The Space

Situated in the South West of the city, our flat is a traditional Edinburgh apartment, on the third floor (no lift) of a Victorian tenement building with superb views towards one of Edinburgh’s seven hills. Entry is via a secure entry phone system. It has been recently modernised, with double glazing fitted throughout and equipped with gas central heating offering a cosy retreat to relax in after exploring this beautiful city.

Technology - WiFi
Guests are provided with free access to the Internet via a superfast broadband connection using fibre optic cable providing speeds of up to 60Mb.

Accommodation consist of:
Spacious bright open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area. Flat screen TV (Freeview), DVD and iPod dock station. Small dining area. The Kitchen area includes induction hob, oven, grill, microwave, fridge-freezer, washing machine/dryer, toaster and kettle.

The flat has two bedrooms – configured as one double with king size bed and one twin, so it's suitable for up to four people.

Bathroom with bath/shower/WC

All rooms are attractively decorated, tastefully furnished and very comfortable.

All bedding and towels are provided and many other items like, washing powder and toilet soaps for your convenience.

In addition tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits are supplied with a pint of milk in the fridge for when you arrive.

All rental prices include council tax, reasonable use of gas and electricity.

Transport & Shopping
The Royal Mile/Edinburgh Castle and Princes Street are no more than 25 minutes stroll or if this seems too far, the flat is very close to bus services offering very frequent buses direct to Princes street and the Royal Mile.
Edinburgh has an excellent bus service at £1.50 per journey or £3.50 for a day ticket.

It is extremely handy for Haymarket, a 10 to 15 min walk, where you pick up the airlink airport bus which will whisk you to the airport in 25mins. There is also the option of using the number 35 bus to get to the airport, which you can pick up only 2 mins from the flat, which is a 50 min journey to the airport.

The nearest train station to the flat can also be found at Haymarket.

Handy for the rugby, with Murrayfield a 20 min walk away.

Nearby (5 min walk) Fountain Park complex - Cinema, Bowling, Kids Play, Virgin Active and with a good selection of restaurants.

Metered parking is available 8.30am to 17.30pm Monday to Friday. There is free on street parking 5 minutes walk away.

A meet and greet service is offered to help you settle in. If there are no guests departing on your day of arrival then early entry (prior to 11:00) can be arranged.
Bags can be dropped at the flat from 11:00 if there is a guest change over.

  • Derek's place was lovely, immaculately presented and lots of room for three. It's about a 20 minute walk to the Castle and there are lots of amenities on your doorstep.

    Derek himself was an exceptional host - friendly, welcoming and very helpful in helping us get to know the area. He even offers a pick up service from the airport! In the run up to our stay, he kept in touch on a regular basis, sending us detailed instructions about how to get from the airport to his place, and even agreed to give our cousin, who was not staying with us, a lift to his hotel. Derek was a standout host and would highly recommend his spacious, homely apartment.

  • Our trip to Edinburgh has been fantastic and we really want to thank Derek for making our stay so comfortable and uncomplicated! He welcomed us with open arms and helped us to settle in very quickly! The arange of maps and information in the flat have been also very usefull! The flat is even more nicer than on the pictures. Very clean and modern and you feel welcomed, the second you walk through the door. We highly recommend you to stay at this flat, with Derek as a host. It is easy to reach most of the important things by walking, but there is also a bus station, only about 2 minutes walk away! So all in all we had a really great time, thank you again!

  • Brilliant host and hostess, very accommodating and helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay in their beautiful apartment. Tastefully decorated, spotless, warm, felt like a home away form home. Perfect location, not a long walk from town and plenty in the area, cheap taxi into town and bus stop very close. Would jump at the chance to stay here again, thank you Derek and Sheila for making the weekend perfect!

  • Derek and Sheila were fantastic hosts. Derek e-mailed very clear directions indicating how to arrive to the apartment by foot, bus or taxi and was easily accessible for questions by e-mail or phone. Sheila met us on our arrival to the apartment and gave us the full tour followed by a review of a binder filled with maps, directions to local hotspots, and even menus for some of the nearby restaurants. There was also coffee, tea, milk, and muffins stocked in the kitchen. The apartment was gorgeous and incredibly cleanly in a perfect location well within walking distance to the Royal Mile. It was also on the top floor which provided us with some lovely views of Edinburgh. We would highly recommend Derek and Sheila!

  • I stayed in Derek's flat with my brother and cousin because we came up to Edinburgh for a family party. The flat was the perfect choice for us; it gave us a lovely relaxing space to catch up with each other and cook dinner together; the situation is ideal for access to the city centre (its walk-able if you like) and also travel from the airport ( the local bus from the airport practically stops outside the flat). The flat is so well decorated and everything you might need is in the flat to use, including lots of tourist guides for Edinburgh and the surrounds. We are very grateful for Derek and Sheila's hospitality. Would love to come and and will recommend! Thanks. Liz, Will and Emily :)

I love living in Edinburgh it is a magical city - there is alays something to do especially during the many festivals - the city is buzzing with people and events.
