IMPORTANT: When placing a reservation request, please enter the exact number of your party, including infants. Increased guest numbers are reflected in increased costs for us, especially in hot and cold weather.
- Our guests often describe our space as homey. Yay! However, that's not the same as being at your mom's house. :-) If you make a mess of the oven, microwave, stovetop, etc., PLEASE CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF! If you would, empty the grounds from your last pot of coffee or the dregs from your last pot of tea, clean your last set of dirty dishes, and so on. We don't have a cleaning staff and don't charge a cleaning fee.
ABSOLUTELY NO CANDLES! Not only are they a fire hazard, but we have cleaned wax off the table made by our late dad, off the painted floor, off the rug, etc.
No pets allowed in the cottage, due to some guests' allergies
Fully stocked kitchen
Interaction with Guests
Friendly but not intrusive :-)
We are surrounded by historical spots! Yuba, Sutter and Nevada Counties are filled with Gold Rush history, tiny towns to visit, gold mines to tour, bird watching, hiking, river accesses and so on. We keep lots of books on local history in the cottage, as well as a binder of info on available activities.
- No pets allowed (Sorry--some guests have allergies. We keep our animals out of the rental space.)
- No smoking
-ABSOLUTELY NO CANDLES! Not only are they a fire hazard, but we have cleaned wax off the table made by our late dad, off the painted floor, off the rug, etc. You get the picture... :-(
- No unannounced overnight guests. Airbnb has verification systems in place for a reason. If you expect to have an overnight guest during your stay, please count that person when you make the reservation so we'll know.
- PLEASE clean up cooking and other spills. We don't charge a cleaning fee. :-)
- Families with young children: Please monitor your little ones in our space, as you would in anyone else's home. We want them to have fun, be comfy, and run around--with you watching them. :-)
- If you break a wine glass or similar, it's OK! Just leave a few bucks to cover the cost or replace the item yourself; either way, let us know. Stuff happens.
We stayed to attend an event in Yuba City. This is the second time we have chosen the Jefferies place. As before it is beautiful, relaxing and convenient to whatever you want to do in the area. Erica is super accommodating and the place itself is charming. Highly recommended!
The cottage was exactly as described--quiet, comfortable, with a lovely view out on to the garden, orchard, and fields. Erica met us when we arrived and made us very welcome, offering greens and herbs from the garden, as well as suggestions for restaurants and groceries nearby. It was nice to chat about the things we had in common--teaching and editing. Also, as a cat person who's currently cat-free, I loved being greeted by the friendly calico on the property.
Erica welcomed us at the door and showed us around their beautiful property, it goes on forever. I wish we had time to explore more of it. You drive through a neighborhood to get to the house at the end of the block but once you're there the property is big enough you don't notice anything around, very peaceful.
The second bedroom is not an official bedroom, no windows or closet and only has a twin bed. So if you're planning on going up with two couples that want their own room, the second bedroom is a little cramped to sleep two. There are two comfy fold out beds that can go in the living room if the second couple doesn't want to sleep in the 2nd bedroom.
We had a great time and would definitely stay again.
I needed a place to stay for a night before spending the morning at West Coast Falconry, but now I wish I could have stayed in the cottage a while longer! Erica is lovely (I didn't interact with Pete, but I'm sure he's great too)--really welcoming and flexible, which I especially appreciated when I needed to make a last-minute addition to my party. The cottage is both spacious and homey, and the kitchen has everything you need. The fresh eggs and pastries were great touches; we ate breakfast outside at the picnic table, and watched the sun come up.
I was pleased to add my name to the vintage guestbook on the dining room table, and I hope to add another signature in the future!
Stellar location for tourism without the excessive hustle and bustle. Beautiful and peaceful area. Nice kitty cat. Great hammock spots. Homey feel. Fun vinyl player. Friendly hosts.
We had a wonderful time here. The kids thoroughly enjoyed exploring the farm, feeding the chickens, and even catching a cute little frog. The fresh eggs and pastries were a delight and we felt we had all of the comforts of home away from home. I'm sure we'll be back to visit again.
We arrived after a beautiful trip through Lake County, ready for a rest, and were warmly welcomed by our gracious host; Erica.
The location was great, the guest house is much larger than it appears in the pictures and was plenty of room! The bed was super comfy and the garden out back is beautiful and in a quiet neighborhood, highly recommend if you're in the area. A great find!
Thank you for a wonderful stay, and we hope to be back soon! We will most certainly return here the next time we are in Marysville
