Come stay in our spacious home in walking distance of Cal Poly (10 min) and downtown (25 min). Full of color, light, art and folk art, the house was designed in early 90's by Steven Pults. Now, with our kids gone, we're happy to share it with you.
We have three bedrooms available. You are looking at Linnea's room, which is a little is smaller than Juliet's but still spacious, bright and airy. It has an exceptionally comfortable queen-sized bed (memory foam on a hybrid spring and cotton futon), a desk and a chair.
Juliet and Linnea's rooms have a shared bath, so we try to rent one room at a time, or to rent both rooms to the same party, but there may be times when you are asked if you mind sharing the bath.
Guests can use the gardens, back deck and the pleasant ground floor living room anytime, and usually the kitchen. There are toys and books in the living room, a big screen for dvds (no TV) and a stack of games for rainy days.
We ask that you respect our family's daily routines when using the space on the second floor: the kitchen, the dining room and the back room. Feel free to make yourself at home if no one else is using the those areas or ask if it's okay to share them.
The third floor is private.
Tom and I love sharing our home with guests from around the world. International travelers ourselves, and hosts to exchange students and SERVAS travelers for years before discovering Airbnb, there's nothing we enjoy more than a lively conversation at the dining room table, on the deck, or by the fire.
San Luis Obispo has amazingly good weather year around, a lively downtown, many excellent restaurants, wonderful music and arts, and the best chocolate around. We're seven miles from the beach and an hour from Hearst Castle, in the midst of great wine country in Edna Valley, Paso Robles and more.
Our home is in Monterey Heights, the northeast corner of SLO, next to the university campus. A ten minute walk south takes you to San Luis's uptown district, halfway to downtown, where there are plenty of restaurants and cafes: Splash, Steynberg, Central Coast Brewing - and our own Mama Ganache chocolate shop.
A 25 minute walk, 10 minute bike ride or a 5 minute drive away, San Luis Obispo's charming downtown is bigger than one would expect for a city this size, with a lovely creek walk lined with cafes at its center, interesting side streets, and a mix of local and nationally known stores.
Don't miss the Mission and its garden, the small but always interesting Art Museum and the History Center right across the street, and the Children's Museum, which our grandchildren haven't tired of yet, all along the creek walk.
A bus stop is two blocks away, and the Amtrak station about a mile. Easy freeway access, street parking available for one car.
Eve's place was comfortable and conveniently located to restaurants and the art museum. We enjoyed morning coffee and tips for how to spend our day.
Eve and Tom are wonderful hosts and the space was very comfortable. We will definitely be returning.
Eve and Tom's home is as colorful, comfortable, and vibrant as they are. It's a real home. Besides their spectacular use of color and all the great smells coming from the kitchen, both they and the floor plan of their home allow for easy interaction as well as privacy. Their location is ideal to sidestep the hubbub of downtown (during a busy holiday weekend), but still close to everything. The bedroom I stayed in was clean, cozy, and comfortable and the sheets were lovely soft cotton. 10/10. Thanks for a great get-away (and the orange truffle from Mama Ganache was yumalicious!)
A beautiful home close to lots of fun places to shop and eat. There was a living room for us to hang out in as guests, a refrigerator, and we were welcome to use the coffee maker and teapot in the morning. We shared a bathroom between two rooms but it wasn't a big deal because it was within our party. We had originally booked one room for 5 people, but ended up needing two. Very gracious hosts!
My friend and I only spent one brief night at Eve's house and it was great. The bed was really comfortable and it was a quick drive to downtown (definitely walkable too). Eve pointed us to the farmer's market which was an awesome steer. We didn't spend much time with her or her husband, but they were friendly and helpful. The house was clean and comfortable. There were even chocolates on our pillow! Yum!
We spent two nights at Eve's house. We were busy working and not around much, but the house is just fine. We appreciate the guest refrigerator and the special chocolates on the pillow.
Eve and Tom are great hosts, the house is beautiful and the room we had was clean and pretty.
Another perk of staying at Eve's - you can visit their chocolate shop nearby!)
I made this booking on behalf of my son, who was visiting a friend in college there. My son tells me that Eve and Tom are amongst the most warm and hospitable people he's ever met. He says that their home was warm and lovely, and that he absolutely wants to stay with them on all future trips to San Luis Obispo!
In some detail, my 21 yr old son was scheduled to accompany me on a business trip to Las Vegas. At near last minute he decided to nest a trip to San Luis Obispo, and asked me to help with setting that up. We have previously had a very positive experience together with Airbnb on a trip to Montreal, and found Eve's house as closest to the college campus.
Regarding communication, Eve responded instantly to our queries. I explained that our son would not arrive until very late in the evening, and leave very early (6am) after two evenings and they were totally accommodating! My son had such a great visit to the area that he chose to change to a later flight to spend an additional day there rather than return to Las Vegas
My son tells me the accommodations were extremely comfortable, and he felt very welcome their home. Little niceties like talking over french-pressed coffee made a huge impact on his stay.
Eve & Tom, thank you for being such gracious hosts during my son's visit!!!
We had such a great stay with Eve and Tom. Everything was as described. We only wish we had been able to spend more time with them, getting to know them better! We look forward to coming back for a longer period next time.
Eve & Tom are wonderful hosts with a beautiful home. Our stay there was all too brief, as we wanted an early start for our trip to Big Sur. the engaging conversations will just have to be continued on our next visit to San Luis Obispo.
