My lovely compact home is situated on London Road in Edinburgh, 15 minutes walk from with the east end of Princes Street and benefiting from excellent bus links both into the city and out to the beach. This is an excellent base to discover Edinburgh, with Holyrood Palace (10min walk), Calton Hill (15min walk), and the city centre (15minute walk) all on the doorstep.
The flat is in a traditional tenement building, built approximately in 1900. With that said, there are not the modcons of a modern build such as a lift, but it makes up for this in character! The flat is on the second floor and has 2 double bedrooms, a living room/kitchen, high ceilings, beautiful wooden floors throughout, gas central heating, double glazing and a constantly hot shower.
A simple breakfast is included in the price of the room. Self service - help yourself to as much as you like! (Tea / coffee, Cereals, Bread / rolls, Mini croissants / pancakes, Jams, Yoghurts, Eggs *** Please state whether you would like breakfast on booking - to ensure I shop for groceries! ***
The bedroom is fully furnished with double bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, dressing table, mirror, small bookshelf complete with international travel guides and novels - help yourself whilst you are here. Included in the price: bed linen, towels, hairdryer, WIFI, shared shower room.
With prior arrangement it is possible to use the washing machine and the shared kitchen to prepare meals - please let me know at booking if you hope to self cater using the kitchen.
The flat is situated on the crossroad of Easter and London Rd in the Abbeyhill area of Edinburgh. Lothian buses (phone number hidden) leave from just outside flat and serve the city centre (5mins) or out of town towards the beach... The 35 is particularly useful as it is the airport bus and so there is a door to door service to the airport... A single ticket on any of the buses is £1.50, a day ticket £3.50. There is on street parking on the side streets 5-10mins walk away.
There is a large Sainsbury's supermarket 400metres from the flat, and locally there are useful shops like a post office, bakery, off license, video rental, florist, takeaway, dry cleaners, hairdressers etc.
I love making people feel welcome, whilst also offering a space where people can make themselves at home and come and go as they please. I usually have a copy of the Skinny and The List which are both good for up to date listings of what is on around the city. I also have the List's restaurant guide for Edinburgh and Glasgow 2013 and a tourist guide to the city... I have also put together a pack for visitors in order to make the most of your stay, which includes some local transport information, some local restaurant recommendations...

We stayed for three nights in Leila's lovely flat in Edinburgh. She is a wonderful host, making us feel very welcomed and immediately at home. She is full of nice recommendations, very friendly and I couldn't recommend staying at her flat more. Thank you again!
Leila welcomed me very warmly. Already before I started my journey to Edinburgh, Leila wrote me a lot of information about the trip and the city (for example on which side of the train I should sit, to see the sea). Leila is a very funny and open person. So it's easy to feel like at home. Her flat is cosy and very well situated. It doesn't take a long time to get to nice beaches, the city centre and the old town. It takes you 5 minutes on foot to get to the Palace and at the foot of Arthur's Seat. There are many shops around the corner and a great bakery, which is known in whole Edinburgh. At Leila's home is nothing missing you need in a foreign city. I really enjoyed the stay at Leila's home!
Leila was a delight!! Very nice and very helpful! We loved to stay with her, and her apartment was great as well!! Great views, like 20 min away from the bus stop (in a bus that even brings you right from the airport) bed and bedroom were great as well, very complete breakfast, and really nice chats!!
We fully recomend staying with Leila!
Leila's place is THE best place to stay in Edinburgh! It's very beautifully decorated, clean, has a comfy bed, a charming kitchen equipped with all you need and a cute little bathroom with an excellent shower!
Also, staying with Leila was a lot of fun. She is very easy to talk to, gives out great recommendations café/food-wise (Brewlab!) and she even made me pancakes for our last breakfast!! I felt at home at once. Rather than being a random guest it seemed like I was staying at a friend's house. Thank you, Leila!
I had the best stay with Leila when I got to Edinburgh. She was really friendly and welcoming, and great to have around whilst I was getting to know Edinburgh. The room was great, as was the flat itself. Very clean and homely! I'd definitely recommend Leila's flat to anyone coming to Edinburgh, and would like to say that I was so glad that Leila was the first person I met when I moved here because she's so lovely. Thank you, Leila!
I loved my stay with Leila, great location !! Leila makes you feel at home straight away and gives you all the inns and outs of Edinburgh. My room was clean and tidy and had plenty of room.
Will I be going back to Edinburgh yes and the first person I will mail is Leila to see if she has room for me .
Staying with Leila was a really nice and wonderful experience! The flat is big and full of light, the kitchen is a really cozy place (I used to work there all the time) and the room looked actually even more beautiful than in the pictures. And there are many buses passing nearby, so that you can basically go wherever you want without even needing to change buses while travelling.
Leila was a wonderful host, and I wished I had had more time to spend with her! She was really nice, as she provided me with information about what places to visit during my stay and how to get there, and she had even a guide to Edinburgh in Italian for me to use:) Overall a really great experience, and a place I would surely recommend to others!
Leila is super helpful when it comes to planning for your trip and her place is charming and comfortable. The location is great-- walking distance to the center of Edinburgh, but a bit more subdued area. Overall, wonderful place and host!
A great spot for visitors to Edinburgh with a terrific host. Leila really helped us get acquainted with the city, and the apartment is within walking distance of most central sites. Good bus connections as well.
Leila is as charming as her apartment. She is very welcoming, friendly and kind. I felt at home in her cozy space. Great location!! Walking distance from the best the city has to offer. Glad I made the journey and found such a wonderful place to stay. 100% recommend her place!!!
