Sheila met us as pre-arranged, Derek sent detailed instructions for travelling in from the airport, and where to store our luggage on the last day prior to an evening flight. The flat is well equipped and spacious, easy to walk or bus in to town, nice stroll along the canal, even walking back at 11pm felt quite safe. Plenty of utensils if you want to cook, also plenty of local eateries of varying standards. Derek & Sheila were the perfect hosts, ready to share information if needed, but respecting privacy, available via phone, but not needed in our case.
Derek picked us up from the airport & straight to the delightful flat where we had tea coffee & muffins waiting. He was very I formative & there was a book full of information that we might need.I would recommend Derek's offer of picking you up from airport, especially if you arrive late like we did. The flat is a nice size & even though we didn't use the cooking facility's apart from the toaster,if you wanted to cook everything was there. The flat was a little too far to walk back & go out again the same day,so if you intend to do that get a bus or taxi.If you intend to stay out like we did, where flat shoes.
The flat was absolutely lovely. Clean, airy and very well lit. All the essentials were provided. The flat is also very conveniently located. The bus stop is a 5 minute walk. There is a Sainsbury closeby as well. We had absolutely no trouble during our stay. In fact we loved coming back to the apartment. This was my family and my first Airbnb experience and I must say that Derek and Fiona have set the standard quite high:) I would highly recommend this place to anyone planning to visit Edinburgh.
His sister-in-law met us and explained everything in the apartment. Gave us good instructions on local transportation. Her advice on local tourist attractions was helpful.
Apartment was comfortable, clean and in a great area of the city.
Our hosts Derek and Fiona were great. They made us feel at home, they provided excellent advice from the moment we booked their place. The apartment is lovely: lots of light, comfortable, perfectly clean, really good location. The neighbourhood is very good as well: lots of transport options, shops and even some very nice restaurants and a great pub very close to it.
Our visit to Edinburgh was focused on getting to know the city and the University with my two teenage children.
Derek has been the most wonderful host, picking us up (for a small fee) from the airport as we arrived quite late. It was truly great, the apartments as described and the walk into town along the little canal also wonderful.
Highly recommended and we will be back !
