The space
A few quotes from our guest book:

"It was absolutely perfect!"; "Thank you for the beautiful accommodations!";
"5 days of perfection . . . a real home away from home."; "Our third time in this beautiful paradise."; "What a lovely oasis for a romantic getaway."; "Sparkling clean, comfy bed, super soft sheets . . . "; "You have thought of every detail to make our stay memorable."; "There is something magical about this place."

Now it is your turn to relax into the comfort and convenience of your own private apartment. You'll have a large, airy, light-filled great room with living, dining, work space, and kitchen areas, a cozy bedroom with a queen sized bed, and a spacious bathroom with tub and shower. The kitchen is well-equipped with a Keurig coffee maker, a supply of bold brew and decaffeinated K-cups, as well as a drip coffee maker and a French press if you prefer to bring your own special grind. We also supply dishes, pots & pans, eating and cooking utensils, a microwave and a toaster as well as half and half and sugar, a few basic spices and other non-perishables. There is a small fridge and a 4-burner gas stove. The lodge is spacious for a couple, and will comfortably accommodate four people. There are three queen-size sleeping options -- in addition to the bedroom, there is a pull out sofa in the great room and an air bed if needed. Our house is a typical Vermont farm house (1840's) and has a stable attached to the house. We have 35 acres which includes horse pastures and lower woods and wetlands that are fun for aimless, meditative walks (see more information under "Guest Access" below). We also have three dogs and a cat.

Although the opportunities to explore the rich cultural and recreational offerings of our area are almost endless, many of our guest seem to enjoy simply being in the lodge. It is a very pleasant space, no matter the season or weather, to escape, relax, and rejuvenate.

Guest access
Guests enter the Lodge through our tack room on the first floor. The tack room is a shared space, providing guest access to the Lodge and us access to our horse stable and dog kennel. The entire Lodge space is completely private.

Guests are welcome to explore our property. You will find a small table and chairs across the road for enjoying the view or sitting around the fire pit, and we have created rough paths that will take you down to a dense, wild forest of evergreens and deer trails, great for aimless wandering through boggy wetlands, uprooted trees, and beautiful mosses - or several feet of snow!

Other things to note
Although extremely hot days are rare during the summer in Vermont, we do install an air conditioner in the bedroom window in the summer. We also supply a box window fan (more are available on request) and the living area is well ventilated with ceiling fans and windows on three sides. Our two horses are in the stable at night during the winter months. You might hear an occasional snort or thud as they go about their business of being horses!

We are animal lovers and made the decision several years ago to allow guests to bring dogs (no more than two, please!)

Lives in Glover, Vermont
We moved to the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont from Virginia twenty-two years ago and instantly fell in love with the stunning beauty of the natural landscape. We have come to deeply value the culture of community and commitment to preserving a way of life here that is fast disappearing in so many parts of the world. We love our old farm house and the land surrounding it, most of which we are allowing Nature to reclaim. We are still somewhat stunned that we can take a five minute walk down our dirt road and enjoy the best food, drink, music, and company that you could find anywhere. Hope you'll join us -- we really want to share.
