Description

The space

You have your own bedroom with a comfortable double bed (smaller than a queen size bed) and you share the single bathroom with us. You’re invited to sit out on the deck and soak up the view whenever the weather permits. You're also welcome to light use of the kitchen.
Additionally:
We provide a simple make-your-own breakfast such as fruit and granola. , Feel free to store additional breakfast items in our refrigerator. Safeway and Whole Foods Markets are both nearby popular places to purchase groceries. Most of our guests opt for one of several incredible breakfast options nearby. We always have coffee and tea available for you.
My husband and I are welcoming, friendly hosts, happy to help you find your way around you. I am a yoga teacher and body movement therapist, and my husband is a mortgage broker. Although we both have active lives, we enjoy meeting and interacting with our guests. At the same time we know that you have your own plans and priorities, and we want to respect your alone time and privacy.
We live in a great part of San Francisco. The air is fresh, the people are friendly and we're close to great dining and neighborhood shopping. 24th Street in "downtown" Noe Valley is one of the most delightful neighborhoods in San Francisco. It's like being in a small town in the midst of a big city.

We are in a great location for walking, driving, and taking public transportation.

Walking:
We're a 10 min. walk downhill to 24th St., the trendy, shopping and dining street of Noe Valley; a 5 minute walk uphill to Safeway supermarket, Walgreens pharmacy, post office, and a few eateries
Some of our more ambitious guests walk to nearby neighborhoods including the Castro, the Mission, and Glen Park. We are on a steep hill, so be prepared, especially on the way back! Remember, you can always hop on the bus!
Public Transportation:
Our house is close to several bus lines: the 35, 24, and 52 lines are all a short walk from our house. The 35 is particularly close, a leisurely one minute and ten second walk from our house to the bus stop. (Yes, we timed it!)
The 35 will take you to "downtown" Noe Valley and the Castro within minutes. At the Castro St. Station you can connect to many other lines that will easily take you downtown and beyond.
The 24 and 52 are both within 5 minutes of our house and will take you to many other neighborhoods as well as to other lines that will connect you to the entire city and to BART. We're happy to assist you with bus schedules and answer your questions as best we can. All of this information can be found online, too.
One other popular option is to take the J-Church streetcar to downtown. It's a 10 minute walk downhill from our house to the 27th St. stop. This tram goes mainly above ground and offers interesting and lovely views of different neighborhoods and Dolores Park along the way.
Driving:
We're in a terrific location for those of you who are driving.
Parking on street near our house is easy and free (unlike many parts of San Francisco). Our house is on a steep street, but most guests park in front of our house or within a few houses of ours. Occasionally a guest will park down the hill or on the nearest cross street as it is flatter, after first dropping their bags off.
Three important things to know about parking (we'll help you with all of them!):
1) Be careful not to block anybody's driveway.
2) Be sure to "curb" your wheels on hills like ours.
3) Pay attention to the parking signs.
We are convenient to other San Francisco neighborhoods as well as to highways that will get you to anywhere in the Bay Area including Berkeley, Oakland, Silicon Valley, Santa Cruz, Monterey, Marin County, Point Reyes National Seashore, Sonoma County and Napa Valley wineries, and more.
Taxi: Taxi rides are easy to arrange and very affordable. Choose from traditional taxis to services like Lyft and Uber to get around town!
Having a smart phone for maps, transportation schedules, and mapping is a real convenience, although not a necessity. We have wireless internet to assist in your searches.
The telephone number in our listing does not accept texts as it is a home phone so feel free to call and leave a voice message or use email. If you need to text do so to Ed’s cell which we'll provide once your reservation is confirmed.

Guest access

In addition to your room, you have access to the bathroom you share with us (and our cat- her litter box is in the bathroom).

Although you are welcome use the kitchen and dining area for breakfast.
we ask that you not use the kitchen for cooking your lunch or dinner or dinner.

You can use our outside deck most anytime that we are not using it.

Interaction with guests

We both work from home, but are enjoy interacting with our guests when we are not engaged in our work. That said, we also want to respect your privacy. We try to follow your lead when it comes to talking about your day but please let us know if we've missed your cues! Your comfort is important to us.

Other things to note

We have a very delightful cat named Emily. She doesn't go in your room, but she does roam the rest of our house. So if you are allergic to cats, we may not be the best choice for you.

We live on a steep hill. Most people have no problem with this. However, if you have limited mobility, this may be a challenge for you and we suggest choosing another place on easier terrain to navigate.

No smoking on our property, thank you.

Amazing location, amazing view, amazing hosts. We didn't get to meet Judy as she was away, but Ed was a wonderful host. They are great at communicating and offer an awesome listing. The view of the city is quite something. You will be greeted warmly with many recommendations for restaurants and activities. Their space is shared, but comfortable. And their cat Emily is definitely a cuddler, which made me feel at home. Thanks!!

The place was great! They were very easy to get in touch with so communication was never a problem. The place was very easy to find. Once we got to the house, they showed us where everything is and helped us get settled. The place was warm and comfortable so that's always a plus. I also can't forget to mention that their backyard had a FANTASTIC view of the entire city - I wish I had more time during my trip to enjoy it. They also gave wonderful food recommendations too - had both dinner and breakfast from their suggestion list that they provided and I was satisfied with both! :) Last but not least, they were extremely kind and I truly thank them for their wonderful hospitality. I'd definitely stay again!

Judy and her husband were very hospitable and great hosts. We weren't able to check-in until after 11pm and they were there waiting with tea and a few good stories! The house has a great view and a close walk/drive to a lot of fun things to do. It's a great quiet oasis in the middle of the busy city! It was a great start to our trip to SF

Judy and Ed have a beautiful home in San Fran with stunning views over the city! The room was very comfortable and was the perfect little place for us to come back and relax in after a long day of exploring. Parking was no problem at all, and their home is located near a number of really nice restaurants and cafes. Judy and Ed were absolutely lovely, and we thoroughly enjoyed meeting and chatting with them. We thank you for having us!

Ed and Judy were very kind and gave useful information about what to do in San Francisco. Their home is located in a very safe and quiet neighborhood and the bus stops super close to their home. My wife and I enjoyed the view from the home and how cozy the room feels. The only constructive criticism we have is that the bathroom could be cleaner. Regardless, we recommend this stay and we appreciate this experience!

Judy User ProfileJudy is a superhost.

I'm a Yoga teacher and body movement therapist, happy to share my skills with you for a deeply discounted fee (just give me your tired, your poor). When I'm not doing yoga or helping others feel better I'm often imagining myself in a Latin American country such as Guatemala where I lived with a family and studied Spanish. If you're up for it, I welcome the opportunity to practice with you.
