About This Listing
A modern first floor 2 bedroom apartment in a quiet development of only 10 apartments. Facilities include wireless broadband, digital TV, central heating, shared shower/bath room. All kitchen facilities available to guests. Off street parking is available right at front door.
The apartment is situated in Ballyhackamore, Belfast's most interesting 'urban village', with great bars, restaurants and shops within a 2 minute walk and excellent direct public transport to city centre.
The room available has 2 single beds, wardrobe etc although often the entire apartment is available as I spend some time in our main home out of town. (The cost of the entire apartment is £70 per night or £450 per week but you will need to check first if available)
The apartment is a 10 minute taxi ride from Belfast City Airport, and a 25 minute drive from the international airport. It is also on one of the most frequent service bus routes to/from the city centre.
This is not a 'professional B & B', but my home in Belfast, used mainly during the week, so sometimes the entire apartment is available for use. I try to keep it clean and tidy (but don't expect your bed linen / towels to be ironed :) and expect guests to do likewise. I don't smoke and smoking in the apartment is not permitted. Guests have exclusive use of their private room and can use the rest of the apartment, including kitchen and lounge, throughout their stay. You are free to use the kitchen to make breakfast and there is always bread, fruit, juice, cereals and eggs available for you.
I work quite long hours, so will probably be out of the apartment in the mornings before you are awake. Should you wish to use the kitchen and dining area for anything other than breakfast, that should be OK but check with me first. However, there are lots of great restaurants, cafes and bars within a couple of minutes walk, although you would have no idea you are so close as the apartment is in a quiet little cul de sac off an equally quiet tree lined avenue.
No smoking in apartment and no pets allowed.
My wife being a native of Ballyhackamore Belfast, but now with her only near relative being her Mother who is now 94 years of age and living in a care home. We are both in or 70's and look for convenient accommodation in East Belfast for our stay, and I thank the day I found "airbnb" on line, as this location is just a 15 minute walk from Mothers care home. Maurice we found the perfect host, and can not thank him enough for the use of his home.I will not hesitate in staying at his home, and also recommending to our family, again. Thank you Maurice.
Exceptional !!! The host, the apartment, the location. Sharing Maurice's space was a pleasure. His home is one that provides a look st history, laughter and a welcome that lasts throughout the stay.,,hope that our paths cross in the USA !
I Recently stayed at Maurice's house for the World Police and Fire games in Belfast. We hired his whole apartment, it was excellent value in a very convenient location. It is where he lives so the apartment has everything that you will need. He provided quick and accurate communication with me prior to our arrival. I would not hesitate to reccomend his house, it was clean, great location, and value wise better than any hotel.
Thoroughly modern and spotless apartment in convenient East Belfast that provided us with a great base for exploring Northern Ireland. Maurice provide fine suggestions for dining in the area.
Best for us was the availability of a washer and dryer. Came in quite handy as our stay here was right in the middle of a two week vacation. Wish we could have stayed longer.
I really enjoyed my stay at Maurice's apartment near Ballyhackamore on the outskirts of Belfast.
The apartment itself is excellent ... clean, tidy, warm and with all mod cons; the host, Maurice, genial and a font of much knowledge about the area and its history and culture. We didn't see a lot of each other but, as light years ago the area was my home turf, when we did we talked about many of the experiences, people and places we shared.
Every morning I breakfasted at Neill's Hill (a late breakfast as it doesn't open till ten), I ate at the Mandarin City when I wasn't with family and I drank at Horatio Todds ... all on Maurice's list of local hostelries and all well worth a visit.
Maurice's 'Urban Village' apartment is five-stars all round ... well worth a visit and better base than any city centre hotel. Next time I visit family, I know exactly where I'll be staying ... and it's only seven minutes from George Best (Belfast City) Airport.

About the Host, Maurice
I manage a regeneration charity in east Belfast and also serve on a number of non-profit boards. I enjoy travel, sport and arts/music (and work!). I'm 60, married to Adrienne and we have 3 adult children. I have been an airbnb host for past couple of years, with an apartment in Ballyhackamore, but this currently has a longer term tenant. I recently took on managing the George. Best home which belongs to the charity I manage. I also occasionally use airbnb when travelling.
I'm pretty easy going and happy to fit in with whatever 'regime' is in place wherever I stay. Also happy to spend time with hosts but very happy with my own company.
I don't smoke and enjoy a 'social drink'.
