About this listing
Stay in our comfortable home just 2 blocks to BART (the San Francisco subway system), in quaint Glen Park. It's a village type neighborhood with restaurants, cafes, an upscale grocery store (Canyon Market) and a beautiful natural park with trails called Glen Canyon Park. Downtown is only a 15 min BART ride away. Our home is a 1908 Victorian cottage with vintage charm yet modern kitchen and bath. The room is small but comfortable with stylish furnishings, including a desk. down comforter and pillows and a foam topper for a relaxing nights sleep. Just steps to the (shared) bathroom. You'll have your own linens and are welcomed to use our shampoo/conditioner. We have 2 dogs so if you are allergic or don't like dogs, this wouldn't be the best place for you. They tend to bark when we come home but settle down pretty quickly. You're welcomed to use the kitchen for light use ( not really for cooking) and enjoy our walk out yard-from the kitchen. We respect your privacy and have our own room and office upstairs.
Internet connection with wifi. There's no TV in the room but the wifi will connect you to online entertainment or you can use our netflix. The house has an open floor plan, fully detached from the neighbors so there are windows on all 4 sides offering light and quiet.
Easy street parking with restrictions. Street cleaning on alternate weeks, 2 and 4 hour limits on alternate sides Monday-Friday. The 44 bus is at the corner that takes you across town and to Golden Gate Park, the J Church streetcar is 2 blocks and goes downtown. It's scenic and fun (goes right next to Dolores Park) but takes a lot longer to get downtown than BART. If driving and you need to go to Silicon Valley or the east bay the 280 freeway is 2 blocks away.
1 Bart to to 24th St in The Mission
3 stops to the Civic Center and 4 stops to downtown
Note: The street view is not our street. Our's has very charming Victorian cottages.
If walking from BART up Bosworth St, there's a hill to walk 1/2 way up the block and about 28 stairs to the front door. I don't find it a problem but 1 guest mentioned the hill so thought I'd include it in case there may be mobility issues for anyone.
Interaction with Guests
Someone will meet you (either me or my husband Don depending on our schedules) so we can show you around and give you the key.
We're available during your stay but sensitive to your need for space if desired and have our own room and office upstairs.
I love the small town feel and charm of our little downtown area. I love my neighbors. I love the ease of transportation both public (BART- the train system, buses & streetcars and freeway access going both north and south. I love the 70 acre natural park called Glen Canyon Park, I love the Friday, Saturday and Sunday music at our local independent bookstore called Bird & Beckett I love our bright modern library and I love our independent high quality grocery store and the restaurants and cafés.
Other Things to Note
There is a window in the room but due to the age and many coats of paint, the window doesn't open. We have a fan in the room but it rarely gets hot in San Francisco so it's not an issue as far as temperature. If you like an open window as a preference then this room may not be for you.
*Please open the window after showering as there is no fan in the bathroom and clean up after yourself as a courtesy to others.
*PLEASE CARRY YOUR BAG(s) UP THE LAST SET OF (wood) STAIRS. We just had them replaced from previous damage so we're doing our best to protect them.
*Use the black metal " coat tree" in the corner at the end of the bed or the hooks on the door for wet towels-please don't leave on the furniture or the floor. You may also leave in the bathroom if you'd like.
*California is experiencing a SERIOUS DROUGHT. Please only take ONE shower a day. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Most of all enjoy your stay!
