Our house is in Balat / at central location in European side, 10 minutes by bus or tram to all historical peninsula and Taksim area (the heart of Istanbul night life). This friendly and unique neighbourhood has plenty of historical houses, mosques, churches, synagogs, old style shops, cafes, organic food bazaar on weekends.
And a great historic Turkish bath is just 20 steps away to my house - and it is not one of those expensive touristy ones :)
The area where our house is located is one of the main attraction for photographers. The location is also very close to the see (Golden Horn) - so you can have your morning walks seaside.
Our location is just few minutes by walk to bus stops.
The building has 3 floors with a nice garden. Your room is in the ground floor. It has a double bed, a wardrobe and a bed-stand - it's cosy and has a character.
We have fast internet connection, central heating and hot water facilities.
I believe in freedom in our personal choices and appreciate each person for who they are. So here is an LGBT friendly house and I am not interested in your religion :)
I hope you will enjoy your stay in our 130 years old greek house.
Erhan's work and passion are reflected in the location of his house. The neighbourhood and interior decoration has a distinct old world charm that is, in my opinion, very refreshing to come back to after a long day out. Erhan was aware of exorbitant taxi fares incurred by first-timers in the city and communicated with my driver before meeting me at the bus stop, where we did a quick tour of the neighbourhood and house before he rushed back to work, so I really appreciated him making the effort in the middle of the day. It was a shame, however, that I didn't have more time to chat with him as he was preoccupied with a side project, but our brief conversations revealed a concerned and accommodating host who wants nothing but a comfortable stay for his guests. So, thank you very much for being so gracious and for a pleasant stay. All the best to your art residency project!
Erhan has been a lovely guest! He made our taxi driver call him on our arrival so that we wouldn't be tricked, picked us up and show us around the house. He is a very easy-going person, open-minded and very interesting. It was so good to have him as a host!
The house is quite nice, on a very popular location, with every shops and places to eat a minute away, and very accessible by bus from the center. The garden has just been perfect for our breakfasts, and the house has every basic commodity. We strongly recommand this place!
Thanks again Erhan
I had such a wonderful time staying at Erhan's lovely home in Balat. Erhan is a thoughtful host -- giving me pointers on anything from public transport to where to find the best pide in the neighborhood -- and also just a complete sweetheart. I really enjoyed our conversations, and hearing his thoughts about the city.
The neighborhood is vibrant, very steeped in history, and a great way to get a different feel for Istanbul from the standard tourist haunts. Balat is the historic Jewish quarter, but also close to the historic Greek neighborhood of Fener and to the truly extraordinary, gorgeous Chora Church; it was really pleasant to just amble somewhat aimlessly about. Erhan's place felt like a home away from home after a long day of exploring -- I very much enjoyed my stay, and hope to have the chance to come back!
Erhan is the best host in Istanbul. He is very kind, sweet guy. I am the lucky one who went to his house and loved. He is very helpful and I am sure some day I will return to his house. Thanks Erhan, you are my friend.
I very much enjoyed the stay at Ehrans house. The house is clean and everything you need is available. Ehran is super friendly and I could ask him my questions all the time. He is definitly a great host. Balat is an amazing place to see, it is not very touristy but this is what I like. Great Food, nice Hamam, crazy buildings and a lot more .... Thanks for the nice time ....
Erhan's house is in a very authentic area of Istanbul and it's nice to go back there after a busy day visiting more touristic and noisy places. We enjoyed having breakfast in Erhan's garden and sharing a nice dinner with him and a friend of his on our last evening under the moonlight, his cat on our laps.
Erhan will show you his favourite restaurants, shops and hammams and if you're lucky he'll make you taste this turkish desert that, according to his words (and I'd agree), brings you directly to paradise !
A very good week at Erhan's place. The house is very friendly and so is the district, full of welcoming places where to enjoy a great breakfast before a day of discoveries.
Erhan is the nicest host, always ready to provide tips and advices to make your stay as good as possible, or chat about anything.
Thank you Erhan, we hope to see you on a second trip to Istanbul, one of these days.
I had a lovely stay in Erhan's house. The house is not easy to find but Erhan was very helpful with instructions and came to meet me at the local bus stop and gave me a good introduction to the neighbourhood. It is an interesting and historic area, off the beaten track but with all amenities. I thoroughly recommend the Turkish bath, not the one right by the house but down the main high street close to his house - Vodoni - think the baths was called Tahti Minare Hamini and is one of the oldest Turkish Baths in Istanbul apparently (but they don't speak any English!). The room is nice and cosy on a cold night and the shared areas are pleasant. Erhan was a great host and I would recommend this to others.
Comfortable and quirky house in a really interesting residential neighborhood just outside the old city. Erhan was away while I stayed there, but I can tell he would have been a great host. Highly recommended.
I had a great time at Erhan's house. He's very hospitable and quickly understood what I like so he gave me good pieces of advice for shopping.
The room is lovely but for those who can't stand the light like me I advice you to take a night mask :-)
I really enjoyed stay in Balat, because you really live the turkish lifestyle far from the scramble of the turistic area.
I definitely come back to Istanbul and to Ehran's house. Thanks for everything!
