Spiros has been a great host. The property is located in the PetraLona district, at the skirt of Philopappos hill, a large, very nice and calm park for a walk up to the monument and a real good view of Athens.
It is also only about 12/14 mins walk to Petralona subway station
Also you can walk (15/20 minutes) up by a pedestrian path that leads to Apostolous Pavlo, Thissio and even Monastiraki.
The area is a calm typical medium-class greek and we felt safe at all times.
There are a few restaurants and taverns in the adjacent street (Tron) and even an open air cinema showing classic films.
The apartment is very clean and cozy and has all facilities. A.C in all rooms and many amenities including shampoo and soap etc and other such as café,olive oil, salt, vinegar etc., If you feel like cooking, which was nor our case except for the breakfast that we enjoyed at the balcony. All home appliances are first class.
We don't hesitate to recommend Spiros’ place and will definitely stay there if we return to Athens
Eucharisó poly Spiros
Spiros was an excellent host and this was the first airbnb experience for my mum and aunt. Spiros kindly welcomed them with bread and olives on their arrival and was happy to help with the queries. They loved coming back to the apartment after each day of touring which felt like a real home away from home. It was very clean, homely and both mum and aunt said that they would be disappointed if they had to stay in a hotel for their next holiday! Each morning they loved having breakfast on the balcony. Thank you Spiros for making this a truly special and memorable holiday experience!
We were staying at Spiros' apartment for 4 nights at the end of April 2015, and we loved every second of our stay! Our group consisted of two sisters bringing one infant each and our mother, and the apartment was spacious and baby friendly with elevator, wooden floors, heated bathroom and washing machine.
There were two verandas, one with sun in the morning and one with afternoon sun. Lovely!
The street was calm an quiet, wonderful area which we really loved! We could both enjoy cafes and restaurants AND the forest/recreational area just outside. Spiros gave is advice regarding restaurants and walking tracks, and we enjoyed the recommendations. Especially the fish restaurant nearby was great!
We walked everywhere and did not need a bus/metro ticket.
We visited many different areas in Athens, but none were as cosy as Petralona. We felt like home every time we got back to the apartment.
The apartment had everything we needed, and Spiros was very accommodating, meeting us at the euro and driving the luggage. He also helped us find out when the metro left for Pireaus and the ferries, which is directly from the Petralona metro station and takes approximately 20 minutes.
If we go back to Athens we would definitely stay here again!
Spiros was great. He made us feel very welcome, and was really helpful (offering to pick us up from Syntagma Square, printing out maps with suggested routes, and showing us how good Tsipouro is) The apartment was huge, and perfectly located. I would love to come back to Athens and will definitely stay in Spiros' lovely apartment.
Spiros is a great host, his apartment is in a very quet and safe neighborhood. Apartment has two balconies and two bathrooms. Do not forget to ask how to turn on heating if you travel during cold seasons. Just 15 minutes work to Acropolis if you go through a nice park - you can find a map near the door. If you take a taxi always negotiate the price before the trip because once we were asked $20 for a very short trip to Sintagma square which a day before was just $5! A subway station also is very close - about 10 min walking distance. A supermarket and good restaurants - 3-5 min.
Tanks a lot Spiros
Our host, Spyros, was most gracious and welcoming. He offered to meet us at a central location--Syntagma Square--and take us to the flat, but it was not necessary as I happen to know the city quite well.
The flat is lovely and the photographs on the AirBnB site entirely representative. It was spotless, nicely furnished, and spacious. The kitchen surpassed our expectations, as it featured high-end MIELE appliances and had lots of counter space for food preparation. We loved burning the fireplace on chilly nights. Spyros provided us with ample firewood at no additional cost. The wide veranda has views of the neighborhood and of the verdant Philopappos Hill.
The neighborhood is first-rate: safe, medium density, steps from lovely green spaces, less than 10-min walk from the Petralona Metro station. The street on which the flat is located is also steps from Troon Street, which is the neighborhood's commercial ribbon. It has a number of great tavernas. A decent supermarket is a couple of blocks away.
