Picture yourselves at Happy Hound Cottage 20 feet from our vineyard, in perfect privacy with a stunning view of Sugarloaf Mountain. Clean, contemporary space with fireplace, sliding doors to patio & vineyard. Walk to 14 wineries, bike to State park. Relaxing, fun, beautiful, sweet, romantic and memorable.
Happy Hound Cottage is named for my dog, Tahoe—who will happily greet you on arrival and possibly say good night and/or good morning (or not, if you otherwise prefer). HHC is in the heart of Sonoma County wine country (Kenwood), midway between the town of Sonoma and the city of Santa Rosa. Our central location is convenient for local excursions as well as day trips inland and to the coast.
I belong to several Sonoma Valley wine clubs and would be happy to extend guest passes to you. In addition to the many, many wineries and tasting rooms in Sonoma Valley, there are at least 12 within a short walking distance of HHC. Also, I can recommend many restaurants, markets, shopping opportunities and recreational activities.
HHC is situated at the northeast portion of our two-acre property and is essentially surrounded by vineyards. It is a newly constructed, contemporary and quiet, detached studio cottage—completely out of sight from my house and all surrounding homes. It has a gas fireplace for warmth and ambiance and a ceiling fan for comfort during the hotter weather.
HHC has a kitchen, a five-burner gas range, under counter refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave. The HDTV and DVD are viewable from anywhere in the cottage, as well as Wi-Fi service. Both the sleeping and seating areas look through an expansive sliding glass door, onto a private patio, my Merlot vineyard (steps away) and Sugarloaf Mountain (prominently in view). There is a gas-to-charcoal Weber grill just off the patio,
Enjoy our complimentary “welcome” wine for your first night.
The two-acre property includes a one acre (Merlot) vineyard, our house, a detached garage and HHC. A gazebo is nestled in the front garden with views to Hood Mountain and Sugarloaf Mountain (please enjoy!). There is a “you cannot miss it” heritage Valley Oak in our front yard and a majestic Walnut tree at the back edge of the vineyard.
Raised-beds, organic vegetable and flower gardens are within limited eye shot of the cottage patio (please feel free to wander over and look). Enjoy a stroll through the vineyard, especially fun during bud break in spring, and color change (veraison) and ripening in summer and harvest in fall. Your stroll can continue through surrounding vineyards and through one of the largest Lavender farms in the county.
Sorry, but absolutely no smoking on the property. Thank you in advance for understanding.

Runs up and
I ask for no illegal activity or smoking on the property. I value quiet and basic respect.
Thank you in advance for understanding and abiding by my requests.
Had a great time in the cottage, very private and of course the beautiful view onto the vineyard! Loved it.
What an awesome stay! The Cottage was exactly as advertised. Very clean with nice modern touches. Their vineyard is literally steps from your door. The location is very convenient, minutes away from everything you would want and need for your stay in the Sonoma Valley. We hope to be back soon!
We would like to thank Carolyn for a wonderful stay at Happy Hound Vineyard Cottage. Although we never did get the opportunity to meet Carolyn in person, we were in contact with her on quite a few occasions. She answered all our questions promptly. The cottage was exactly as the pictures present...very clean with a modern decor. Such a quaint place to stay while visiting the Sonoma area. The kitchen is fully stocked and we enjoyed using the BBQ for a few meals also. It was so nice to be able to relax with a glass of wine, from one of the many wineries we visited on our stay, while sitting outside overlooking the vineyard....such a beautiful setting. The only issue we had was with the internet as it was intermittent at times. Carolyn was always prompt with rebooting for us. We would definitely love to come back again some day for another visit!
HHC was everything we wanted and more! Carolyn is such a gracious host, offering more amenities than we could even think of wanting. Not to mention the space itself and the views are both absolutely beautiful. The cottage is a very central location for basically any wine regions you'd like to visit, and is within walking distance or a very short drive to many many more. We didn't get a chance to meet Carolyn during our stay, but felt welcome and comfortable the entire time. Wish we could've stayed longer (or forever...). I highly recommend HHC for your trip to wine country!

Our stay at Happy Hound was a wonderful one! It is super cozy and cute and conveniently located near several wineries and great restaurants.
Where to begin! This was my first experience using Airbnb and it did not disappoint! My husband and I were looking for a romantic spot to celebrate the first leg of our honeymoon and Happy Hound Cottage was absolutely perfect! From the beginning, Carolyn was responsive and very helpful with questions and suggestions even setting up a private tour for us. Every winery she suggested was better than the next! The cottage itself was beautifully appointed and very clean when we arrived. Kenwood was the perfect home base for exploring all of Sonoma County. Carolyn even did a couple extras to make our honeymoon experience perfect. You will not be disappointed staying here!
As for what to do, I would suggest (as Carolyn did) private cellar tours at B. Wise and Hamel. Also the food and wine pairing at St Francis is one of the best experiences we've ever had. If you have time, head into Healdsburg to spend the day and take the Wine Country Walking Tour with Harold. Also, Olive and Vine is an awesome place to eat.
Thanks Carolyn for being an amazing host!

This place is a definite recommend to anyone staying in Sonoma wine country! A lovely little, modern studio with beautiful views. Everything was as described, with all basic amenities provided for (in the kitchen also). This is a fantastic location, with great access to Sonoma itself, as well as the vineyards in the surrounding areas. If you fancy a break from driving, the place is within walking distance from 5+ vineyards and tasting rooms in Kenwood. Carolyn is a very knowledgeable and friendly host, who is very accommodating. Will certainly consider returning next visit to Sonoma wine country.
After nearly two decades of living in the East Bay (Oakland), I realized a long held passion for the beauty, scale and easy pace of Sonoma Valley by moving to Kenwood.
Happy Hound Cottage is named for my sweet lab/terrier mix, Tahoe.
I was born and raised in Southern California near Pasadena. I have degrees in Theology and Environmental Psychology and work at MIG, Inc. (planning, design and communications) as a Principal and Chief Operating Officer. While I commute from Berkeley on a near regular basis, I find it well worth the trip, enjoying the beauty of the valley and views of horses, cows, sheep, chickens, oak groves and vineyards. I love each season: winter with its striking dark barks and green hills; spring as the grape buds break; summer when the vines are so vital; and fall as the landscape turns so colorful and—of course—harvest!
I enjoy fresh, local food and sharing good wine. I love visiting with my warm and kind friends, walking the vineyard and tending to the gardens (vegetables and flowers). I also enjoy sharing our love of Sonoma Valley with others.
I belong to several wine clubs and would be happy to extend guest passes to you, as well as provide suggestions to the many other Valley wineries, tasting rooms, restaurants, markets, shopping opportunities and recreational activities.
I'll be sure to help make your stay at HHC one you'll want to experience over and over. Cheers!
