Harlem is a bustling ball of energy that offers the best of Manhattan without the over crowding of mid-town or downtown Manhattan. Our restaurant scene is tops and getting better every year. Chuck out these restaurants online prior to your arrival: Red Rooster, Sylvia's, Tio Luca, Minton's, Corner Social, and many others listed on Yelp.
Public transit is only a 3 block walk away from my apartment. These are the trains in my immediate area that take you to every corner of NYC: A, B, C, D,2,3,4,5,6, Metro North and the M60 Bus to La Guardia airport. Please see the MTA map online for further details about the trains on 125th street.

Marsha's apartment was very well located - close to the subway, and an easy walk to Central Park. Marsha wasn't in the country when I arrived, and her brother was going to be there instead, but due to what I assume was a small mix-up on arrival dates, he wasn't there either. However a neighbour kindly met me to give me the keys, everything was clean and ready for me, and once Chris arrived he was very helpful and welcoming. There wasn't any ac in the bedroom, but there was a fan so I was perfectly comfortable despite the unseasonably warm nights. Overall I was very happy with this apartment and definitely recommend it to anyone else.
Marsha was not home but her brother was a good host, very helpful and friendly. I loved the apartment and would stay again if I was in New York. Everything was as pictured and very easy access to buses and trains. I felt welcome and the bed was comfortable what more could you ask.
La descripcion delmanuncio era correcta. El departamentomesta muy bien situado respecto de los medios de transporte y Marsha es sumamente amable.
Our plane had been delayed for an hour and a half -- we also had no internet so I wasn't able to contact her to tell her so. I was concerned about a bad first impression and that she might be worried or annoyed. However, when we arrived at her apartment (easy to find!) she greeted us with big smiles and hugs. Marsha is very easy going and friendly. She managed to maintain that perfect balance between making sure we were eating properly and leaving us to our own devices. Her entire apartment was very clean and well kept. Our room was awesome. We felt at home immediately. We loved staying in Harlem -- especially that part of Harlem because it wasn't too far from everything but it was also out of the hustle bustle of the crowds. In short, our stay was very enjoyable and if we ever go back to NYC, I hope we can stay at Masha's again.
I spent one month with Marsha. Marsh is helpful, and the house is very clean. I recommend people who are looking for a clean house. Everything is fine, expect there is no air condition in my room and I woke up at night because of heat.
Thank you for your review Chelsea. For guests who are interested in booking my room for the summer months please note that it can be quite hot and humid in NYC in the summer and I have a very big air conditioning unit that keeps the house cool during the day along with fans. At night guests may choose to sleep with the fan on, with or with out an open window. Most guests are comfortable. Miss Chelsea made it clear that she had a very low threshold for heat so everyone is different in this manner. As a note, I always strive to make each guest as cool and comfortable as humanly possible in the summer months and have had a great success in the past in doing so. Thank you again for booking my room Chelsea.

I am a trained opera singer who has sung throughout the USA and in Europe, specifically Italy. I have also sung in Austria and travelled to France and Germany. I speak Italian, French, Spanish and some German fairly well but my most proficient foreign language is French, then Italian and Spanish and my German is just ok. I am from the Southern part of the USA and I believe in "Southern Hospitality" and love to have guests in my home. So, if you are looking for a warm and inviting space then you have found the right host.
I'm in my late 30's and enjoy foreign films, running stairs in various parks here in NYC, and visiting with friends.
The five things that I cannot live without is a clean bathroom, Cadbury Fruit and Nut, great bath products, Clarin's night brightening cream, and a breeze on a hot day in NYC.
I am from a professional family: my Mom is a nurse and my Dad is an engineer. I have two sisters one of whom just graduated from University of Texas in Austin with a Master's degree and the other who is in Law school at University of Virginia. I have recently gone back to school and obtained a professional certificate in Orthopedic Extremities and Biologics with a minor in the Spine Specialty and was also Valedictorian of my class.
My style of hosting is to make sure that my guest(s) are very comfortable and have everything that they need.
My new life motto is "Everything and everyone is a part of my good and life supports my happiness." This can only be true I am supportive of the good and happiness of others.....
