Room has a sitting area with breakfast station, microwave and a small fridge for your convenience. Free wifi, and on street parking available.
In the morning, watch the ships pass by on the Detroit River while you enjoy a bottomless cup of coffee (I did say my relatives are American, didn't I?) on our beautiful verandah. We are close to public transportation and minutes from the Detroit-Windsor tunnel. Head to Detroit to enjoy the Detroit Institute of Arts, housing many renowned masterpieces. Attend sporting events at Comerica Park, Ford Field or Joe Louis Arena. Only a bus ride away, Detroit is so close that it is recognized as our "home" teams. Come and cheer for the Lions, Tigers and Red Wings!
Every January, car enthusiasts flock to Detroit for the much-anticipated Detroit International Auto Show . You haven't seen anything until you have seen it in the Motor City!
If you are a runner, the Detroit Marathon held in October is unique, crossing the border twice, running over the Ambassador Bridge and through the Detroit-Windsor tunnel.
Stay on this side of the border and tour the Hiram Walker Distillery (the home of Canadian Club), attend world class entertainment at Caesars Windsor, visit the chic new restaurants in Walkerville. or attend one of the many festivals at our Festival Plaza on the waterfront. This is a great place for foodies and locavores! Do some day-tripping and "Explore the Shore", visiting the many award-winning wineries in the region, and enjoy our local produce. You can even follow the route of the Underground Railroad! We can provide you with a guidebook and map of the region and give you our suggestions for "must sees" in our area. Take a picnic (we will provide the picnic basket and blanket) and enjoy the sunset on the Detroit River
Come back and relax in our hot tub (especially if you have been running, sight-seeing or sitting outside in the stands!) or sit under our wisteria-covered pergola, have a barbeque, and watch the fireflies in summer. You will have a wonderful time!
We believe all people using AirBnB are fundamentally good people so a trust system is in place at our home... Please respect our home as you would yours.

PLEASE NO SMOKING, PLEASE NO SMOKERS:We are non-smokers, and we appreciate that you also want a smoke-free environment.
PLEASE NO PETS: We know that pet owners are wonderful people (our children all have pets!), but for the comfort of all, we do not allow them here. We will help to find you a reliable kennel to board your pet.
KITCHEN- Our kitchen is fully stocked (an understatement!) and everything is available for guests to use including condiments, towels, plates, cups, mugs, cookware, pots, pans, utensils, and silverware. There is a gas barbecue also available for your use.
Please note: Use any of our products, foods etc., with caution if you have allergies.
BEDROOM(S) AND BATHROOM- Clean and fresh bedding (we even wash the bedspread between guests...better than a hotel!) and towels will be provided along with a variety of toiletries and a hair dryer to use during your stay. An iron and ironing board are also available. Let us know if you need anything. Chances are we have it!
HOT TUB- You are welcome to use the hot tub, but use caution and use it at your own risk. We keep it cooler in the summer, and hotter in the winter, so that we can stay outside longer, but can adjust the temperature for your comfort.
PARKING- There is street parking available at no charge. We are also just a few minutes from the train station.
Please help us to keep the house clean and neat, for the enjoyment of all. The telephone number to our house is (phone number hidden), and my cell phone number is (phone number hidden))
* Most of all. ENJOY YOUR STAY. We will do all that we can to ensure that you do!
It was a joy meeting and staying with Carol. She is warm and friendly, very accommodating and we felt as if we were staying with an old friend. We loved her home and neighborhood. We especially enjoyed talking with Carol on her porch. She made us a fabulous breakfast before we left to continue on our journey. She was an incredible host! We would love to go back.
Everything was as described or better. Carol opened her house to us and was a very gracious host. We felt right at home with her. Turned out we knew each other somewhat from another life and time. The breakfast was phenomenonal and tailored to our diets. The hot tub was very refreshing until it rained. Lol.
I would recommend staying there to anyone. If back in the area would stay there in a heartbeat. Very comfortable bed.
Thank you Carol
Carol was a lovely hostess; she went beyond what we were expecting. Her house is situated on a quiet street and I was able to walk to the boardwalk one evening and watch the sunset over the water. The bed is very comfortable and Carol did everything she could to accommodate me and my husband and our little ones. Thank-you, thank-you for helping us have one of our best weekends.
I nominate Carol as super host of the year! She was so welcoming and hospitable throughout our stay. She went above and beyond her duties as a host and not to mention how lovely her house guest room was. She had fresh flowers and anything we could possibly need during our stay. Carol is quite the chef and prepared such a delicious breakfast. Her private and beautiful back yard with a grill, lounge and jacuzzi was a great place to spend an evening! All of this within a prime location near the Detroit river park and other entertainment in historic Windsor! I highly recommend her listing!
Carol was a wonderful host with a beautiful house artfully and tastefully decorated. She is not only a wonderfully communicative and welcoming host, but also a great cook who provided healthy and tasty breakfast dishes for us. The neighbourhood is one of the best in Windsor - quiet, peaceful and well-kept. It is a feast for the eyes. Neighbourhood walks are highly recommended - especially along the lush, green scenic waterfront that looks onto the famous Detroit River waterway and spectacular views of Detroit and Belle Isle. After a long walk along the river, spend some time on her front porch or charming well-kept garden in the backyard. I would highly recommend Carol and her listing and will certainly stay again when my family visits Windsor.
I am very grateful that Carol was able to accommodate me on such short notice! The room was very comfortable, peaceful and quiet which was a nice change from the hustle and bustle of downtown Toronto. Carol was a great host. She even cooked breakfast the next morning and had frothed lactose free milk - so unexpected! I would definitely stay with Carol again. The wifi was super fast, the bed was beyond comfortable, and everything was clean. I was only there for about 12 hours so I didn't get to enjoy all the amenities she had available (like the soda and beer in the fridge, the wonderful front porch area, or the great backyard) but I am sure other Air BnBers would certainly appreciate these amenities. I highly recommend you consider staying with Carol on your next trip to Windsor!
The host was prompt in response, accurate in describing the accommodation, Carol is warm and welcoming, her house is fantastic, she made our one night stay most enjoyable.
About the Host, Carol
Happily retired from a career in education, I enjoy travelling and adventure, and now have more time for both. I have visited several countries in Europe and plan to go back (an extended stay in Italy is still on the list!) and have hiked through the rainforests of Costa Rica and stayed in remote villages.
I am a native Windsorite; I moved to Toronto for five years in the 80s and came back because I missed the amenities offered here in our international location. Since most of my family is located in the U.S., I have travelled seamlessly between the two countries my entire life. I enjoy everything that the unique Windsor-Detroit area has to offer, and will help you to find the best places to go on both sides of the border, for arts, culture, food or entertainment.
Having travelled much for business and pleasure, I hope to make your stay here comfortable and enjoyable. I love to meet people and I am looking forward to meeting you!
