Huge sunny Loft style apartment in Industrial Red Hook in South Brooklyn. The apartment is located in an old luggage factory building complex that was renovated into live/work artist studios 10 yrs ago.
The apartment itself is on the 2nd floor (walk up, but a breeze). With 18ft ceilings and 25ft of south facing windows overlooking the courtyard and park, its super spacious. It has small plank pine floors with lots of character, lots of plants and a pleasant mixture of sleek modern furniture and salvaged/reclaimed pieces. $200 a night is a good value whether 4 or 5 people and you'll save even more by using the laundry facilites in the building and the full kitchen: stove with oven, fridge. Feel free to use the french press There's also bike parking in the building and car parkings is easy to find on the street.
It is an industrial neighborhood that at times can feel like a welcome respite from the tourist crowded enclaves that are prevalent in Manhattan and other parts of Brooklyn. With that said, if you want to dive in to the NYC experience, its just 10 mins from F,G trains on Carroll Street(25 mins to midtown manhattan, 30 mins to Williamsburg). B61 bus stops 2 blocks away, perfect for riding down to the pier with a bottle of wine and looking at the statue of liberty or up into Brooklyn Heights/Cobble HIll and Park Slope. 5 minute walk to shops, bars and restaurants in Red Hook. 10 minute walk to bars, restaurants and shops in beautiful Carroll Gardens.
Your host works nights at a local restaurant and I will be happy to direct you to all the cool local foodie places in the neighborhood as well as sightseeing and shopping. I am fun, friendly, clean, responsible and respectful and I look forward to hosting fun loving people and sharing my neighborhood and home with them!
You'll have access to 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, bathroom, living room as well as laundry facilities in building and a central courtyard.
I love meeting new people and sharing what I love about my neighborhood and NYC. With that said, we all have our lives to lead and I expect you to respect my privacy as I will yours!
Its a charming neighborhood full of grit and candid local personalities. It offers great access to the waterfront and local industry and manufacturing. it has a strong presence of hand crafted products from wine, beer and liquor to chocolates, furniture and leather goods.
Renting a bike is ideal in Red Hook to get the most out of the local character. The B61 bus runs conveniently down the main artery and the F,G trains are a mere 15 minutes walk away.
We had a very nice stay in Robertos loft for a full week. It's a beautiful flat with a lot of character. The place was very quiet and the light from the big windows is amazing. Some days we didn't even bother to go out in the city. Roberto was very helpful and showed us good places in the neighbourhood. If there is something to remark, it's probably not the most tidy and clean flat you can find on Airbnb. For us it was ok but if you expect a super tidy flat, there maybe other options. All in all we can definitely recommend Robertos flat for your NY experience.
very accommodating host. Made every effort to ensure we had what we needed.
Quiet building and friendly neighbours. Lovely open space with lots of natural light. great location in Red Hook close to all amenities and grocery shopping
Roberto was very accommodating and laid back. The space was inviting to where it felt like we were staying with a friend that was out of town. There is a small private bedroom on the main floor and a larger semi-private loft. There was ample parking street parking along with restaurants, markets and bars within walking distance.
Easy commute into the city, just right of the BQE. Close proximity to IKEA for all you furniture lovers. The space is big and open! A loft sleeping area upstairs and a small room that fits a double bed with no windows downstairs or AC.
We paid 80 for a night shared, but we just had to leave because the room was just too small (no windows, or AC) the small fan provided just blew the dust around. We are a couple and 2 dogs.
If we had the entire apartment to ourselves and it was cleaned prior to us coming, we would have had a fabulous time. Roberto went out of his way to help us in anyway he could by showing us where to park, where to eat, pouring us cold glass waters and offering to walk our dogs. VERY SWEET!
It was a unique situation we experienced because of the short notice of our check in. We wanted the entire apartment but roberto was only able to accommodate a share at that time. He refunded us 1 night stay out of 2 but we only slept 2 hours the first night and left to a hotel because of the dust.
There are no windows in the share, and no AC in the little room downstairs. I like well ventilated space and this little room was very uncomfortable for me, I felt like I was sleeping in a closet.
Roberto did a great job communicating and felt very awful about the entire experience so I think that all new guests would have a much more pleasant stay.
Thank you Roberto for trying your best to accommodate us, and we're sorry it didn't work out.
