Upper Roxborough is quiet and safe, and easily accessible with a car to City Center, Chestnut Hill, Mt Airy, Germantown and Manayunk neighborhoods. Guests have also enjoyed day trips to Lancaster for a unique country-living experience and Amish delights.
A direct public transit bus can take you into Center City in 45 minutes, or if you have a car, you can park and ride via 3 commuter-rail lines (5 minutes drive from our home) that take you downtown in about 25 minutes. Or you can drive in for about 25 minutes. You can order a taxi with 215-AIRPORT, for airport connections or any taxi needs: expect to pay around $60-63+ tip for a one-way journey in a sedan.
Milena and Richard were friendly and helpful hosts, their children were very nice and even Jasper the dog seemed pleased to see us each time we returned to their home.
Milena recommended the perfect bus route into the city and we spent a very interesting day seeing the sights. The huge snowfall during our last week was dealt with quickly by the city and so it didn't disrupt our stay.
Such a nice stay! Milena and Richard were very welcoming! Breakfast was delicious, and they gave us great suggestions for what to do in the area. Thank you!
This was our first experience with airbnb and it was a good one. The home is beautiful. Richard, Milena and their family were gracious hosts.
It was really a wonderful stay at Milena and Richard Davidova´s house
Richard and Milena are great hosts
During the reservation they kindly asked what we would like for breakfast, so Milena prepared it in the morning as soon as we went down
I can't describe how wonderful the house is
Our room was very confortable, nice, clean and with a private bathroom
During breakfast, Milena sat with us and we could meet her
She is a great host
She gave us some information about the best places for shopping and the most interesting places to visit
I highly recommend this place to everyone
We love it
Thank you very much
Milena and Richard were excellent hosts! Milena was extremely gracious and welcoming, and gave helpful suggestions for local eats. The room was lovely, with a very convenient private bathroom attached. And breakfast was amazing! The home-cooked bread and scones were mouthwatering. If you are staying several days and plan to see different neighborhoods, the location is central to many things and a great "base of operations." Highly recommended!
My friend and me really enjoyed our time staying at Milena's and Richard's farmhouse. Our room was clean and neat. Both are very friendly and help us with everything. We got good advices to spend our time there and to experience Philadelphia. Furthermore, the breakfast was really tasty. We recommend this accomodation for your trip.
Milena and Richard were great hosts! They really made us feel at home. Milena made an incredible breakfast with eggs, ginger peach cake, and yummy coffee and we dined with the whole family...great home away from home :)
We will definitely be back!
Milena and Richard are excellent hosts. They welcomed us into their home like we were old friends and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Milena provides a wonderful breakfast each morning with freshly baked treats. The house is charming and spacious and in a great location for exploring both the city and the neighborhoods surrounding Philadelphia. Milena and Richard are very familiar with the area and provided great suggestions for restaurants, cafes, museums, and activities. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely return!
Melinda, Richard and their two daughters couldnt have been lovelier. The house is beautiful and the room perfect for a couple. Melinda was incredible attentive going as far as keeping filtered water in our room and she made a lovely breakfast with home baked bread. Sweet, interesting and down to earth people is all I can say. Wouldnt hesitate to stay with them again. Location is only 20 min by car from the center and 5 minutes from lovely Chestnut Hill and lovely park for hiking and jogging. Hard to think of a reason why someone would regret staying with them.
A real treasure within Philadelphia's city limits. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Milena and Richard's wonderful old farmhouse. We already feel like they are family and will return again if we ever come through Philadelphia. They were the highlight of our trip. Every morning we were greeted with fresh bread or muffins and breakfast with coffee, given advice on interesting things to see and do (especially the fabulous Magic Gardens) or places to eat, and on occasion shared a glass of wine when we happened to be there at the same time. Since both Richard and Milena are world travelers, the conversation was as refreshing as the accommodations, and we enjoyed sharing our experiences abroad. If you do not have a car or want to avoid using one, the house is conveniently located between three different train stations/lines (Chestnut Hill West, Chestnut Hill East, and Ivey Ridge on the Manayunk/Norriston line) that go directly into Center City stations, meaning if you know the schedules you would not have to wait long for a train. I cannot recommend their place highly enough; the only reason I hesitate is because I am afraid the next time we come through they will already be booked!
