This a very nice and spacious apartment, located in the spectacular old city of Matera, knows as the Sassi. Luigi is a very kind and helpful host.
Luigi has been a very friendly and caring host! We felt wonderful in the apartment, and liked it a lot. In fact it has become a home for us very fast! Everything functions in an efficient and beautiful simple way. The cats are sweet and make the place even more cosy. The view from the balcony is stunning! The bed is not perfect, maybe a little too hard for our backs, - but that has a lot to do with how one is used to have things. It was absolutely silent in the nights and we enjoyed that very much! It is a charming place, with an aura, with charisma, and we would definitely love to come back!
What a beautiful apartment! My boyfriend and I have just got back from 5 days in Matera and it was perfect - it's a place made of magic, and Luigi's home certainly added to it. The cats are hilarious, it was like a home from home.
Thank you for your hospitality, it was such a pleasure to stay.
The apartment was great and Luigi the perfect host. We stayed in winter and the heating was fine. The weather is Matera was not too cold and the whole town was well worth the visit. Just follow Luigi's suggestion and lose yourself in the streets.
A friend and I stayed at Luigi's beautiful loft, thinking that 2 nights would be plenty of time to appreciate Matera's rock-cut churches. How wrong were we!? Matera is a beautiful town to explore on foot-- getting lost is a pleasure here-- and Luigi's loft is right in the thick of things. He is very cordial and welcoming, while respecting the privacy of his visitors. And his cats! Oh, the cats are wonderful. What can be lovelier than watching the sunset over the Sassi with kitties battling for your attention? The loft is very comfortable, although the stairs to the lofted bedroom are steep. Be mindful. The kitchen is well-appointed, and we used it every night. During the day, we feasted on wonderful charcuterie platters at Arturo and pasta dishes at trattorie around the S. Francesco area. I have a pretty tight budget (grad student), and I found the area very affordable. I highly recommend a guided tour of the Murgia, where the painted Byzantine churches are some of the best-preserve rock-cut monuments in Italy. The guides and custodians of Matera's cultural heritage were accommodating and knowledgeable. I'll definitely return to Luigi's loft!
What a wonderful time we had in a dreamlike place! Matera is one of the coolest places I have ever been, and Luigi and Stefania were great help, lots of emails sent back and forth before we arrived, and Luigi met us at the parking lot (we were 30 minutes late!) and carried my bag up the hill (and countless steps) to the apartment over their house. The apartment was cosy and perfect, everything worked as described. The three cats came "knocking" on the door and visited everyday! We would love to return some day! Thanks so much!!!

Luigi and Stefania were wonderful hosts. They were flexible and kind, making sure we made our way to there city safely as well as returning to Rome (Stefania texted us to make sure we were OK long after we had checked out).
Their apartment was amazing - perfectly located in the old part of the city. We were warm and cozy and were able to walk to great restaurants and bars, all recommended to us by our gracious hosts. We plan on returning in the spring or summer because we want more!
Great place to stay. Luigi is a very kind, generous man who met us at the train and helped us with our luggage in the pouring rain. The apartment is spacious and well equipped. It has a wonderful view even when it rains. Luigi and Stefania helped us find a restaurant that cooked gluten free meals and provided us with a map and other tourist information. We highly recommend this apartment.
Luigi is a really nice person. The apartment is really well located for discovering all the city and Parco Delle Chiese. Spacious and well equipped, and with a balcony with a great view.
The Loft in the Sassi with 'I due gattoni: (Luigi and Stefania ) was a terrific place to stay. We wish that we had arranged to be there longer than just two days. Luigi welcomed us with a wonderful cake, and provided great guides for the very well equipped and most comfortable loft apartment. We were very grateful for the washing machine after 2 weeks of travel. The 3 cats were great company, so much fun and a reminder of our own cats. The tips and suggestions for bisiting atera and places to eat were excellent! Thank you for a very fine experience in Matera.
