the show. You will play peek-a-boo with both Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams as you wind your way up from Hood River. The ranch is set on 13 acres abutting the wilderness and very close to the White Salmon River. At night, you can sit by the fire pit and see more stars than you'd ever thought imaginable. A mile or so South on Hwy 141 you'll find a boat launch that leads to a well-maintained and accessible trail along the River - I liked it so much that I went twice. Matt & Micki were wonderful, and took the time to let me interact with all of the animals, including wrangling my favorite alpaca, Cookie, for a photo op. As soon as I arrived, I realized that I needed to come back for a longer visit - so much to see and explore in the area! Don't hesitate to book this one. Thanks Matt and Micki (and Cookie and Chevas and Katniss and Fuzzball) for a truly fabulous visit!
Micki and Matt were wonderful hosts! They were very accommodating of our late arrival time and made us feel welcome. The house and land are beautiful, and I especially loved interacting with the alpacas. I only wish we had more time to enjoy it all!
Amazing place to stay. Clean and nice. Host was one of the most hospitable I've ever had.
Super clean and neat accommodation. Great shower! Very easy to find. High quality glassware, etc. and counter height refrigerator held all our supplies. Friendly animals and fun, relaxed atmosphere. Host had great travel tips! We really enjoyed out stay!
This place really is beautiful and peaceful. We celebrated our 25th anniversary. Unlike a lot of hotels these days that boast of a hot tub and when you get there they are broken, The Steelhead Ranch had a new easy to use Hot tub. The hosts were available when we needed help for anything. Someone nearby gifted us with a delicious wine made in the neighborhood. There are plenty of wonderful things to do in the area if you like outdoors: hiking, rafting, biking etc. We had a delicious meal in Hood River nearby also.
