Great location. Flexible check-out time. Clean house.
The unit was clean and had a nice living room and kitchen. The kitchen was very sparsely equipped as there wasn't much beyond salt and pepper. The bathroom was functional but odd. Location was fantastic as we walked in 5 minutes to the city's best Italian and a very, very good Austrian restaurant. We also walked to the Flachau ski bus at Mirabelplatz. The only thing that did not go smoothly was our entry into the flat. The hosts use another lady who came late. We were outside on a cold, windy night for some minutes.
I have no complaints about this apartments location! We did not have to take a cab or train anywhere we went, which was great since we were only there for a short time. There's a few bars and shops very nearby, but the noise from them was not bad at all. The apartment was great. Spacious and accommodating for us 4 girls.
Regarding the host - I never met Marion or Walter, but they were very responsive and helpful in emails. They even shipped back some items we had left.
The only thing to note is the occupancy tax (I had missed this in the description) and there is also a fee if you check in late (I was not aware of this). The person who let us in arrived approximately 15 minutes after we did, so we had to wait a little bit.
Overall, I would stay here again and would also recommend this place to anyone else.
We had an absolutely great stay at Marion & Walter's apt. The location could not have been more central/perfect - with the cobblestone streets and wonderful cafes & bars all at our doorstep. We had no problem with any street noise as others have stated. The size was great, and the charm was top-notch. Also had great experiences with Marion & Walter in terms of their promptness, communication and even a few restaurant tips! We also felt very safe & secure.
Host instructions for checking in were contradictory -- the result was we were left standing in the rain for almost an hour before someone arrived to open the door.
Unit is elegantly refurbished, but very poorly designed. Bathroom sink area is very small with very limited storage for toiletries. Bedroom is too small for the bed -- Only a few inches of clearance between the bed and one wall; only a foot of clearance between the foot of the bed and the (website hidden) was analogue and had a only a limited number of German language channels. In Vienna, we rented through AirBnB and had several English and French channels in addition to the German language channels.
It appears the owners spent a considerable sum on renovating the unit, but are cutting corners on the operating expenses (see comments about supplies below).
We arrived there by taxi from airport (16 euro). The location is very central and convenient. We had concert reservation at Stiftung Mozarteum and it's just 5 minutes walk away. The living room is very large. The bed is very comfortable. Shower works great. The apartment door doesn't seal very well (after close and lock you can see a slit) and thus you can hear people walking upstairs talking very clearly, which sometimes is a bit annoying. But overall we had an nice stay here.
We were so excited to discover the wonderfully quaint location of Marion and Walter's apartment in Salzburg. It is on a cute, pedestrian only street just one block from the river and close to everything! I loved being able to slip out in the morning to the bakery and bring back rolls and coffee for the family.
The apartment itself is clean and spacious with a nice kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. Although it is in a very old building, the inside felt new and modern.
The only downside to the apartment was it turns out the cute little street also has a number of very cozy bars, which is great for going out, but turned out to be a bit loud late at night. This made it harder to sleep with the windows open. But that is probably just the tradeoff for being so central.
