The Space

This is an entire home for rent.

Modern, private and located in the Faubourg St Roch Arts District of New Orleans.
2 Bicycles come with house - a 5 min bicycle ride gets you to the French Quarter, Treme, Convention centre, Marigny and Bywater. A ten minute ride will get you to Midcity / Jazz fest or on your way uptown.

One bed and bath upstairs, towels, blow dryer and iron plus organic, cruelty free soaps and shampoo etc.. Air mattress available for additional person or child in living area.

Kitchen has an array of spices, olive oil, vinegar, and coffee etc. Obviously you will have to do your own groceries, but a few basic supplies are provided. Healing Center and whole food coop just a few blocks away.

Chickens, dog (Oscar) and two cats Florence and Winky. Florence is partially blind and very friendly. Winky can see clearly and is not so friendly. :) Cats are in and out doors.

Compound comprises of two homes separated by a garden and working metal / carpentry studio.

Smoking allowed outside in the garden.

This is a working / middle class, racially mixed and proud neighborhood.

  • My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at Tara's in New Orleans. The apartment/house/studio/farm/gallery was a unique experience. We enjoyed the spacious place. A washing machine was definitely a plus! I recommend it for long and short stays. Bikes were in an excellent condition as well.

  • Tara was a very nice host with recommendations for places to go eat etc...The apartment is in a good neighborhood and everything is easily accessible with the provided bicycles. We like the place that we decided to prologue our stay. I would recommend the place!

  • Fabulous accommodation, relaxed and lovely host, great cats and dog, fantastic bike... could ask for more (except perhaps longer).

  • Tara's place was perfect for a long weekend stay in NOLA. Her space was bright and cheerful; the art and the books added to its charm. The bikes were an absolute must - it's the only way (in my opinion) to explore the city. The animals added a sense of home! The neighborhood is just as Tara describes it. The diversity, racially and socioeconomically, are apparent as you explore the surrounding blocks; but this adds to an authentic NOLA experience.

  • This house is a very nice and unique experience. Its like living in an art gallery on a farm. There are 2 chickens, 2 cats and a chill dog running around. The inside is well decorated with sculptures and furniture.

The walkability of the place is not great, but there are quality single speed bikes to borrow to get you to the French Quarter and anywhere else. NOLA is flat and very (website hidden) part were the fresh eggs Tara left for me. I had some every day.

    Response from Tara:

Other guests find the neighborhood very (website hidden) Roch is beautiful tree lined avenue, shady in the day, well lit at night. The perfect stroll to the Marigny and Bywater.

  • Everything we needed, very comfie, bikes were a huge plus, and totally considerate and lovely host. The location is a short distance to groceries and nightlife, but tucked into a quiet residential neighborhood. Perfect for independent travelers. If we come back through NOLA, we would stay at one of Tara's spots most definitely.

  • This apartment is so clean, so wonderfully and uniquely decorated, and a great location. Tara our host was so friendly and (website hidden) part is it was very cheap for how nice the accommodations are. Bikes, Laundry, and Kitties! I wholeheartedly recommend you to stay here.

  • Tara was absolutely wonderful. She has a lovely attitude, a pretty trendy space, would communicate with me every day, and was very accommodating. She oriented me to the area near the BnB, and made herself available for any needs or concerns I had. I wasn't a big fan of NOLA; but, I was a HUGE fan of Tara and her place!

  • Came to New Orleans for a fun way to celebrate Halloween. Tara's place fit our needs exactly and had some special design vision that made our trip exra special. It was easy to forget you are in a big city with the friendly chickens coming to the back door to say "hi" and cute puppies that love some belly rubs. The garden is private and makes you feel like you stepped into a different world. We enjoyed the bikes and were able to explore the city without ever getting back in our car.

Tara was an excellent hostess and was very responsive to questions and requests. Can't wait to visit again and see her progress on the property. Thanks for the memories!!

Welcome ! I have two listings on Air Bnb "New Orleans Charm with four bicycles" Accommodates 6. "New Orleans Arts Dist / New Bicycles" Accommodates 2 Hello, I am a UK designer, transplanted to New Orleans. My website - (website hidden). I work from my home. The studio and workshop are adjacent to the house and are utilized everyday. Therefore people will be coming and going from the compound, but not the house! We have chickens, a dog and several cats, if you don't like animals don't come and stay with us. As I said I'm originally form the UK, now residing in New Orleans, I just adore the city, so will you. My neighborhood is low income, mixed racially and has a changing face, which will be representing a more positive New Orleans. We are the change, we are the power, we are the people.
