Keep SILENT, NO TALKING in the corridor. As most of my neighborhood are elderly, they love very very quiet. Thanks so much to respect my neighborhood.
Non-smoke, no pets, no party, keep quiet in the apartment.
Please help to be environmental friendly, switch off the air-con and other electrical appliances when leaving the apartment or not using them.
Thanks for your kind understanding and wish you have a nice trip! ^^
P.S. welcome to ask for more information for traveling around Hong Kong
NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE
“Definitely, fresh linen, blanket, ..etc are already ready ”
-> FALSE. Linens were not fresh. They were, in fact, dirty and unwashed.
“unlimited, infinite & immediate supply of warm shower are just on the tap!!”
-> FALSE. Water heater had some sort of electrical issue where it would ignore the set temperature. No matter if we set it to 55 or 38 degrees, it would reach 60,70, even 80 degrees Celsius!! If we turned the shower control towards cold, the water heater would shut off and we would get… a cold shower. So it was boiling or cold. We sent Irene a polite message asking her to investigate the issue and she just didn’t respond.
Pictures misrepresent apartment
-> The photos are edited - the brightness is turned up so much that beige walls, marks, and blemishes fade to brilliant white.
-> The sheets are not white. They are dirty and mine had hair and a spot from some unknown fluid.
-> The couch is not nice like in the photo. It is showing considerable wear and tear.
-> The door to the kitchen is off its hinges, unlike in the photo.
-> The plants sure make the photos look nice! There were no plants in the apartment.
Spotty internet - sometimes the network would just disappear, then reappear again. Restarting the router and modem did not fix the problem.
The helper who let us in did not show us how to use the lobby door. We had some trouble with it before we messaged Irene and she explained. Normally this would be less of a big deal, but it probably further exacerbated Irene’s problems with the building owners, as at least two tenants saw us struggling with the door (read the house rules about how tenants potentially complain about AirBnb guests waiting in the lobby, etc).
That “helpful map” that some of the other reviews talk about? It’s out of date. We went to the “Tanyoto Hotpot - Try Dim Sum” location Irene marked and… it was not longer there. Tip: go to “One Dim Sum” near the Prince Edward MTR stop.
The listing said essentials were not included, so we assumed we had to buy towels. When we politely asked Irene where we could buy towels (“Is there a department store nearby where we could buy towels?”), she simply did not respond. Turns out there were towels in a closet the whole time. Irene is not a particularly helpful host.
Read the negative reviews - they don’t lie! This is not a good apartment to rent and Irene is not a good host. The only redeeming quality is the location - it is very close to the Wan Chai metro stop.
Last but not least: Overpriced!!!! We paid way too much for five nights at such a small, under provisioned, poorly maintained, poorly supported, and misrepresented apartment.
The place is as pictured. Clean, and we were able to check in once the previous occupant left.
We did not get to meet Irene. Her dad picked us up from the agreed meeting place. And we were pretty much left on our own.
There's a mini guide at the back of the door for those who came unprepared.
Overall, all basic necessities are cover and working. Shower was decent. Air conditioning worked well too. Owner provided towels as well. The building has a security guard round the clock so we felt safe. The location is very good and central, with supermarket, fast food and transport all within walking distance.
On the down side, Wifi was intermitten at times. And the sofa is a little worn. And the pillow can be a bit too soft for comfy.
Otherwise, no genuine concerns/complaints.
Great apt for those looking to stay in Wan Chai.
Irene is very responsible and hospitable. Thanks for taking care of my friends.
