The Space

Complete house, charming, uncomplicated, in a huge condominium with natural woods, golf, tennis, horses, pool, bars and restaurants; in a residential area with good shops, international banks, restaurants of various styles and supermarkets, approx. 30/40 minutes from downtown. There is good public transport. I am a great hostess, uncomplicated, happy and ready to make things right! I like music, from classical to rock, and I prefer rock. I like to dance, cinema and cooking. The house, recently renovated, has a modern style with an elegant touch of ethnic Africa; each room has large doors that give onto the garden, the bathrooms are modern, the kitchen is complete with a large door and window to the other gardens; the dining room and comfortable living room give onto the garden too. Our difference is in the location between town and country, and half an hour by car from the beach! (email hidden)-in domestic help, and the easy-going style of life I lead.

  • Marta gave us a great welcome on our first night in Italy. Her warm personality and kindness ensured that we felt very much at home in her house. Marta was also very flexible in the time of our arrival, and provided us with a great restaurant recommendation. All in all, a very pleasant stay!

  • Marta truly went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. She is very quick to respond to any questions, and while we were at her place she even drove us to the grocery store and train station. I caught a cold and she offered medicine and extra blankets. She is a wonderfully caring woman!

The apartment is quite far from Rome's city center. At least an hour with transfers between train/bus/metro. There is not much to do near the apartment, the closest restaurant is about 20 minutes walk away. There was wifi in the living room but not the bedroom. For those with allergies, be warned there was some mold in the bedroom.

Overall the apartment is a good option for people on a tight budget who don't mind a slightly arduous journey to the city center. Marta is a wonderful host!

    Response from Marta Schneider:

This guest + boyfriend chose the house exactly not to do anything, to get a break after a lot of travelling, before moving to a hostel in historic Rome a few days later to explore it.There are plenty of things to do around the house; it's an upper market gated condominium, with semi-olympic swimming-pool, restaurants and bars, pizzeria, golf, horseback riding, plenty of safe areas to jog, run, walk. All activities open for guests. And above all, relax. If you're not interested in any of those things, and want historic Rome, don't stay here. She's the first guest to have problems with wifi. They stayed in my personal bed-room and it's also my study. I use wifi 24/24It's not as hard to get to the house as she claims; I gave her FULL instructions; she knew about the buses and trains; maybe she was just too tired. They stayed in the room the whole time and never mentioned the mold on the walls. I left the room completely tidy and ready for them then I was away for a couple of weeks. It rained a lot and some patches of mold did appear. But she never told me about it. It is a very simple thing to be removed. Again, nobody complained about it before her because there had never been any mold before.

  • Marta is a great hostess as she said! Welcomed us with a nice cup of tea and drew us a map of sites to go in Rome! She was always willing to talk about everything and was always there to help! I love her personality! And I love her beautiful and artistic place! The room had everything we need plus an independent bathroom and even a small yard! It took an hour by public transportation from her home to sites but it was well connected so you won't need to walk that much at all :)

  • We had a lovely time staying with Marta and her family for three nights in October. On our way to Marta's house from Roma Termini station we managed to get ourselves lost! Marta was constantly in touch telling us where to go and helping us as much as she could. She then picked us up from the train station when we finally found our way! She was a great help and we couldn't have done it without her. She then made us lots of cups of tea and some pasta when we got in! Such a lovely, interesting lady. We could have sat and chatted to her for hours! Marta's house is beautiful and it was so nice to stay in a gorgeous family home after weeks of traveling and staying in hostels!! Thank you so much for having us Marta, it really was such a pleasure to meet you.

  • It has been such a pleasure sleeping at Marta's house during my journey in Rome. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the quiet block, the sweetness and kindness of the hostess Marta, who were moreover very helpful with me. And the two dogs are so quiet too.

I highly recommand this place for people who don't have as a priority staying in the very center of Rome to sleep and consider that meeting adorable people is part of the trip.

For those who will choose this place : enjoy ! :)

  • Marta, Nick and her staff made our stay in Rome truly pleasant! Marta took the time to give us all the appropriate details on public transport to get to Rome with ease. Not only that, but she followed up with us on various occasions during our transit to her home to make sure we arrived ok. Also, a big bonus were her two dogs, Lilo y Bidu...very gentle and loving dogs. The house was located in a gated community with a beautiful park right in front of the house. We had our own room and bathroom with clean linens and towels. WIFI worked great from the room. I would not hesitate to recommend Marta, her home, and all they have to offer.

  • It was wonderful to cross paths with Marta, she was a welcoming host with positive energy. She picked us up from the main train station and dropped us off at the metro which was quite helpful. The commute too and from the center of Rome was lengthy (45 mins with a bus and train transfer) but her place is as advertised. Clean and comfortable rooms with access to a beautiful garden from the bedroom.

She has two friendly dogs that kept to themselves. My husband is highly allergic to dogs but the floors were tiled and there wasn't much presence of the dogs within the room itself so he was ok for the 2 nights we stayed. One was injured when we were there we wish him a speedy recovery!

Thanks for hosting us Marta, we will forever remember you as we continue on our journey.
