It is best to contact us via the airbnb website at all times. I get constant text messages and I am always on this website so I should be able to answer your questions promptly.
We spent 5 days as a party of 3 mid May.
- good location close to Sedgwick station and #72 CTA bus, to supermarkets and Old Town shopping area and restaurants.
- Pleasant neighbourhood.
- spacious flat, true dining room space, 2 big bedrooms, 2 real bathrooms - just like on the photos.
- very easy and smooth check-in / check-out procedure.
- JoAnne is very responsive through e-mail and phone / text messages.
- The master bedroom is located just below the place on the roof where all the compressors for AC of the whole building are located. We used neither AC nor heating - but the neighbours did. Because sound insulation and/or antivibration devices are either non existent or poorly designed, we could hear the loud whirring of the compressors regularly during day and especially night, starting randomly. This was a real nuisance.
We have to be fair with JoAnne. She sent immediately and repeatedly repairmen (who could not improve things as it was a matter of design, not maintenance). She proposed another property (we declined this offer because the alternative location was not convenient from our tourist point of view for public transportation and shops / restaurants). We slept with earplugs that somewhat mitigated the nuisance. To be honest, had we been aware of this, we would probably have selected another property.
- The flat could do with some repair and refurbishment (some lamps / bulbs are not working etc.).
The neighborhood was very convenient and the apartment is well located. Did not receive any welcome from the owners. I did send a text message upon my arrival to say that everything was going well so far but never received a response. The welcoming part needs to be worked on for sure, for future guests. It just makes the overall experience better.
My guests and I also did not know that there was no elevator within the building and therefore, we had to lug our heavy suitcases up to the third floor. Not the most convenient thing.
Some friends and I were in town for an event and the location of the condo was perfect; smack in the middle of everything we needed to do.
The condo itself was alright, bordering on nice. Things just seemed a little old and just the slightest bit dingy. The towels were certainly clean, the heat worked wonderfully in the Chicago cold and the kitchen was well stocked.
Some of the things like soap and shampoo weren't the best and there was an odd smell that started up halfway through the evening on our first night. Not a bad smell - maybe someone cooking above or below us?
There's also a rooftop deck. We didn't use it but the stairs leading up to it are very cool and give the place a nice urban touch. I will mention that on our second night, there were some folks up there who were relatively loud and smoking until ~4:30am.
If you've ever stayed at an Airbnb where you think "why is all this stuff in the closet?" This is just a little bit like that. I appreciated that there were some things you'd never think to ask for (like a crib) but there were also stacks and stacks of white undershirts and some mismatched high heels in the closet.
All in all, good but not great.
The unit was very spacious and street parking was ample. Hosts were quick to respond to inquiries.
This is a corporate-owned property, and Steve was a great communicator as the property manager. The previous guests had left a bunch of trash that wasn't taken out, and there was only about 1 /4 roll of toilet paper in the bathroom, but other than that the place was great. Awesome location, and has pretty much everything you need.
