Interaction with Guests

I love to visit with the guests. I've written a little book to point you in many directions to follow your passions and get the best out of your visit to our fair city, beaches and neighborhoods. I do work and am out a few hours per day. I'm always available to take care of your needs and make sure your stay is a great experience. I'm 5th generations so know my town well. You'll love playing with Ollie, the Dachshund. I like to play games such as scrabble or join you for a movie if you are up for it. For a small fee, I provide tours of downtown in a casual way.

The Neighborhood

Riverland Terrace is the best neighborhood in Charleston. It was settled in the early 1900's and is an eclectic mix of modest and extravagant. it boasts some of the largest and oldest grand Oaks in the Chas. area. Lovely to bike or ride. I love how it is surrounded on 3 sides by water. And walking distance to restaurants and shops. ALL ONLY 5 MIN. TO DOWNTOWN CHAS. and 15 min to the beach. Friendly and safe. Bird Sanctuary in my back yard. Fishing and crabbing in my backyard as well.

Getting around

Most people rent cars. They are very cheap here if you surf the web for them. Or my guests drive in. Parking is pretty easy and abundant in Chas. Some areas are free, some metered, others have parking garages. There is a bus service but it only runs a couple times per day. Some people have ridden bikes to downtown. There are bridges to cross for that and narrow streets downtown.

Other Things to Note

I'm a real estate agent with Re/Max here. If you are considering relocating, I'd love to help you. I've been a Realtor for 34 years! There may be other guests in the house. Adds to the fun. Most guests are worn out and quiet in the evenings.

  • Crystal is a great hostess. We arrived around midnight because our flite was late and she had the door open and the light on and offered my son a beer. She had a list of things to do, bicycles in the garage, a great deck outside to eat a fine breakfast made from a well stocked refrigerator. Overall it was a great stay

  • We stayed in Chrystal's home for two nights and had a great time: the house is beautifully located next to a river, the bedroom and the bathroom were very comfortable and Chrystal made us feel right at home. Also, dachshund Oliver is very charming:-).
The house is just a 10 minute drive from downtown Charleston and Chrystal's list with 50 tips on what to do when in Charleston was extremely helpful. Highly recommended!

  • We stayed at Crystal's 5 nights. The place is very clean. Crystal takes great pride in her place and tries to do everything to please her guests. Our flight was changed and we arrived close to midnight. Crystal waited with a glass of wine. Great welcome. Crystal leaves lots of breakfast choices in the kitchen and whenever we got up we could treat ourselves to coffee and food. Having the morning coffee or afternoon wine on the deck with a lovely view, conversation and a friendly dog makes one feel very comfortable. This place felt like home away from home. Its also a close drive from the Historic district of Charleston and well situated for trips in the area. This place was just what we needed for our vacation. We hope to come and stay with Chrystal again.

  • We totally enjoyed staying with Crystal, and would definitely stay there again should we return to Charleston. (Which is likely, considering how amazing the city & the surroundings are. Three days was not enough.) The room was pleasant, the house comfortable, and Crystal is a joy to be around. Thanks!

  • We felt immediately at home at Crystals house. It's cozy and clean at the same time. The deck and the view are great. Crystal was very welcoming and great to talk with. When we arrived late in the evening she shared her delicious stew with us. She gave us a lot of travel advice and even made a little book about what to do in Charleston. If we go back to Charleston we'll definitely stay with Crystal again!

  • Nice home in an old neighbourhood, good location across the river from Charleston proper… and Crystal is a warm and generous host.

  • Crystal is a generous and high-spirited hostess who welcomed us with enthusiasm. Her house is a comfortable retreat with a wonderful deck. Crystal is very knowledgeable about the area, and provides written data and suggestions to guide visitors. She is happy to have you plunder her refrigerator, and also sets you up nicely for breakfasts. An added attraction is her Dachshund Ollie, who is, in his quiet way, something of a hoot.
    Overall experience -- 5 stars

  • We had such a wonderful stay at Crystal's place !

Crystal has a super comfy house with a relaxing porch in a really calm and safe neighborhood. We did love that Crystal always inquired about our stay asking for our needs, and gave us many hands... She left us all the clues to enjoy charleston at its best, even letting us ride her bikes and car... As a result everything was perfect. In addition, Crystal is funny and talkative, always in a good mood, definitely, definitely and highly recommended.

Thanks a lot again Crystal !!!

I'm a Realtor for Re/Max Pro Realty. I love animals and being outdoors. I enjoy great conversations, and lots of laughter. Who doesn't? I love to be active, swimming in the ocean, going to dancersize, yoga, walks around the historic district of Charleston to admire the gardens and architecture of the old homes. Good food, a nice glass of wine, quiet time in the evenings are my idea of the perfect end to the day. I like all kinds of music, old movies, slice of life, triumph over adversity in my books and movies. No violence please. I've traveled throughout the Caribbean and Latin America and own a home in Costa Rica on the Pacific Coast. Recently went to Europe and am anxious to go back. Love to have visitors to show them our beautiful sights.
