Riverland Terrace is the best neighborhood in Charleston. It was settled in the early 1900's and is an eclectic mix of modest and extravagant. it boasts some of the largest and oldest grand Oaks in the Chas. area. Lovely to bike or ride. I love how it is surrounded on 3 sides by water. And walking distance to restaurants and shops. ALL ONLY 5 to 10 MIN. TO DOWNTOWN CHAS. and 15 min to the beach. Friendly and safe. Bird Sanctuary in my back yard. Fishing and crabbing in my backyard as well.
Most people rent cars. I highly recommend it. It is not possible to walk to the historic district due to bridges. Cars are very cheap here if you surf the web for them. Or my guests drive in. Parking is pretty easy and abundant in Chas. Some areas are free, some metered, others have parking garages. There is a bus service but it only runs a couple times per day. Some people have ridden bikes to downtown. There are bridges to cross for that and narrow streets downtown. I will do airport pick up for $30 each way.

Crystal was super-nice and a really great host. She was really helpful with advice on things to see and do in Charleston. She even offered wine and provided breakfast each day. Her house was really clean and inviting. It is literally just a little over 4 miles to downtown. I will definitely stay with her again the next time I'm in town.
As alluded to by other guests, Crystal is a warm and accommodating host. Our room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was sparkling clean with clean towels. The location cannot easily be matched for access right into downtown Charleston or towards the beach.
We had a great experience at Crystal's house. The location was convenient, yet removed enough to be really relaxing. Crystal provided us with a lot of great suggestions for places to check out and eat. Everything was as described, a comfy and private bedroom, breakfast food made available by Crystal, and a wonderful porch to watch birds on and an equally beautiful neighborhood for a nice stroll or jog. We definitely hope that we can stay again the next time we visit the city.
Crystal was an excellent and generous hostess with great local restaurant recommendations,a well-stocked kitchen, comfortable and very clean accommodation, and a welcome glass of wine! Location perfect for easy access to downtown. Plus, she even noticed that one of our tires was low - turns out it was a screw embedded in the tire which we mercifully got fixed before embarking on our two-day drive back to Canada. Thank you Crystal, we will definitely be back.
We stayed at Crystal's place for 3 nights. The experience was flawless. From the promptly replies to my questions to the check in to the actual stay. Elizabeth, Crystal's friend greeted us and helped with the check in process. Very fun and energetic. Crystal was really nice, helpful and full of stories to tell. Made us feel like home. The room was clean, big bed and linens very comfortable. And to top if off the outside den was just perfect. We enjoyed breakfast outside with a great view and very peaceful time. Just what I needed coming from a big city like NY. Def would recommend and Def go back! Crystal had some suggestions to eat and entertainment that were on point! Overall experience was great.
Crystal wasn't there when I stayed, but her house sitter Elizabeth welcomed U.S. and was very friendly. It was a great experience and I would definitely do it again. To be honest, I don't think I had a single problem with the stay. My girlfriend and I were amazed with the experience and it'll take a lot for hotels to regularly get our services ever again.
The place was clean, just like the pictures, and in close proximity to just about everything. There was even a complimentary glass of wine. There were dogs, though I had missed that part of Crystal's description (if it's in there--the dogs were Elizabeth's after all), but it was no problem as they were kept in their own room.
Ummm... I can't think of anything else, but I will definitely be doing Airbnb again because of this experience.
Crystal's place was in a very convenient location, and her place was neat and tidy. If I visit Charleston in the future, I will book her place again.

I'm a Realtor with Brand Name Real Estate here in Charleston. Also a home renovator and grateful airbnb host. I love animals and being outdoors. I enjoy great conversations, and lots of laughter. Who doesn't? I love to be active, swimming in the ocean, going to dancersize, yoga, walks around the historic district of Charleston to admire the gardens and architecture of the old homes. Good food, a nice glass of wine, quiet time in the evenings are my idea of the perfect end to the day. I like all kinds of music, old movies, slice of life, triumph over adversity in my books and movies. No violence please. I've traveled throughout the Caribbean and Latin America and own a home in Costa Rica on the Pacific Coast. Recently went to Europe and am anxious to go back. Love to have visitors to show them our beautiful sights.
