The space
As COVID still hunts the city, masks are required for check in.
San Francisco homes are made of wood for earthquake security so there is barely any soundproof. Therefore, to ensure everyone's sleep and restful evenings, we expect silence from 8:00pm until 10:00am for which we request that if you have a phone call, you use your headphones and whisper. It is of the most primordial importance. People that intend to be on the phone with time zones that are in the middle of the night in San Francisco are NOT ideal for our home. There is a list to read carefully prior you consider us or book our home.
NOT ideal for people that
a) need cooking,
b) take long showers, unless you have long hair, 5 minutes should be enough,
c) cannot tolerate cold weather or humidity, our summers are extremely cold,
d) have issues with slight hills
e) come to mingle on dating sites
f) work from home all day, we rent a bedroom not an office space,
g) need to be on the phone with time zones that are in the middle of the night in San Francisco
h) have ANY special requirements or needs. You ought to ask INQUIRE first to see if such needs can be met otherwise it will be your failure to respect our rules. Please be aware that we have a strict cancellation and do not give refunds
i) no video or photo taking of any area of our home,
j) no smelly foods like garlic, kimchi, etc., may be taken to your bedroom to eat, it will smell all around.
Please note
- no shoes, no flip-flops of any kind inside the house, only socks or sleepers
- we provide plastic bags for you to put your shoes in prior you enter to our home and you need to bring your shoes always inside the plastic until you are on the porch ready to leave (there is a wooden box for your use and store such plastic bags, kindly put the bags well inside the box so that they don't fly around forcing us to run and get them)
- no parties, and no family, friends, no children and neither visitors allowed under no circumstance
- no washing of any clothes
- no weapons, no drugs or illegal things of any kind allowed
- no candles or anything that can put our home in jeopardy
- due to major allergies no pets of any kind are allowed, including among others, guard, guide or service dogs
Our check-in time is between 6 and 8pm
- we will do our best to check you in earlier or later if you let us know prior your booking and we agree to an specific time, we will be happy to receive you, show to your bedroom and bathroom understanding that the kitchenette usage won’t be done until the next day or whenever you have time at a later date because we will not to disturb others sleep
- if, after we agreed to a particular check in time prior your booking that is after 8:00pm and you still do not make it at that time, regrettably you will have to stay in a hotel the first night (many times we have been dragged to wait for a guest near midnight and that is something we will not do again)
It is completely off limits to wander around my house or to go down to our deck or garden, every area in our home is private.
The house is on a slight hill, so please be mindful of your physical health before considering us.
We have four surveillance cameras around our home in our common spaces exclusively: outside our main door entrance and immediately inside the main door on the first floor, on our stairs on the second floor and outside the metallic gate on the third floor.
We expect you to read the listing details as all of them are different and it is your responsibility to understand them prior booking with us.
We care a lot about our home and everyone in it, so the moment you have an issue, kindly let us know immediately so we can address it and take care of it and you.
The walls in our San Francisco homes are made of wood for earthquake safety measures so the downside is that our homes do NOT have good sound proof making it imperative that you wear your headphones and whisper between 8:00pm and 10am. As we are a home, versus office space, you must keep this in mind prior to considering us because we will expect you to respect the sleep of others around you.
We will give our wifi passcode but expect you to kindly use it in one device at a time. The topography and monopoly of internet providers in our city do not allow the speed we should have considering that this is the mecca of the internet.
Guaranteed parking at door as long as you provide your license plate and is only available while your booking takes place.
We will expect you to learn the difference of compost, recycle and trash and follow the instructions we will give you in the bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchenette and main kitchen if you live here for a month or longer.
Bathroom usage
We offer three shared bathrooms, no private bathrooms available. The first one is on the top floor of the house, next to the kitchenette. The other two are on the second floor so please NOTE that if you are booking the Burgundy bedroom or any of the studios, the two closest bathrooms are ONE floor up, that means that if you need to use it in the middle of the night, you have to walk one floor up.
All of our bathrooms have showers and hot water. Please note that if the water stops in the middle of your shower, all you need to do is to pool the string next to the shower head and the water will return immediately (it is a reminder to take as short showers as possible).
Please keep your toiletries in your bedroom because if one bathroom is busy you have two others available. You will never need to wait to use the bathroom in my home.
We clean our bathrooms every morning, every evening, deep cleaning twice each week plus scraping walls and paint is done every 8-10 months.
Kitchenette usage
Our kitchenette has very basic needs, kettle, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, mini fridge and cutting board that, if used, must be washed and left clean.
Guest access
There are no gatherings in front of our home or anywhere else. We all work and live great lives so the spaces we offer are for travelers that need a quiet and clean home in a very safe area and environment.
There is no washing of clothing of any kind at home, near by coin laundromats available.
You have parking exactly outside our door all year round but oversize vehicles are not allowed. If you are driving, please advise for our immediate instructions and once your booking is confirmed, we will need your license plate number. That said, as of your check out, parking here is no longer available or permitted.
There is no gathering in someone else's bedroom under no circumstance, even if you are friends and you are traveling together!
Our weather changes constantly and it is pretty cold all year round, especially in summer. Due to allergies we keep windows open and are used to fresh air so please consider booking our home if you expect otherwise. We only use the heating system during winter so if you intend to stay with us proper sweaters and socks are a must.
Access to our deck and backyard is not available.
During your stay
One of us will receive you upon arrival so kindly dispose of 15-20 minutes for FULL check in and ALL suitcases must be brought in at check in time, no exceptions unless requested and agreed PRIOR your booking.
Upon your arrival, we will show you everything and clearly explain all you need to know to ensure you have a magnificent stay, enjoy daily life and, in turn, this will allow us to continue our high standard of living without the interruptions that misunderstanding always bring.
We have been living in this precious home for 30+ years and have been hosting for 10 of those years, so invaluable experience though us that only guests that believe in responsibility for themselves, respect family life values and those with a journey of work or travel that intend to benefit our city are the ideal ones for us. If your reservation is accepted, you will be bound by our rules.
