The Space

Bring your passport and enjoy an international vacation destination! Windsor, Ontario, is this area's best-kept secret. Located directly across the river from Detroit, it enjoys all the amenities (culture, sports and entertainment) that Detroit has to offer, while keeping the feeling of a smaller town.
Come and enjoy our beautiful vintage home with award-winning gardens within steps of Coventry Garden waterfront park, the Detroit River and Peace Fountain. Enjoy our safe, quiet tree-lined boulevard and your spacious private room with cloud-like queen size bed with luxury bedding and private bath. Room has a sitting area with breakfast station and small fridge for your convenience. Free wifi, and on street parking available.

In the morning, watch the ships pass by on the Detroit River while you enjoy a bottomless cup of coffee (my husband is American, after all!) on our beautiful verandah. We are close to public transportation and minutes from the Detroit-Windsor tunnel. Head to Detroit to enjoy the Detroit Institute of Arts, housing many renowned masterpieces. Attend sporting events at Comerica Park, Ford Field or Joe Louis Arena. Only a bus ride away, Detroit is so close that it is recognized as our "home" teams. Come and cheer for the Lions, Tigers and Red Wings!

Every January, car enthusiasts flock to Detroit for the much-anticipated Detroit International Auto Show . You haven't seen anything until you have seen it in the Motor City!
If you are a runner, the Detroit Marathon held in October is unique, crossing the border twice, running over the Ambassador Bridge and through the Detroit-Windsor tunnel.

Stay on this side of the border and tour the Hiram Walker Distillery (the home of Canadian Club), attend world class entertainment at Caesars Windsor, visit the chic new restaurants in Walkerville. or attend one of the many festivals at our Festival Plaza on the waterfront. This is a great place for foodies and locavores! Do some day-tripping and "Explore the Shore", visiting the many award-winning wineries in the region, and enjoy our local produce. You can even follow the route of the Underground Railroad! We can provide you with a guidebook and map of the region and give you our suggestions for "must sees" in our area. Take a picnic (we will provide the picnic basket and blanket) and enjoy the sunset on the Detroit River
.
Come back and relax in our hot tub (especially if you have been running, sight-seeing or sitting outside in the stands!) or sit under our wisteria-covered pergola, have a barbeque, and watch the fireflies in summer. You will have a wonderful time!

  • Carol and Pat were great hosts making us feel instantly welcome. They served us delicious breakfast and GREAT coffee. The room was very comfortable. Carol was great at communicating prior to the visit and promptly returned all messages. I would recommend staying here.

  • Carol and Pat's place is great, and they are extremely friendly and welcoming. After a half hour, we felt like we knew them for years! The location is great for either side of the border, and the room was tidy, well furnished and comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic too - they are both good cooks!

  • Carol & Pat are excellent hosts! We had a fabulous weekend stay at their home while we were visiting for the Detroit Marathon. Carol was very easy to deal with, she always responded quickly to my emails and was really flexible. The house and room were exactly as pictured and they made us feel like we were at home. The delicious breakfast each morning, the very comfortable bed, and the hot tub made made us not want to leave. Both Carol and Pat know the area very well and can direct you to all the best places to visit during your stay if you are new.

Carol & Pat's home is in a great location, on a very nice, quiet street and walking distance to the Detroit River where you can walk the trail along the river and look at the great view of the Detroit skyline.

My wife and I definitely recommend staying with Carol & Pat if you are visiting the Detroit/Windsor area. They were awesome!

  • Carol and Pat were outstanding hosts! Their home is immaculate and very cozy. They are both great cooks and gave us valuable advice on what to do in Detroit after going to the autoshow. I definitely recommend their home; they were lovely to talk to and you'll feel like they're family by the time you leave. I'm definitely considering heading back in the summer!! Thank you for everything!!

Timo, We are glad that we could also provide a win for the Leafs to make your trip complete! Go Leafs!

  • Carole and Pat's house is immaculate and interesting and the guest room is comfortable and inviting. It is equipped with small fridge and coffee maker (not that you aren't welcome to have coffee downstairs, but they want to make sure you have every comfort in your room as well) . The mattress was exceedingly comfortable, and Carole even irons the high quality sheets! The bathroom has heated flooring and new plumbing. Along with providing so many amenities and little touches, Carole went the extra mile to make sure I was comfortable and happy at all times. She is an outstanding baker and cook and I was lucky enough to sample fresh bread and cinnamon roles and eat a delicious frittata she prepared. She is an interesting and caring person clearly devoted to making her guests stay as enjoyable as possible. She is also very knowledgeable about the Windsor/Detroit area. Thank you Carole and Pat!!!!!

  • Carol and Pat are fantastic hosts and their home is gorgeous, comfortable, and in a great location (really amazing to walk about the neighborhood)! I had a really lovely time talking with them both. Carol was such a sweetheart and so much fun! I was there to run the half marathon and Carol volunteered for it (she used to run, as well!). She helped at the packet pickup and at a water station on the course - we even carpooled to/from the race :) She is really witty, funny, thoughtful, and a solid conversationalist, as is Pat, too. Both are amazing cooks - you won't go hungry!! The bed was really comfortable and love the heated floor in the bathroom. I'll definitely be back!!

  • We stayed with Carol and Pat for about 6 hours. We arrived at 10 pm and left at 4 am. Carol managed to squeeze in an incredible amount of hospitality in that short time. It was a great beginning to our 2 week Canadian vacation.

  • Carol and Pat were amazing hosts. I thoroughly enjoyed my 3 night stay in their lovely home which included a very comfortable bed, fresh towels, breakfast for a king, enjoying each others music, lovely wine, and their company as well as mutual laughter. They both went out of their way to make my stay extra special.

About
Hello! Pat and I are a Canadian and American couple, ages 60 (I just had this BIG birthday) and 65 who enjoy travelling and adventure. We hiked through the rainforests of Costa Rica a couple of years ago for our fifth wedding anniversary! I am a newly-retired native Windsorite (I moved to Toronto for five years and came back), and Pat is a retired Michigan attorney now following his passion and cooking occasionally in a little bistro. We enjoy everything that the unique Windsor-Detroit area has to offer, and will help you to find the best places to go on both sides of the border. We love to meet people and are looking forward to meeting you!
