was traveling to Boston for 3 days of appts and events, with 2 colleagues, so the location was ideal for us, albeit one of us had to sleep on the couch. July can be pretty hot and the AC situation was available, but it comes at a $10 a day additional charge, so be careful. there are fans as well, but note to any renter: read the house rules, both clear and extensive. And if you are parking a car, bring $100 with you, as the permit you'll need to ask for requires a $100 deposit. Owner of space, who lives right next door, was available via text, and comunicated regularly. Was also in and out of the rental space when we were not home to make use of laundry facilities, and make sure AC's weren't left running. Very concerned about the electric bill. But again, location worked for us.
Hi Chris, Thanks for writing now. In our defense, please note:
-We wish you had you said something at the time, as we thought that we had really simple and reasonable requests and that you were fine with everything, or else we would have definitely done things differently to make you happy and feel less bothered.
-We didn't ask you to pay any money for usage of either the parking permit nor for the A/C. In lieu, I asked if you'd let us try one of your wines that you made which you seem happy to do.
-The $100 permit deposit is only held temporarily during your stay and is returned in full immediately to you upon departure as it costs to replace it if people accidentally forget to give it back.
-I did ask you first ahead of time if you didn't mind that when no one was home, if I stopped in to use only the dryer, as ours wasn't working which you seemed not to mind at all.
- When people are not planning to share either the available queen bedroom or the double bedroom, we do make up the living room single couch and/or the queen sofa bed with a memory foam topper both of which everyone has said were very comfortable.
-We ask that people help conserve energy & close all windows when running the A/C's for efficiency and conservation, as well as shut off everything when they are out of the house.
Kay welcomed us when we arrived and she was very helpful with our late arrival from the airport. The apartment was exactly as described.
This apartment in Davis Square was wonderful for our home away from home Thanksgiving holiday with our son who is studying at MIT and his friends. We had a delightful time and plenty of space to host a dinner for 8! The neighborhood is just beautiful, quiet, and easily accessible to the Davis Square T stop. Guests should note that there is no television and the internet is unreliable at best. We would certainly rent again!
This house is located just off Mass ave so access to the bus is very easy. There is a few block walk to the Davis T station. A nice 5-10 min walk. The house is an old victorian style house. Kay the owner was very helpful with local information. The house itself could use some updating. There are 2 nice bedrooms. The couches are not very good for sleeping. There is one bathroom for all to share. The kitchen was adaquate for the few meals we made in the house.
Four of us stayed in Kay's 2 bed property for 5 nights in October for a family wedding that was taking place in Boston. In general we found the location to be excellent and enjoyed feeling part of everyday life. The neighbourhood is lovely and close to lots of good restaurants, shops, bars etc. The T line is also only a couple of blocks away. The house itself is a real family home, filled with the owners books, cds etc. It was warm and comfortable & the 2 double beds were very comfortable. It could do with some updating (ceiling tiles in the bathroom were falling off) and was a little full of unnecessary furniture -particularly in the back bedroom. The area is very quiet and there was no disturbance from outside on any night of our stay. In fact, the only noises we heard were from above where it sounded like some vacuuming was being done (at 1am!) Apart from that our stay was incident free & Kay was very responsive when contacted. As we had a lot of family events on during our stay we weren't in the house very much and didn't use the cooker or even the TV. We didn't require Kay's help on anything but I'm sure had we any questions or issues she would have been right there to deal with them. A great area of Boston to visit & stay in.
This is a truly lovely home - and it feels like you are home - in a beautiful neighbourhood. Quiet and very close to Davis Square shops and train station. Couldn't ask for more.
We are a family of six (2 + 4), teenager kids, visited Boston for 4 days.
The apartment located in a good location, 7 min walking from T-Train (Davis Station), and you can have parking permit with reasonable fee on the street nearby. House is clean, well maintained although not super new, you have all you need and more.
The owner (Ms. Kay) is very nice and helpful, communication via email working well and overall I would recommend this apartment for my friends and in general.
Overall: good cost-benefit ratio, good location, good and helpful host, nice and quite area.
