We didn't get a chance to actually meet Joan, but he was easily reached by phone, and he was happy to let us leave our bags in the apartment earlier than check in time so that we could do some sightseeing while the housekeepers finished cleaning up. The apartment is very interesting, and there are lots of places to sleep and plenty of cooking supplies. We were a group middle aged women, so some of the sleeping quarters were not suitable for us, but there were plenty of usable spaces for our group of three. We came to really like the funky "industrial" decorating. We found lots of interesting and inexpensive tapas bars just down the street, the metro and bus lines were not far away, and the location was such that a taxi ride to the airport was quite reasonable as well. We did wish that the apartment had had more windows.
Neighbourhood& location are great, inside of the apartment a bit disappointing.
No doubt there is ample space, and with a lot of people it will be very cheap, (There are 8 beds) but the two of us were not so very happy... The beds are extremely hard- it felt like sleeping on a door. We were unable to sleep without pain. Also the doors to the street are so crooked that they simply won't close properly, which did not feel very safe. The fact that there is no daylight in the apartment was a (minor, but for us still a) problem- the patio is not suited to sit in (not very clean) and you never see the sun...
This revieuw may be a bit negative, but I feel like I have to balance all the enthousiastic revieuws of other guests, that led to our booking and later disappointment...
An awesome place. Very chilled out and boho. In a peaceful district, within walking distance from La Rambla and other cool areas. There's a nearby taperia (El Rincon del Cava) which is really cheap and with a great atmosphere. less than 4 euros for a bottle of Cava.
Wonderful apartment in a great area. Check out the classic tapas bar quimet I quimet on the same street.
Decor inside the apartment is wonderfully unique.
Joan is very helpful and everything went smoothly.
What can we say but 'wow'?! We probably said that word about 50 times when we first walked through the door of the apartment, the pictures really don't do it justice. Its clear that Joan has taken a lot of time to make the apartment feel homely- everything is so well stocked from an amazing array of plates and pans in the kitchen to a whole cupboard full of towels and other supplies in the bathroom. Everything is decorated with interesting finds, and the furniture/ art on the walls are all really individual, you could spend ages just exploring the apartment there is so much to look at. My father, sister and I were very comfortable, and it could easily accommodate a much larger party. The area couldn't be cooler, there are lots of amazing bars and restaurants on the street and great transport links. All in all a great choice for Barcelona, we will definitely stay here again!! Thanks Joan!
Joan's apartment is awesome. Very unique place, amazingly decorated and right in the heart of one of Barcelona's new 'cool' area's. My wife and I loved staying here.
The apartment had everything we needed and was really well located with a cool neighbourhood vibe. Easy walking distance to many of the area's of interest and secluded enough to be quiet at night.
We would definitely stay here next time.
Joan muy correcto. El piso muy bonito. =)
Joan`s flat was very cool and big and clean.
This flat have a little courtyard, you can drink coffee etc there.
That was awesome!
Joan is very kindness.
If you want to see Miro`s Museum etc, there is very near.
I recommend !
We had an excellent experience in BCN and Joan place was definitely part of it.
Joan was a great host, our flight delayed 2 hours and he was waiting for us almost at 1 am. Really kind.
The perfect spot for those who wants to avoid tourists.
It's a lovely lofty apartment in a really nice area not far from a tube station, good tapas bars and cafes. The furniture is simple, arranged with creativity and much love. It was perfect for us to host 5 people. Because it's in the basement there is not much sun light coming it. But this is not a problem for a short stay up to 4-5 days. Joan was a friendly and helpful host.
