Riverland Terrace is the best neighborhood in Charleston. It was settled in the early 1900's and is an eclectic mix of modest and extravagant. it boasts some of the largest and oldest grand Oaks in the Chas. area. Lovely to bike or ride. I love how it is surrounded on 3 sides by water. And walking distance to restaurants and shops. ALL ONLY 5 to 10 MIN. TO DOWNTOWN CHAS. and 15 min to the beach. Friendly and safe. Bird Sanctuary in my back yard. Fishing and crabbing in my backyard as well.
Most people rent cars. I highly recommend it. It is not possible to walk to the historic district due to bridges. Cars are very cheap here if you surf the web for them. Or my guests drive in. Parking is pretty easy and abundant in Chas. Some areas are free, some metered, others have parking garages. There is a bus service but it only runs a couple times per day. Some people have ridden bikes to downtown. There are bridges to cross for that and narrow streets downtown. I will do airport pick up for $30 each way.

Crystal and her home welcomed and attended to us very warmly throughout our stay! Her home is very peaceful and comfortable and we loved sitting on the deck by the water. The neighborhood is quiet and also welcoming! We would definitely come back and will recommend Crystal's home to other Charleston travelers. We're so grateful to have found this special place and person!
My husband and I loved staying with Crystal and would highly recommend this airbnb to anyone! Crystal was very laid back and welcoming. We stayed for four nights. We usually had a light breakfast of what she made available. We always stopped by the house in the afternoon to nap and change. We always felt 100% comfortable in Crystal's home. Crystal is funny and interesting to chat with, but I know she would be respectful to those who are less chatty. The location of her place was awesome! Ten minutes to any where in Charleston, 15 to Folly, 30 to Sullivan's Island…. We loved it!
We had a very positive experience staying with Crystal. The residence was clean, welcoming, and ideally located for a stay in Charleston. Downtown was a very short drive away.
Use of Crystal's kitchen and laundry machines was a boon to our stay. Additional amenities included the use of the host's beach gear and bicycles. The back deck was the highlight of the property, offering an excellent spot to relax. The room itself was cozy. The bed, while not exemplary, was perfectly sufficient for our purposes. The only downside to this location was that the rented room was quite a bit warmer than the rest of the house at night. For temperature sensitive sleepers, this could be an issue. A 2nd room at the this property is also up for rent, which is important to note (though we suffered no ill effects because of it). In addition, Crystal's bedroom is very close to the rented one downstairs.
Again, this proved not to be an issue but could worry other renters. Overall, a delightful place to stay with a friendly, kind host.
I stayed with Crystal for a month, and it was a wonderful experience. Crystal is welcoming, fun and informative about the Charleston area. Her back deck is a quiet, relaxing refuge after a busy day exploring Charleston. Or in the morning sip your coffee on the deck while watching the snowy egrets and heron. The neighborhood is a special place and perfect for taking long walks under massive oak trees dripping in Spanish moss or heading to the boat landing to watch the sun set over the intercoastal waterway. Just a 1/2 mile away is the Terrace theater, a lovely little movie house showing the latest films and offering a selection of wine, beer and gelato! Hungry? Right next to the theater is a tapas bar with nightly jazz or on the other side you can get wood fired pizza and pannini. All in all Crystal's home is a great place to stay.
Crystal was super-nice and a really great host. She was really helpful with advice on things to see and do in Charleston. She even offered wine and provided breakfast each day. Her house was really clean and inviting. It is literally just a little over 4 miles to downtown. I will definitely stay with her again the next time I'm in town.
As alluded to by other guests, Crystal is a warm and accommodating host. Our room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was sparkling clean with clean towels. The location cannot easily be matched for access right into downtown Charleston or towards the beach.
We had a great experience at Crystal's house. The location was convenient, yet removed enough to be really relaxing. Crystal provided us with a lot of great suggestions for places to check out and eat. Everything was as described, a comfy and private bedroom, breakfast food made available by Crystal, and a wonderful porch to watch birds on and an equally beautiful neighborhood for a nice stroll or jog. We definitely hope that we can stay again the next time we visit the city.

About the Host, Crystal
I'm a Realtor with Brand Name Real Estate here in Charleston. Also a home renovator and grateful airbnb host. I love animals and being outdoors. I enjoy great conversations, and lots of laughter. Who doesn't? I love to be active, swimming in the ocean, going to dancersize, yoga, walks around the historic district of Charleston to admire the gardens and architecture of the old homes. Good food, a nice glass of wine, quiet time in the evenings are my idea of the perfect end to the day. I like all kinds of music, old movies, slice of life, triumph over adversity in my books and movies. No violence please. I've traveled throughout the Caribbean and Latin America and own a home in Costa Rica on the Pacific Coast. Recently went to Europe and am anxious to go back. Love to have visitors to show them our beautiful sights.
