Enjoy tranquility and the garden, and walk around the old iron industry or in the hiking trail. This is an area with a rich wildlife- numerous lynx, passing wolves and bears, wild boar, beavers, ( no, you seldom see them:) )and a relatively rich bird life.

There are bikes and a canoe you can borrow.

There are guided tours of the ironworks with blacksmiths and coal houses and nearby a charming Nostalgia Museum with veteran vehicles, 19th century shop and café.

You can swim in the creek (100m) or the quarry in Tierp with clear water and a 6 meter jumping cliff. On the coast (30 min) there is a long sandy beach (Rullsand), or a beautiful place with smooth cliffs (Ängskär).

Nearby attractions include Lövstabruk and other historical iron works.

In nearby Gävle (35 min) you can go shopping, visit the spectacular railway museum, the prison museum or the whiskey distillery Mackmyra. There you also find the zoo and amusement park Furuvik which is a perfect day trip for the family.
Uppsala (45 min) offers a viking museum and many others , an impressive church and shopping.
You reach Stockholm in 1,5 hour by car, or by one hour by train, so it is a must if you have a day to spend.
